Can anyone just present solid facts on why I should vote for Obama or Romney?

In my opinion this election is not as much about the people representing the party as it is about ideas that both parties have regarding the future of our country and which direction we will be going financially, politically, and domestically. What I'm asking for here are clear facts.

I'm sick of seeing every person that tries to say anything negative about Obama and his campaign get blasted immediately. Even on Facebook I see tons of pro Obama and Romney bashing posts, but hardly any in comparison geared towards Obama. When I look at the facts I know I see that I am paying more money at the gas pump and green energy didn't work as all of those companies are bankrupt. I see the unemployment numbers and I see people struggle daily to make ends meet in this economy. I see our defense budget being stripped and our military still scattered throughout the world. It could just be the part of the country where I live or my age group as I am in my mid 20's, but I'm really just sick of all the bashing.

I want to make it clear that although I have had some strong feelings against Obama and his administration in the wake of the RAPE and MURDER of our US ambassador last week. Seems to me like every liberal television station has tried so hard to downplay any amount of error Obama has going against him Yet when Romney is caught on video stating simple facts that 47% of the nation doesn't pay taxes, he's suddenly a huge asshole. I completely disagree with that. Obama panders to his supporters, Romney could have been reading that statistic off of a piece of paper and been completely accurate, besides the amount of wealthy people that don't pay taxes that he wasn't talking about in that statement. Why can't he say what's on his mind? I've been part of that 47% before and honestly, I'm not upset! I'd rather have a government that helped show me the way to independence rather than economic slavery.

Don't tell me about how he inherited all of this from Bush because he will have no excuse should he inherit his own mess. Dealing with trillions of dollars in added debt when he stated that what Bush added was unpatriotic, on top of being opposed to being honest about what's really going on overseas and the hatred our enemies have for us. I don't sympathize.

I hope that people understand this one fact from my sort of rant/post. I'm really trying to reach out honestly to people on both sides to give me an honest explanation of why one party is better for our country. Tell me how the policies will effect me. Tell me who will be best for my bank account and my future. Back it up with facts. I'm tired of hearing nothing but arguing. Who's plan for the country is better?

I really hope any Obama supporters can avoid bashing me for being frustrated and tell me why my views above are wrong in a polite and intelligent way. As for pro Romney people, feel free to do the same. I feel I'm already on your side, but I'd still like to know WHY Romney and the republicans can take back control of the government and put us on the right path.

Thanks for your patience, I know I rambled!

Well, for starters you do know that YOUR vote doesn't really count right? With that said, these two evils are mere puppets in the grand scheme of things while BIG brothers sit on top of pyramids and pull their strings and sip on a 100 year old scotch.

Dude honestly I would love to believe that too. I'm not opposed to that idea at all. I just want facts. Is there anywhere to find those anymore? Just black and white facts!?

Not a matter of believing or not. When you have open your eyes from a long nap, and you have awakened to the REALITY of how the world works you realize how bad you have been screwed by your own people. I don't need facts for the reality I'm witnessing that is becoming a nightmare by day. If the events that are unfolding daily and you being an ATS member and still blind to the truth, then I'm positive the more political types will hop in here and provide you with the facts you need.

waste of time and effort.... theyre all corrupt ... useless bastards... only thing voting does is give the slaves the illusion of freedom and false belief that they have a voice... the game is rigged.. and not in the peoples favour... waiting for the day the people realise that and flip the board...

I can't think of any solid facts as to why you should vote for one or the other. But there's a huge laundry list of reasons not to vote for either.

There is no Rosetta Stone that will unlock the knowledge you seek. There is no repository either. If you are here to get someone else to point out why you should vote one way or the other (or not vote at all) then you really should reconsider what is important to you, not someone else.

People are different and I am not going to pretend to tell you how or why. You know as well as I do, or at least I should hope, that as long as there are two people then there is disagreement. Politics is mostly a philosophical argument and you should have a pretty good idea what you feel is right and wrong through your own experiences.

So I have to ask you, why are you in here asking for a place you can go to search for all the facts when it comes down mainly to a philosophical argument?

Because to all my liberal friends my opinions and beliefs are wrong. So I'm asking someone to show me FACTUALLY why I'm wrong. If no one can then I'm voting for Romney. I'm asking for someone to try and change my mind with facts. I do believe in black and white facts still . Do you?

since nobody's taking this seriously, I will. Here's one place for you to start:

www.politifact.com...

PolitiFact has compiled more than 500 promises that Barack Obama made during the campaign and is tracking their progress on our Obameter. We rate their status as Not Yet Rated, In the Works or Stalled. Once we find action is completed, we rate them Promise Kept, Compromise or Promise Broken. The report card at right provides an up-to-the-minute tally of all the promises.

So you are seeking "facts" that reinforce your views? Am I getting this right?

You do realize that politics is not mathematics where two plus two always equal four?

If you feel that you are voting for Romney, then do so. I really don't understand the feeling I get that you are standing on a ledge wanting someone to talk you down when I read your comments. Your vote is yours and yours alone. That is the only fact you need to know when voting, All else is just exercises in philosophy.

It sounds like you want to pick and choose your 'facts' as you see them, so let me make this slightly easier on you.

votesmart.org/voteeasy

If you have any questions about the candidates the organization has all their data available to you.

There's also selectsmart.com and votehelp.org

Someone already mentioned that politics is not as cut and dry as math or the hard sciences. No single ideology is more factual or better in some sense than another and politics is all about ideology and a lot of opinions.

Nope.

There are NO solid facts on why you should vote for Obama. Nor are there any solid facts on why you should vote for Romney.

There is no third choice. That's just the way it is. You get to choose our billionaire, or our other billionaire. The fact that all our billionaires are actually related to each other has nothing to do with it.

You are free! Now go watch your TV and wait to be told what to do.

Obama brings some people hope.
Rmoney brings hope to no one.
That's it. Can't think of anything else.
So ask yourself - does Obama bring you hope?

Truthfully, if you're not willing to do the research yourself (instead of getting other people's opinions), go ahead and vote for Romney. But know that you're making a choice based on the OPINIONS of people on the internet, which isn't an EDUCATED choice. If you want to make an educated choice, read about both candidates' positions on the issues and see which one makes the most sense to you.

Obama on the Issues
Romney on the Issues

The biggest reason I'm voting for Obama is that he has shown that his beliefs, political positions and ideals align with mine MUCH more closely than Romney's. Besides, Romney has changed his position 180 degrees on MANY issues over the years. I don't trust him AT ALL. But my personal opinions shouldn't matter to you. You should form your own, NOT based on what people on an Internet discussion board have to say, but based on your own research.

It sounds to me as if you've already made up your mind, though. I hope you're wealthy and never need any help from anyone because Romney's 'Ayn Rand philosophy' will send this country into poverty for the 99% and we'll be at war with Iran by the end of next year...

The two parties have 2 opposing philosophy's . Basicly Democrats believe in big government and more control. Republicans believe in smaller government and more control for individual states. Republicans believe the best social program is a job. Democrats believe the best social program is government. In this election jobs are the biggest issue. Obama wants control of every corporation,Basicly Socialism. He has never had a real job so does not know what business needs to thrive,or does not want it to thrive so government can step in and take it over. Romney was a troubleshooter for business and has a 78% success rate saving those business's. He knows what business needs to thrive. He knows the tax loopholes and he understands the world economy. Obama surrounds himself with people that make him look smart but are ineffective. He chose Biden as his VP. Enough said. Romney will surround himself with smart people. Pretty much an Obama America would look like Cuba. A Romney America will look like America based on our Constitution. Obviously Obama has not worked out so i say give Romney a shot and lets see if he delivers. Another 4 years of Obama does not look good to me.
