Raise and sell pigs and piglets and goats and chickens and eggs.
Also grow small sunflowers and monster zinnias and sell fresh at our roadsidefarmstand. The sunflower seed used for bird feed works great and
germinates well... and is only bucks for a 6lb bag. I plant them every other day in 12 foot rows and have them all season... what doesn't sell goes
back as feed for my pigs.... high in protein.
Also grow purple top turnips to use as pig feed... a thousand seeds are only about 4 bucks and will produce thousands of 1lb turnips and greens..
which I eat and also sell to roadside stand customers.
We sell firewood by the stack or pickup truck load.
I also scan all the local craigslist ads within an hour drive for seasonal products to sell... we are almost sold through on pumpkins for Halloween at
the stand... I bought them at 2 bucks a pumpkin any size.... and got only the biggest and sold them for 4-7 bucks based on shape, size, quality...
even with gas and driving.. I turned 100 dollars into almost 300 dollars... I am turning 40 bales of hay I bought at 1 dollar a bale, because the
farmer's barn was full and rain was on the way, into 120 dollars.
I also sell primitive farm furniture I make from discarded pallets and packing crates... the rough sawn boards and natural dings and nail holes give
each piece a sense of age and use... can take a large crate meant to ship UTV wagons and "gators" and make "old style" kitchen hutches and chests
and "ice boxes"... old nails and screws and mismatched hinges and knobs add authenticity.... buy some mismixed paint from the supply store...then a
coat of shoe polish quickly wiped off gives it age... can make 50-250 bucks.
Plus stuff from the home garden and vineyard... grapes, tomtoes, peppers, apples, gourds, beans, egg plant... what doesn't sell goes into the canning
jar, freezer, or pig pen as feed.
Plus, I work a regular retail management job...
I sleep really well at night.
