'Israeli strike will unite Arabs'- recent protests just a 'preview of events'

One of the biggest impacts an Israeli strike will create is unifying the Arab world.

Egypt-Israeli ties are already strained to say the least since the US supported Mubarak regime was overthrown. Since the Muslim Brotherhood has taken power in Egypt, one could already argue that the peace treaty signed in 1979 no longer stands. If Israel goes through with an attack on Iran, then the region would unite against Israel.

The region is already being sweeped with anti American and anti Israeli sentiment. An Israeli lead attack now would completely destabilise the region.

The policy makers must know this. Surely they know this?

Last August, a mob of angry Egyptians ransacked the Israeli Embassy causing the ambassador to flee the country after Israeli forces accidentally killed six Egyptian border guards while repelling a deadly, cross-border attack by Islamist militants from Sinai. Last week, a crowd scaled the walls of the US Embassy in Cairo, ripping down the Stars and Stripes and replacing it with an Islamist flag in fury at a video produced in California ridiculing the Prophet Mohammed.

The US official reportedly told the Israelis: "What happened with the film is just a preview of what will happen in the case of an Israeli strike."

For policy planners, this is obviously a problem. They need Iran to strike the first blow in order to justify a military attack on Iran.



Benjamin Netanyahu is arguably one of the most dangerous men in the world right now, his actions in the coming weeks or months are what will shape this world from here on in.

This is a subject I'm highly interested in and I think you're right.

New leaders in the Arab world are participating in UN meetings in NY for the first time this week, maybe something positive can come of that. Although, there is equal risk for some type of inflammation. I wrote a thread about it:

Sorry if that reeks of self promotion, but if anyone wants to see my thoughts on this that is where you'll find them.

Islam is global in another sense. The film insulting the Prophet is only the latest in the litany of hurt and disrespect the West has inflicted on Islam. Muslims everywhere feel this hurt and react out of shared emotion. They are essentially making a collective demand on the West to respect their religion. This is not dissimilar from other global ethical demands like those associated with human rights and the environment - global issues about which people around the world feel deeply. The problem for the West is that it must organise its response to global problems and claims through the local politics of its nation-states. This is how Obama becomes hamstrung between his election campaign and the worldwide demands on US policy. Global Islam exposes this weakness, but it applies far more generally.

First of all, it would unite the Arabs. However, they are already united through their religion.

Second of all, there are more than Arabs in the Middle-East. And they cannot all be united if you look at historical context. For instance, an Iranian-Arab unification is like superman hugging cryptonite.

Third of all, you omitted the Kurdish people of these countries. They've already stated loud and clear that if America or Israel would attack Iran they would NOT stand with the Islamic regime. Just as the Kurdish did not stand with Saddam or Assad(both dictators) they will not stand with Ahmadinejad. This in essence means, that as soon as an attack on Iran is on the way, Iran has already lost most of it's north-western and western mountain ranges, without a shot being fired.

You're mistaken if you think the majority of Middle Easterners would fight for a religion that has barbarically oppressed the majority of its people. The majority of people in the Middle-East are just waiting for freedom. Waiting to ditch the yolk of Islam.

I agree with you but it isn't the 'people' fighting the wars is it?

If the people had a say, then America wouldn't be involved in all the wars she has been.

This thread is essentially in regards to Egypt, which is under the MB.

Just as forces are at work trying to manipulate Americans into hating Islamic extremists, there are forces (such as the MB) making people in Egypt etc turn on the west and Israel.

For example, who do young Egyptians blame for unemployment?

- The Mubarak dictatorship

- Who funded the Mubarak dictatorship to support Israel- America.

So people are being united in the region- united in hating us and the torment our foreign policy has caused them- and the Muslim Brotherhood is making sure this is spreading like wildfire throughout the region.

Another classic case of Narrative of Lies and attempted manipulation by your ingenious post.

Israel and Egypt are working CLOSELY together to eradicate the Islamist militant threat in their borders, and not the schisms as you had posted.

Misunderstandings may had occurred, but both sovereign states share a common aim - eradication of 3rd party paid mercenaries by an apostate leader nearby in the Sinai attempting to provoke hatred and annihilation of each other.

There is no need for Americans to hate islamic militancy. EVERY civilised human who had eyes wide open and a rational brain hate those radical islamists for their humanslaying agendas.

Egypt is a sovereign state and elected in a free election. It charts its own course and direction, no matter how much those greedy for power in that nation will attempt with their narratives of lie to bring down the govt. Ultimately, in our present world, the rule of law and respect for human rights is what separates rogue barbaric states against civilised ones.

And the performace of the MB for the next few years is on record for all to see. No use for blaming anyone else for national failures. The world is interconnected today and nothing can be hidden for long, and mankind's perceptions are based upon the 5 senses of reality, no longer figments of 'future' but unaccountable gains, for no mortal can and had ever predicted the future correctly.

As for the unity of arabs in the event of an israeli strike, 2 things to take note.

a) our interconnected world will cut through most BS from either side.

b.) No muslim nation has nuke weapons, even though they will support TRANSPARENT peaceful nuke energy, something Persia is not doing. Would the majority of peaceful nations willingly allow Persia, which is only a minority Shia state, such powers as North Korea has, more so when the use or misuse of religion is far more powerful and deadly upon non Shia nations?

But do go ahead with the attempt to continue with the Narrative of Lies, because, fortunately, there are far more intelligent head of states in the real world and know what's going on with the REAL game being played, than the audiences here.
