Whoever was shooting at him had some good aim. I'm not going to criticize what the soldier did because I have no combat experience, and who knows
what emotions he was experiencing, or the thoughts going through his head during this firefight. For all we know they could have been pinned down in
an ambush and caught off guard.
The only question I have is when he said I'm going down I'm wondering if they had a checkpoint they had to secure down in the valley, or perhaps
other troops pinned down there? Why would a he give up the high ground and go into what seemed to be a trap?
