Mods, not sure where to put this so I picked general. Please move if it fits better somewhere else.

Replacement referee that called game-winning TD in Seahawks-Packers game was deemed not good enough for Division I

This is the headline.

If you think the game had a terrible call in it to swing the game for the Seahawks, this ref just happens to work as the vice president of Bank Of America.

Here is the article about the game and how Lance Easley is not even deemed good enough to ref for division 1.

Here is the Wikipedia page on Mr. Easley

Now I heard that vegas and sportsbooks across the country had over 150 million dollars in bets going in favor of the sportsbooks for this particular game.

Could the Bank of America vice president partaken in some of this action?

I am not saying one way or the other, but in further review of the controversial call, I believe the referees got the call right.

Let me explain:

The definition of simultaneous possesion is when the offensive player and defensive player both have control of the ball at the same time. Now in this call the Packers player clearly caught the ball first, but Golden Tate from the Seahawks did reach for the ball in the air and put his hands on the ball. Now when the players hit the ground, they fought for the ball.

Once the offensive player (Golden Tate) put his hands on the ball in the air, that constitutes simultaneous possesion.....So even if I think this, does it make it the right call?

Here is the quarterback Aaron Rodgers for the Packers venting about the NFL and the ref's.

I would like to hear what you think about this call and the conspiracy surrounding this play....

150 million dollars in bookie profits (that is only sportsbook bets) not to mention how much more in personal book keeping profit.

Referee that makes the call not deemed good enough to ref division 1 football, let alone the NFL.

Referee calling the touchdown on the field, Bank of America Vice president.

Thoughts? Other than we need the regular referees back, which I agree 150% about!!!

And you are entitled to your opinion just like everyone else. However, Tate's obvious offensive interference when he pushed off the Green Bay player prior to the 'catch' should have been called and the play whistled dead at that point. If the correct call had been made there would not be all this hoopla now, in my opinion.

You are correct that Easley was not deemed qualified to ref Division 1 college games according to what I found in a USA Today article:

"But was Lance ready to work at the NFL level? Absolutely not."

Richins' staff determined that Easley, vice president of small business banking at Bank of America in Santa Maria, Calif., wasn't ready for Division I, the highest level of college officiating, never mind the much faster NFL game.

USA Today Source

My advice to Mr. Easley..... don't quit your day job!!

However, like I told my fiance in the first week of regular season, I would not at all be surprised if the NFL did not purposely install incompetent replacement refs in order to create this kind of pressure from the fans, players and coaches to try to force the referee union's hand in negotiations to cave to what the league wants.

With this nonsense in the NFL and the NHL lockout threatening the season, I am just about done with pro sports all together. What used to be a fun break from the world's (and life's) troubles has religated fans to sitting on the sideline watching the poor little rich kids duke it out for more money.

PS - I am sure you are aware but the first link in your OP is not working. I keep getting a "404 Page Not Found"

That thread has NOTHING to do with the fact the referee is an employee of Bank of America....

Nor the things that I stated in the OP, but thanks for the reference....

Go troll somewhere else, leave my thread alone
