Pretty interesting stats in this article, most tellingly this one:

In March 2010, just before the law was passed, 37 percent of Americans approved of the ACA, and 48 percent disapproved. Today that gap has narrowed to just four percentage points, with 46 percent disapproving but 42 percent of Americans now approving of the law.More than a quarter of the people who oppose the law say they want it to do more.

www.washingtonpost.com... 83bf_story.html

Read that again:

More than a quarter of the people who oppose the law say they want it to do more.

That means that only about 30% of people that oppose the law thinks it does too much/is too extreme and should be repealed.

Another 50%+ of people think it's good or doesn't go far enough... that's over half the population, that will NOT be voting for Romney because of his pledge to repeal healthcare... which is pretty amazing, considering how much of a negative it seemed to Obama this time last year.

Romney is def gonna lose this... def...

That is the "group" I'm in. I think Obamacare is a mess. It should have been the way it was originally introduced, without all the compromises to appease the GOP.

Besides, Romney can hardly demonize Obamacare and, from the other side of his mouth, praise it because it was his idea... Oh, wait, yes he can!

I know I'll get flamed for this but..

Most people in the U.S. when it is explained properly want Single Payer Healthcare. The Public Option would have put us on the road to this.

The country can not afford Health Insurance Companies. They are irresponsible and not cost affective.

Single-payer health care

That's also my group... It's basically a pay-off to insurance companies, who wrote most of it, but in exchange a few good things happened... maybe it's a step in the right direction, hard to know at this point...

completely agree..

Of course many Americans think Obama is a hard core liberal, so.. there's a lot of information and context missing from the current debate...

Have to agree. And for all those saying it's fixed, I almost might agree. It's like 2004 all over again. But, I don't really think that. The GOP just has too many issues right now to be an singular thing. I mean, if 1/3 of them are libertarians, a 1/3 fiscal conservatives and the other 1/3 a bunch of religious whackos, it will take a very special person to be able to capture the majority of all three. Something no one was able to do this cycle. I said a while back, mostly after Obama's inauguration, well really two days after when the Tbaggers started blaming him for everything because he was black, funny how they weren't there yelling at Bush. Yeah, I pulled it, and if you are a halfway decent or honest person, you (in the general sense) know that the beginnings of the Tbaggers are racist. The man didn't get a fair shake as far as I am concerned. Say what you will about his majorities in congress, he never had a veto proof majority in the Senate, so your majority argument goes out the window on that one. I don't know, the republicans, I think, are about to splinter into two or three groups. Which ultimately will be good for the country. Why? Because then a third party will emerge from all that. Because I am more likely to vote for a fiscal republican who rejects the evangelicals. I mean the religious people are the main reason I refuse to vote republican, that and their insistance on a third try at trickle down economics, because what they don't tell you is that trickle is p!$$.

It'll be a sad thing to see for Politics and a sad day for the nation if Romney loses. I mean he's having to work so hard at it. If the current situation isn't a nation in trouble, I don't know what that possibly can look like and hope I never do.

Despite that...Romney is still treading water. Yeah... How oh how did this come as the best anyone could offer for a candidate? Yikes...

As for Obamacare? I have no clue why people have just kinda forgotten to be mad except to say that will come with reminders in screaming capital letters as things come into effect. Like Pelosi said, we had to pass it to see what was in it. It's a time release bitter pill, and timed to pop in his hopeful second term. It'll be a nasty pop under a Romney White House. Time will tell.

The first dose of our medicine comes while Obama is still President either way, on the morning of Jan. 1st. The tax increase effectively happening across so many areas is programmed into the budget as essential to making everything else work. If that changed to any measurable degree, a great deal breaks, including Obamacare programs on Gov't insurance. It'll be wild to see and truly a lose/lose for that stage of it.

Meh...it's the same crap as all the rest of "health care reform".
The problem is, health care costs too much.
No-one tries to fix this. Everyone's idea of fixing health care is to make sure the insurance guys get paid.
How about attacking the actual problem?

Reform health care.
Reduce the cost.
Let the insurance guys swing.

I honestly think he'll end up, barring any massive scandal, as beloved as Clinton... I don't think he's as naturally gifted at politics, but... somehow, and it's amazing, he's still seen as likeable... once the Republicans back down, after the election, and they're already signalling they will, and the country's economy really starts to improve, and when people finally realise that Obamacare won't ACTUALLY destroy all business, etc., I think he'll end up quite popular...

Just a guess, anything could happen...

Agreed, completely! Sadly neither party is putting that option on the table, and the ONLY party that's even made it marginally better, right now, are the Dems.. and people see that... they also see how expensive their care is compared to the rest of the first world... things will change, but slowly... very very slowly...

The day Obama is re-elected I'll think of you and have a nice long laugh, at how your side's delusional fearmongering has failed, at how the US is become less and less socially conservative, and religious, and at how anyone anywhere could honestly believe Mitt Romney had a chance... he makes George Bush Jr look like Ronald Reagan...

The new healthcare law SUCKS, and it is REALLY bad for small companies, like the one I work for. I handle both commercial and health care for the company and people don't even realize it is going to affect both!!!!

Mitt Romney said:

2007 - People getting free care at hospitals is wrong and a form of socialism.
2008 - A mandate to force people who CAN pay for insurance TO pay for insurance is better than socialism.
2010 - It makes no sense for America to have millions of people going to emergency rooms for healthcare
2012 - The US provides care to all citizens via free emergency room care, which is why we don't need health insurance mandates.

The can't have rage against Obama care when they have just nominated the guy who created the prototype of it.

Romney is having enough problems as it is, the last thing the GOP wants to do is remind people that Obamacare is a copy of Romneycare and start saying how horrible it is.

As I see 1 trillion + yearly budget deficits running us clear off the cliff of fiscal calamity...and effective unemployment rates exceeding 20% in some states by the BLS's own figures, no less.....I hope if Obama wins I am wrong. I really do hope, for my kid's sake, he does find someway to make the 2nd 4 the opposite of the first 4. Time will tell........because we have nothing else and as regular people, the one shot we had to see a real difference has been lost. Now it's hang on and hope for the best to the next try.

President Mitt Romney will get about 301 Electoral College Votes on November 6, 2012.

ObamaCare will be repealed and replaced. Fire the elitist - Death Panel - in Washington DC.

The replacement will include - tort reform -.

--------------
On November 7th the Electoral Map will look like this:

Benjamin Netanyahu will breath a huge sign of relief.

So neither choice is any good.
But I know darn well, Obama isn't going to repeal the healthcare issue. and since what I've been learning, in dealing with these from our accountant, It has the POTENTIAL to put my company out of business, I cannot vote for him.
(That is just one of many reasons, but I really need this job!!!)
