Highest & Cheapest Gas Prices by Country

Didn't quite know where to post this, but I thought many here on ATS would find this interesting.

Here is a Bloomberg,com report analyzing the cost of gas around the world... not only the actual cost per gallon, but they have added a "pain at the pump" index which calculates the percentage of the average daily income which is needed to buy that gallon.

Yes, I still pay too much for gas.

Right before 9/11, gas was right around $0.99 per gallon. That's what it SHOULD be.

I don't know about you guys.. But this is what gas prices look like in Massachusetts..

The timing of the report is a giggle (laugh).

As the northern hemisphere heads into winter, prices in the UK normally jump up a fair bit.
I am not too sure of other countries but the UK figure is accurate at its CHEAPEST time of the year.

If the survey was made in the middle of winter I am sure the UK would be second or third position.

The gap between diesel and petrol is only a few pence in Summer but can be as large as 10p (per litre) in the middle of winter.
Petrol also jumps up in price in winter.

maybe this chain of garages should set up shop in the UK

Information like this bugs me. No, I don't feel better. I really don't care what people pay for gas in Norway, or any other country. I care what I pay in America.

Half the nation is working minimum wage and not making anywhere near that, so while that average may be true, it's skewed by outliers (billionaires)...

Actually at $7.50 8 hours you have like 50 dollars or so after taxes per day but only if you somehow work 56 hours per week..

There is a reason I don't ever drive anywhere ya know... It's because in my short life I saw gas at 89 cents and at over 4 dollars...

I have never made 136 dollars in one day 136/8 = $17.00/hour while minimum wage is like $7.50/hour, but I have never made over about $8.50 as a manager...

Oh well, I found the analyses and information contained was very interesting.

I mean, the usual suspects were definitely going to be at the bottom of the list, but I was surprised to find Egypt so far down the list... how about you?

The most surprising was that Norway, Europe's largest oil producer and the world's second largest natural gas exporter would pay so much.

Of course, it brings us to the heart of the information provided, that price is relative to income. Even at more than double the price of gas than in the U.S. the median wealth of Norwegians is so far greater than the U.S's that the percentage of daily income for gas is practically the same. I definitely did not know that!

Of course, you would not mind paying $100.00 for a carton of milk if you made $100 000/ week would you?

Anyhow, I kind of hoped people would actually view the information and find some interest in it... I guess not.

They didn't put any statistical information up for us to see, however, I tend to agree with you, that if the numbers weren't adjusted to exclude the extremes on the income category, then the numbers do not really reflect reality.

IT says Mexican price is 3.24. We are paying 9 pesos per liter. 9x3.78(liters per gallon)=34.02 / 13 pesos per USD gives you 2.61.

SO, I can't believe ANY of those numbers, since the one that I can check myself is WRONG.

Pemex is a govt monopoly so the price does not change, and is not different in different areas. The price has gone from 6 to 9 pesos in the nine years I've been here, which seems like a fifty percent increase. However, the peso has gone from 10 pesos per dollar to 13 in that same time frame, so the price really hasn't gone up much at all. Or rather, the price of EVERYTHING has gone up due to the ongoing Ponzi scheme known as int'l banking.

It sure would be interesting for everyone to do the double-check.

The price quoted for Canada is slightly high as well.

The article gives $5.46/ gallon (U.S. we presume)... which comes out to +/- $1.44 per liter, which is probably the highest price that I have seen this summer. (The price has been closer to $1.35/ liter.)

Actually not that far off, at least not as far as your numbers for Mexico, but on the high end nonetheless.
