An interesting related story came up today: What if hackers hijacked a key satellite?

It sounds like the imaginings of science fiction writers. However cyber experts warned yesterday that hackers could send the world back to the 1960s by hijacking satellites dotted around space, creating havoc below.

Our overwhelming reliance on space technology makes us acutely vulnerable were it to ever break down or be deliberately sabotaged. For those gathered at the conference on national security and space at the Royal United Services Institute for Defence and Security Studies (RUSI) yesterday it was an issue they felt needed to be confronted more openly.

We have become so reliant on technology that we're exposed to the dangers of that reliance.

Can you imagine the ramifications if a hacker were able to take control of a drone?

Can you imagine the ramifications if a hacker were able to take control of a cooling systems computer at a nuclear power plant?

Say, Indian Point.

Sorry, but a "hacker" couldnt take control of a nuclear power plant because safety related systems are still controlled by relay based logic systems. The only way to "hack" them is to physically go down to the plants, open the control cabinets and rewire them.

Your lack of knowledge in this area is quite stunning.

Have any of you been reading about these new Wireless Electricity meters being installed on homes across America?

Your new power meters have little computers in them and very very strong wireless cards. They reach out and connect to other power meters until they get their message back to the Power Company.

They could also connect in thru any open wireless network likely to report back to the Power Company.

Why would they be so foolish to put such a system in across America?

Make it easier for somebody to switch it all off to instill fear onto the Public??

If there's any hacker worth his salt he should get one of those and start tinkering with it.

Your question starts out with a non truth. They do not never tell. Maybe you never hear it for derailing threads and troll questions.
