Newsweek's 'Muslim Rage' cover becomes Twitter joke

Newsweek got a lot of feedback today when they asked people to discuss their latest cover on Twitter. Well a discussion they got which ranged from angry to funny, which mostly mocked the picture. The article associated with the cover was written by Ayaan Hirsi Ali who is a feminist, an atheist activist, and according to Huffington Post she's anti Muslim.

Newsweek's controversial "Muslim Rage" cover was meant to spark discussion on anti-American violence, but instead became a joke on Twitter among Muslims and non-Muslims alike.

The magazine is taking criticism for the cover, which screams "MUSLIM RAGE" in all caps atop a photo of two wild-eyed, bearded men.

The new issue also leads with an article by the highly-polarizing Ayaan Hirsi Ali about the protests in the Middle East and elsewhere worldwide over a film produced in the US that mocks the Prophet Muhammad.

Magazine editors invited readers to discuss the cover using the hashtag #muslimrage, which has since been mocked on Twitter.

I saw a cartoon of that once online. Allah was telling the guy "I never said the virgins were females"....as they looked into a room full of computer nerds.

I dont get the whole virgin thing. They make sexuality "bad", make women cover thier bodies and faces, then they use sex as a reward in heaven? Someone help me here. Religion is so messed up.

Dont let those issues mislead you, they dont respect their women at all, they oppress them. They think its ok to rape any women because they know that the women will not dare report it out of fear of being burned alive or stoned to death by a mob.

I was speaking about extremists. Not muslims in general. Not all muslims believe in the virgin reward after death. Seems this idea of virgins was cooked up to attract young men.

Kind of makes one wonder if this religion's holy documents were written by men, for men, doesn't it?

And I'm not saying the holy books of other religions weren't written with the same regard for women...
