hi
Mitt Romney on Tuesday didn't back away from remarks he made in a secretly recorded video casting supporters of President Barack Obama as dependent on welfare, and instead said the comments that generated more problems for him in a tight race were an honest reflection of his campaign's message.
"This is a message I'm carrying day and day out and will carry over the coming months," Romney said on Fox News. "This is a decision about the course of America, where we're going to head. We've seen the president's policies play out over the last four years."dainik bhasker

Just out of curiosity, can somebody explain to me how this ideology is anything new and why this video is making such major headlines. It was always my belief that the Republican's (whom want less government interference for social services and such) always thought Democrat's(Who want more government aid and basically bigger government control over most things that effect our daily lives) were dependent on government. Isn't that why they vote for the democratic party? To get their ideologies signed to paper by their candidate?

Please correct me if I am either way off or I am missing something. This news just doesn't seem like the huge 'slap in the face' to the Romney campaign that the media is making it out to be.....

Romney is right. We are victims! We are victims of @sshats like him. I remember very well who and what caused this recession!!

Romney is also correct to assume people who use social benefits will not get his vote. These are people who need to survive. They have mouths to feed. They know better than to rely on the promise of a guy who made a fortune putting people out of work. They know who sees them as lazy bottom feeders.

I work fulltime and attend school full time. I work one of those jobs nobody wants to work. And thank God I have a job!! I also take care of a family of four on a very small income. Yes, I do qualify for many social benefits, though I only use WIC and Medicaid for my children. MY wife and I already pay several hundred a month for our health insurance and we simply cannot afford to convert to a family plan. We do not use food-stamps even though we can. We manage without them.

He11 yah I am entitled. I am entitled to receive a direct return on the investment I’ve been forking over to Uncle Sam for the past 15 years.

So I don’t pay taxes? Really? I’m actually paying more in taxes than I receive in social benefits. That’s a fact. I wish the government would stop taxing me altogether and allow me the dignity of paying my own way with the money I’d have left over.

The government isnt taking from the rich and redistributing to the poor. The government is redistributing to the poor what they are taking and have already taken from the poor. They take millions from Romney and he might lose an hour of fuel on his Gulfstream. They take thousands from me and my family struggles to make it from paycheck to paycheck.

A dollar to Romney is not even worthy to wipe the dingles off his hairy Morman azz. A dollar to me would buy a loaf of bread which would make a lot of PB&J sandwiches for my kids.

As for those without jobs, I really feel for them. It’s such a shame to be in a position where you need to rely on a government agency to put food on your table. It’s degrading pull out that bridge car @ the store. Shame on any politicians who look down on these people with contempt. Perhaps our politicians should spend even one day in the shoes of some of these people. It’s not walk in the park.

Our government should be handing out benefits to us while we’re struggling. Its our money, not theirs. I’m sick and tired of the imaginary top down approach. It doesn’t work. It never has.

And I do not see whay our military needs any more money than it already gets. We already have the galaxies biggest military budget. We dont need to fight an intergalatic war. I'm sure, despite what Paul Ryan thinks, there much more corruption and mismangement in the military industrial complex than there is in social benefits. It wasn't medicaid/welfare/foodstamp programs which misplaced ~$1,000,000,000,000 without a trace.

Ya I agree he screwed up the percentage...ok so we know that. We also know it will be spun 360 directions to next Sunday.

It has not been spun yet. It does not need to be. I am not sure you know what spin is.

His was fundamentally correct in that Obama is creating a Nanny state and so people will vote for him just on the idea they will get entitlements from it, AND Romney knows those are lost to him, and there is nothing he can do to win those votes because he is not offering a Nanny state too.

BTW do you really think in his spur of the moment statement he truly wanted to include the military and those who have retired from a long working career? Or is that your example of some spin too?

Spur of the moment??????

You know you are full of crap. How far will I have to look to find just one other Republican saying half the country pays no taxes? Yeah, he said what he said. There is nothing to spin.

The problem is that Romney might have sounded too much like and out of touch rich guy.

If the swing voters think you are a rich, arrogant pecker head, you are gonna have a hard time
getting them to vote for you. Romney essentially disparaged half the country many of whom actually
work everyday...

He needs some of those lazy, no good, working class peons.

I do not see why anyone would have a problem with his statement. Everyone knows that the true evil is Obama's socialist attitude about being president of EVERYONE. Asshat that he is.
"Even though you did not vote for me, I hear your voice." - Obama
"My job is not to worry about them [47% of the country]" - Romney
What's to hate?

He said that my retired parents and my military uncles are freeloaders who take no responsibility for their lives and he does not need to care about them. Is that part of the Republican party mainstream campaign? It seems a little new to hear admitted like that. He called them victims, said they feel entitled. He insulted people that fought for this country and worked hard all their lives but did not manage to die the day after retiring.

Ya, he is not gonna make friends if he is putting down people and their family members.

He must have placed a short sale on his own campaign...

80% of non-retired people pay taxes.

96% of people between 45-55 years old pay taxes.

The VAST VAST majority of people that don't pay taxes are over the age of 60.

Those free-loaders should be rounded up and turned into Soylent Green,

They are free-loading parasites.

If we ate everyone, over the age of 60, we could EASILY extend the Bush tax cuts forever, we could EASILY get rid of Medicare and hey, ... what food crisis?!

Does the truth really scare you?

There was no gaff by Romney. He is stating the truth and the press is scare. I hope the press keeps pushing that issue that way more people will understand what we are facing.

Obama has lied almost everytime he steps in front of a mic. Yet, the press refuse to report the truth there. But they try to make the truth look bad when Romney speaks it.

I see a civil war coming. The press will be responsible for starting it. Obama will be responsible for failing to act, thats his record. When a crisis hits, go to a fund raiser of go golfing.

Avoid responsibility. That is Obama in a nutshell.

I think you were quite correct and that was the intent. As LBJ said about his expansion of the welfare state;"“I’ll have those n#$$%&s voting Democratic for the next 200 years.”
- Lyndon B. Johnson"

The intent was to get people to vote for whomever would give them the most stuff. DIsgusting concept and LBJ's wrods were disgusting and shows the distain he had for the people he allegedly wanted to help, but it did work.

My bad.

I hope that the mods keep this post up. When the leftists resort to mindless insults, it obviously means that we are winning. Since you can't debate and discuss the issues without vomiting purile posts like this, I can imagine that you are a perfect example of someone who wishes that government does the thinking for you.

Good luck with that.

I'm glad the debate is front and center.

- Stop with the entitlement mentality. -

- The USA is starting to look like Greece. -

47 million Americans on Food Stamps is a disgrace. We deserve better than that.

2 things
1. People like Rmoney did this to USA. So complaining about people in need when you put them there... Well to hell with you then, lowlife. Hypocrite isn't a strong enough word to describe this republican.
Some of them knew of the housing bubble. And some knew it was about to go POP! And what Rmoney and people like him has done for the last 30 years - the housing bubble is just the tip of the iceberg. There will be much more to come. They never learn because they don't want to and apparently they don't have to.
2. Maybe he don't want to be president? Maybe after becoming the rep. nominee he got the real numbers and stats and got cold feet?
I find myself wondering just who would want to be president of USA these days. Maybe in the future "You could be president of The United States of America" will be a threat moms use to scare their kids to behave...
