Yes, you read correctly - a recent report by the UN suggests the following;

...pointed out severe obesity can reduce life by five to 20 years, ''leading some specialists to conclude that life expectancy in the US is likely to level off and may even fall by 2050".

The report continues with it's bleak analysis, with research already reporting that;

A new study says white Americans with low educational levels have already lost an average of four years from their life expectancy.

The report compares the data with that of post-soviet Russia

That's the loss of 5 per cent of the average lifespan for an American who lacks a high school diploma, and it's happened at astonishing speed - between 1990 and 2008, says the lead investigator for the study, S. Jay Olshansky, a public health professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

It compares to the much-deplored loss of life expectancy in post-Soviet Russia, when the collapse of the state-run system and an epidemic of alcoholism cut seven years from the life of the average Russian.

Overall the US is ranked poorly, on a par with Cubans

And the US overall was not doing very well by international comparison to start with. Americans rank 36th in the world for longevity with an average 78.3 years, almost identical to Cubans, who have one-fifth the level of income. Americans live 3½ years less than citizens of the five top-ranked countries - Japan, Hong Kong, Iceland, Switzerland and Australia.

I understand that this is a result of things such as smoking, drinking, obesity, etc - but it still really surprises me that my American friends live, on average, 4 years less that my fellow Australians.

I predict the life expectancy of people in the USA is going to drop to 40 years old within the next three years. This includes dying by all causes. Accidents will be happening everywhere shortly, all those who are not aware will be making huge mistakes. The smallest living things will cause our death because our immune systems are compromised.

We're all going to die anyway, I'd rather live my life with the utmost enjoyment that I can, rather than constantly worrying about all the things that can kill me. So I party and eat what I want, but only live to be 60 instead of 70+, that's a trade off I'm willing to make, especially considering there's no chance of retirement for me.

Looking at the way the world is, if my life expectancy is shortened, well I'm not exactly upset about that.

I think that even if health trends continue, medical advancements may make up for the difference.

Ageing is typically seen as inevitable, but scientists such as Harvard geneticist David Sinclair, consider ageing a condition that is treatable with medicines, such as plant-compound resveratrol.

Professor Sinclair said: “Our bodies have an extraordinary ability to repair themselves and resveratrol is seemly able to tap into those healing mechanisms. In separate studies, plant-derived compounds have been shown to activate enzymes in mice that trigger their bodies DNA repair process. Those enzymes exist in human bodies too, so the possibility of drugs that slow the ageing process is very likely within our lifetimes.”

Life expectancy of 150 years Science fact within lifetime

Article actually comes from University of New South Wales, but I'm sure Americans will have same access to anti-aging medication.

Also, there is the prospect of nanobots being programmed for medical purposes. Most projections have that as a reality by 2050.

I'm 21 right now and if I avoid accidents or terminal illness in these next 30 years, I fully expect to be able to live well beyond 100.

I just really want to know why there is a requirement for what is obvious to be stated by 'professionals' before such facts are recognized or accepted? It flabbergausts me because these things are all just clearly obvious.

In the world we live in, I question the so called professionals? They get paid to make studies on that which is well known to the world at large in the things that are mere simple insight and well, obvious for goodness sake.

Societies standards of that which is considered intelligent education and scientific studies are clearly meant to make the average person feel ignorant even when we are NOT! This is one example of how they have hijacked our power via a subliminal means to further rob us of our intelligence by stating the obvious via a study like thousands that are done.

Then ofcourse there is the possibility that many people are indeed ignorant and need everything to be spelled out for them. I mean if people want to stuff their faces with gmo non-foods that are essentially killing them, maybe I am giving too much credit to the majority who 'get' what is going on?

Fast Food
Processed Food
GMO Food
Hormones in our food
Chemicals in the air, water and food
Fluoride in the water
Bread and Circus' for the lazy, unfit sheeple

Yes, we all are responsible and accountable for the unhealthy choices we make every day.
However...
Seems to me that our governments are stealthily, slowly, deliberately poisoning us and there seems to be nothing we can do about THAT
JMHO, of course

Did you read the article? What you think may be obvious is not so obvious.

"The reasons for the decline remain unclear, but researchers offered possible explanations, including a spike in prescription drug overdoses among young whites, higher rates of smoking among less-educated white women, rising obesity, and a steady increase in the number of the least-educated Americans who lack health insurance," summarises The New York Times' report of the study.
