Sadly your opinion does not alter the reality that words can have multiple meanings or uses, and that the inference made by that terminology can differ drastically as a result of context.

For example we 'manipulate' objects with our hands, like a toilet seat.
Does this indicate the manner of manipulation was deceitful in any way?
No, it's not even a relevant judgement.

Great post heff! Star and Flag! I think we are all capable of being manipulated and there is not much we can do about it! Though there are times when manipulation of an emotional response is a good thing! In seeing the pics you posted I am both sad and angry at the 911 pic, the woman with the sign, the sick and hungry children and the coffins! I am scared by the atomic explosion and the marching gestapo. As for the other pictures they did not affect me that much, though some were disturbing! I think any emotional response can be a calculated one!
Seeing the first four pictures i talked about made me think of how these things have been perpetuated by our elitist leaders! I see emotion as a tool to gaining a response and as long as we allow our logic to analyze this reasoning our actions will be unavailed! It's when we allow a response through pure emotion without any forethought to that action. This is when we most become like puppets! I have trained my mind to never give an emotional response without forethought! This is something I have attained when i was younger because of constant teasing and reactions which made me regretful! This can be attained as long as we allow ourselves to rationalize beyond the triggering mechanism! Goodluck to all in maintaining your composure! You know. I never really thought about how I was able to understand when i was being decieved or when someone was trying to manipulate my actions but now i see the connections! TY again Heff.

Mostly gibberish, but I get it.

"Leaving the entire system" does not entail "unlearning how to ride the bike" so to speak.
You just have to decide to 'stop riding the bike', and choose another form of 'transportation' instead, even possibly 'walking'.

Refusing to 'ride the bike' will not eliminate your knowledge of how to do so, but it can alter the scenario of life drastically.

Start trying to raise the bar, uplift yourself to a higher standard.

Just find something about your behavior in life that you want to change, and no matter how fearful you are, face adversity and try as best as you can to overcome it.

I would rather actually fail over and over until I finally get things right, rather than waste away never having the chance because I wasn't willing to try.

we're subjected to varying degrees of manipulation every day, in the newspapers, on tv, radio etc. it's no biggie. the trick is to be discerning and to recognise attempts at manipulation for what they are.

I wish it was as simple as it.

I have taken steps over the last few years to reduce the amount of reliance on the system but will always feel hypocritical unless i truly leave it behind.

So going back to the OP I have been manipulated and know that I have been manipulated yet do nothing about it.

So would you class the system as manipulating us or programming us ?

Essentially the only parts you should dismiss are the fallacious or untrue parts. Whereas since everyone also is guilty of telling the truth just as much as they are guilty of lying, we should heed the wisdom that discernment, inquisition, and investigation will 'separate the wheat from the chaff'.

It is well known that judging the message by the character of the messenger is not an accurate measure of veracity, but rather conformity with the facts of reality serves as a far better criteria.

Shouldn't kill the messenger just because he 'plays for the other team'.
