If you are talking about the Catholic church, protestants aren't Catholic. Protestants were persecuted and killed just like Pagans. There is a reason we broke from the Catholic Religion and came to America ...

Please do not tell me Atheist do not rape children? Please do not tell me Agnostics rape children? Please do not tell me parents rape their children?

What I was trying to say with a bit of sarcasm is that religion alone is not to blame for the rape of children, It's the sick individuals that do it for reasons unknown to me. You could go out as far as the Congo rainforest, the Himalayas or even Pau pau New Guinea and come across such incidents.

This is not marketing. If it was marketing they'd make sure that Muslims would also buy it.

Are you sure its not marketing? An obscure magazine nobody outside of a small circle knows or cares about suddenly becomes world-famous, generating Millions of website hits across the internet for nothing more than a few pictures of questionable quality.

Marketers know controversy sells and they milk the bandwagon for all its got.

Yes, I'm sure it's not marketing. If anything, it's the rioting Muslims doing the marketing.

What are millions of web hits to a guy that has to walk around with armed guards all the time over a satirical cartoon. It's a French satirical magazine in French for crying out loud. They didn't even bother writing the speech bubbles in English knowing in advance there would be international commotion? Not marketing, just satire.

I find these riots more offensive than a few lines and some colours on printing paper.

I find these riots a predictable, expected and desired result of provocation, as these cartoons and films are designed to de-stabilize national relationships with a cultural subset of the population and, by extension, entire countries (as we are seeing now). They serve no purpose other than to stoke the flames of hatred in the hope of starting outrage, if not outright war.

Hatred begets hatred.

If they don't like it they can move back to a country that doesn't allow it.
Otherwise live like the French.
For the Western world to be falling over themselves to accommodate other cultures is ludicrous.
Would you expect the Saudis to change their ways to please your beliefs?
Islam is still at war with the non-muslim world and will do anything to expand their dominance.
Let them riot then jail them and deport them.

Look at it this way - can you imagine Christians rioting over the Monty Python movie The Life of Brian? Yes, it;s that ridiculous. It's called getting "face time" for your cause. Pathetic that people feel so insignificant that they must attach their whole life's meaning to something outside themselves like making a show out of religion.

I disagree.
Whereas, I do completely agree it's ridiculous that anyone would be offended by a cartoon or a stupid film. Especially now that it's 2012.
But I have to disagree about it being ludicrous to try to accommodate other people who share this world. That's just called respect. And the thing about true respect, is that it's never a requirement that it's given to you first.

Would you expect the Saudis to change their ways to please your beliefs?

No, I wouldn't. But would I be humbled and elated if they did? Yeah, probably. If the fundamentalists decided to be respectful and have a sense of humor all of a sudden, wouldn't you feel better too? But that's not going to be the case. And the fact of the matter is that this newspaper DOES have the 'right' to do what they want, but what happens when somebody (heaven forbid a child) gets hurt or killed because of someones stupid ego want's to prove that they can put out a cartoon? Congratulations cartoonist, you did it. And now you have also caused not only fundamentalists to be upset, but other innocent people who were affected by their actions.

There is no need to stoke this. No need for anyone to prove anything. People need to put down their ego. On all 'sides.' And it always starts with "me."

I applaud them for doing this. I'm tired of people walking on egg shells around a group of people (muslims) who seem to be the only group left on this planet living in the 13th century. I'm sick of them being catered to because they can't stand to have their beloved prophet mohammed spat on. They hate being disrespected, but they won't stop burning US flags or any of that nonsense. I hope people continue to burn qurans, keep drawing mohammed naked and doing more stuff because I am very fed up with the muslim population.

Anyone else getting tired of people who are so easily offended over dumb stuff?

It's called freedom of speech, freedom of ideas, freedom of expression.

You would think, but simple tried and true logic isn't welcome here, apparently.

So I just express myself by having gay butt sex with the prophet mohammad regularly, but I don't ever give him a reach-around, because he would like that too much

Absolutely. Their childish response is all too predictable. Death to all westerners! How pathetic. These people are a mindless lot. It really is embarrassing to call them humans. I could go on, but what's the point.

GOOD FOR THEM!

This this thing needs to be nipped in the butt, and now is the time.

If it happens that every time some idiot makes an "offensive" cartoon, that hudreds of thousands of muslims begin protesting, rioting, burning flags, and killing people, then we need to do two things:

1. Get every one of our people out of that wretched hellhole of a place
2. Start mass producing Muhammad cartoons and lifting a much deserved finger to the muslim world.

I'm just about sick of this BS, and I don't care to empathize with their twisted perspective even one bit.

You know what they say,"F 'em if they can't take a joke." "Ladies and gentlemen, The Aristocrats!" Oh, do you suppose that's why the elite are out to get us?

Earlier, I heard someone on NPR from some other country saying that it's Obama's responsibility to stop Americans from making fun of Islam. Wow, just wow.

Amen to that. I'm tired of the world having to walk on eggshells around these half-wits. The entire middle east needs to grow the hell up.

You didn't see Christians killing people when an "artist" put a crucifix in a jar of urine did you? Were they rioting, burning cars, burning flags AROUND THE WORLD? Or when some other genius smeared dung on a picture of the virgin Mary? Did Christians around the world act like a bunch of Neaderthals on a rampage?

Prehistoric morons, who somehow believe a cartoon of Mohammed is somehow going to render their religion null and void. Hell, if it's that easy, a young child could draw a crude stick figure and write "Mohammed" under it and these idiots would be out destroying the neighborhood.

why don't we drop millions of micro sd cards with these cartoons and this film from drones on to all moslom cities plus some porn to get them hooked?

plus cd just like AOL free internet trial cd which would liberate them from this medieval nonsense?

we need to keep on producing factual films and keep ramming these films down their throats.

i have an idea.

remember how AOL used to send millions of free internet trial cds to everyone.

do the same.

send the offending film and cartoons plus free internet trial and some juicy porn to all mosloms.

lets corrupt them until become less stick up there ass.

or drop millions of micro sd cards onto moslom cities with this.

and transmit more porn and profit films to them.

These movies, cartoons, depictions, etc.. and the reactions by the Muslim world at large, are being used to energize the crowd of non-Muslims before the big show that Israel and the greater powers of the western world are about to produce in the middle-east. Non-Muslims will see the irrational and violent behavior of Muslims across the globe and lose any shred of sympathy or tolerance they might've had post 9/11, and support and promote any war that is about to take place. This latest French stunt won't be the last.

False Flags of the propaganda kind.

Someone sure knew exactly which buttons to push, huh?

Let`s face it - most of us think religion is a joke. Of course there is spirituality i.e something bigger than our ego but the idea of some bloke in a skirt either mo, JC or Dal having supernatural powers is magical thinking.

The sooner the west destroy the idea that the middle eastern countries are a threat to them the better. There will be a bit of bloodshed along the way but it will be worth it.
