im at work right now, so i don't have the time to ask any of the neighbors yet...i was busy all day yesterday doing laundry at my brothers house so
that killed the opportunity to ask them yesterday (responsibility before anything else) so the earliest i can ask anyone is today after i get
home...
im not going to jump to conclusions about what it is...and even though its good to try and narrow it down to some likely candidates, and could be
helpful in how i approach whatever it is
IF i encounter it again , im not going to go out there looking for it... that's a sure fire way to get
in trouble way over my head...
so please, read the thread in its entirety, and feel free to ask questions or offer suggestions, but also... please wait for any new developments...i
don't really have the time to investigate this right this second...
for anyone who has offered suggestions as to what it may be, thanks, i will keep those things in mind, but im also prepared to find out it is not
anything im familiar with...

I'm curious as well as to what the little girl saw or what caused her to scream and run. I do hope you will ask and post the answer here.
I don't think the neighbors would think it odd that you talked to them about it. Just say you heard some kind of animal last night and ask if the kid
is okay.
Actually, I'm a bit confused why you didn't immediately inquire about her. I'd think you'd want to know?
well i have a life that doesn't include chasing my neighbors down with what might be perceived as very odd questions...i don't want them to call the
cops on me for crissakes...and i have never talked to them before, just wave when i see them, so that's kind of an odd way to introduce ones self by
knocking on the door and asking odd questions...and i would not do that at night, that's for sure going to get me the label of a creep...nope, i think
it wise to work into the topic easily after starting some small talk...i think it would be rather rude to just attack them with the
question...

So, please do compare the 'hiss' sound in your video clip to that of a the cougar hissing that i provided. I'd even suggest you look up and listen to
several clips of cougar hissing and even find some clips of bobcat hissing.
It IS a frightening sound (from either cat) even if one has heard it many times. For that matter, you can hear a cougar or a bobcat scream a hundred
times and it'll still lift the hairs on your neck the next time you hear it. =)
While i personally believe the existence of a lot of the creatures listed under the cryptozoology category, in this case i find myself rather firm in
my belief that you heard a cougar or, possibly, a large bobcat.
your clip would not play from either link SeesFar, and no im not an urban person, was raised in the north woods, been hunting since i was 12 and never
heard anything like this before...im 40 now...i may have lived in the city for a while, but im still a country boy...thanks for the link, i might have
to try listening when i get home
now after reading other posts earlier...
for anyone asking why i didn't just shoot it???well first off you have to see what you intend to shoot, just shooting blind is idiotic... also, its
still within "city limits", cant fire a gun in city limits, (stupid new law) and i don't have a concealed carry i would need to carry while i ride,
plus there is not much justification for me in the eyes of the state to even qualify for a concealed carry permit...and you cant just go riding around
with a rifle slung on your back, that is considered brandishing now...
i swear there must be a bunch of twelve year olds here...
