Now I happen to have one of these phones issued by Assurance Wireless (VirginMobile). The one they issue is a very cheap little (no frills) 1x3" thingy so I upgraded mine for around $30.00 and its like a Blackberry. I get 250 min free calling + 250 free texts per month - IF I decide to pay $5.00 I get another 500 min of calling and text.......Not bad - BUT free phone or no - my vote ain't gonna go - to BHO -
ho ho ho

I am just like the lady in the video - Sooooooo happy that my president treats me sooooooo well

Um...your title is misleading. I'd suggest you change it, because you make it sound as though one vote is guaranteed, but it isn't, no matter what phone (free or otherwise) you happen to get.

Other than that, you'd be a fool to vote for Romney. Incidentally, I find it very strange that everyone was griping and complaining about Obama, and then we just HAPPEN to have a competitor who makes himself look even WORSE than Obama.

Does anyone else smell a set-up? I'm thinking they purposefully nominated Romney as a candidate, just so we'd be forced to pick Obama again. After all, Republican and Democrat are only a game: the classic Realistic Conflict Theory. They work together to keep the 99% confused, which helps to keep them in power. And we never see it.... saddening.

Realistic Conflict Theory (RCT), or Realistic Group Conflict Theory (RGCT) is a social-psychological model of intergroup conflict.[1] The theory explains how intergroup hostility can arise as a result of conflicting goals and competition over limited resources.[2][3] Groups may be in competition for a real or perceived scarcity of resources such as money, political power, military protection, or social status.[2] Feelings of resentment can arise because groups see the competition over resources as having a zero-sums fate, in which only one group is the winner and the other, loses.[4] The length and severity of the conflict is determined by the perceived value and shortage of a given resource. According to RCT, positive relations can only be restored if superordinate goals are in place.

OK - I'll amend the title although it was only intended as a bit of irony/humor.

So Vote for Obama you get free stuff don't vote for Romney cause he doesn't give them free stuff.

Seems Romneys 47% comment is right on the mark altho think most people would rather have a job than a cell phone.

If you have one of the phones then you obviously fit into one of the following categories.

...if you participate in Medicaid, Food Stamps/SNAP, General Assistance, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Temporary Assistance to Needy Families, Federal Public Housing Assistance (Section 8), Home Energy Assistance Programs (HEAP, LIHEAP & E-HEAP), The National School Lunch Program’s Free Lunch Program, Supplemental Security Income (SSDI) or possibly some other public assistance program

Assurance Wireless Free Cell Phones

Are you saying you should not qualify for any of these?

Are you gloating about milking the system?

Are you proclaiming that even though you receive government benefits you intend to vote for a candidate that will cut said benefits?

I am at a loss to understand your reasoning for making this thread.

The Obama Phone "Get yours now"

Here's my post in the other thread. As I state in there, I was less concerned with the "gimme free stuff" as I was with other implications....give it a read...or not.

Um, sorry but the fools are those who think that the president sets policy for the country!

Oba-a-a-a-ma... R-a-a-a-a-mney... doesn't matter.
The move towards socialism has been going on since the inception of the Federal Income Tax and Federal Reserve.

The whole process is asinine. No Democrat who supports Obama should be against Romney. And no Republican who votes fro Romney should be against Obama. Their differences are so minute that it's completely pointless to debate those differences. We've seen both in executive positions, and we've seen that both act in a nearly identical manner.

All this bitchin back and forth by Democrats and Republicans highlights the stupidity of Americans. I can't fault Republicans for WANTING to believe their candidate is different, after all their primary line up was a cast of misfits and the functionally retarded.

Yes I understand for those that think rationally it seems impossible that the GOP would nominate Romney, but that assumes that the GOP thinks rationally...and they haven't thought rationally since being hijacked by the extreme right in recent years.

Otherwise...YES...they are serious that they think Romney should be President...as frightening as that sounds.

And shockingly...YES...he was the best choice amongst the Nominees they put forward...Remember loony Bachman? Herman Cain and the multiple affairs? Rick Perry not being able to name 3 agencies of governemnt?

The rising stars of the GOP sat out this election because frankly...they were bright enough to know the GOP would lose. They knew that winning the GOP nomination would mean they would have to pander to the extreme right wing at a time when the country at large was moving to the center. Losing proposition. And they were right...Romney is stuck trying to explain the extreme positions he espoused to get the nomination...and the GOP is having to defend horrific statements about women, minorities, the poor and working classes etc.

The GOP moved far right...the public at alrge moved toward the center...too big a gap.

Agreed!

People aren't getting it... welfare today is more than just 'helping those in need,' it's become government's excuse to create dependency among the entitlement generation, and lazy/greedy people are eating it up!

Welfare money does not come from government - government has no money! Money is an idea - an imaginary credit. The more of this 'credit' they take from you, the less control you have over your life.

With current "Obama-logic" almost EVERYONE will eventually need 'assistance' because tax rates will be so high that most of our paychecks will automatically be surrendered for redistribution. That's what Socialism and Communism are about.

Romney will be no different, just played from a different angle.
I just hate to see the people being suckered into dependency, but things will get much worse before they ever get better.

Assurance Wireless Free Cell Phones

The threshold for people to participate in the National School Lunch Program’s Free Lunch Program:

(For the period July 1, 2012, through June 30, 2013, 130 percent of the poverty level is $29,965 for a family of four; 185 percent is $42,643.).

www.fns.usda.gov...

While raising 4 children on less than $29,965 a year probably sucks – the kids need to eat but a cell phone is not a need it is a comfort item or a want.

The program only has one name according to the web site which is NATIONAL SCHOOL LUNCH PROGRAM. It is not clear to me if qualifying for a “free” lunch is required or if simply qualifying for the program in general.

People qualify for the program that reduces the cost of a school lunch to not more than 40 cents who have 4 children and make below $42,643. Still not a lot of money but according to the 2010 census:

MO - US
Per capita money income in past 12 months (2010 dollars) 2006-2010 $24,724 - $27,334
Median household income 2006-2010 $46,262 - $51,914

quickfacts.census.gov...

If we are talking the later number (qualifying for the program in general for reduced cost lunch $42,643) then hell according to this a lot of the population are going to get free phones. In a good many of the States the median income for a household is below 42K.

I have one kid - in a month she spends about $90.00 for lunch at school. However, she also buys the ala-carte items snacks and stuff so if she just bought the lunch it would be only $2.00 a day. So roughly $40.00 a month. So for the family of 4 they'd have to pay $160.00 a month for lunch for the kids. I can see the problem on the lower number of 29K (especially if you live somewhere expensive) but at 42K a year you should be able to pay for your kids lunches even at the full rate.

My suggestion is if people can't afford to pay a couple hundered bucks for your kids to eat lunch at school you need to stay off the phone and get to work... no wonder we have a welfare nation.

Based on the infromation my wife has at the library where she works 53% percent of the students who attend my childs school qualify for the program... Really, more than half the kids get free/reduced lunch?

Sadness...
