Wow ATS, you surprise me. As much attention that has been given to images from the Mars rover Curiosity, I'm surprised that this image has not made it to the forums, especially the UFO and Aliens forum!

So, knowing it will most likely be posted by someone at some point, I'll go ahead and post the picture.

This image was taken by Curiosity's right mast cam on Sol 40 (2012-09-16 07:15:15 UTC), which was yesterday. Here is a small scale version of the picture:

And the link to it: Right Mast Cam, Sol 40

Taking a look at the full resolution version, I noticed something. First here is the link to the full resolution version:

Right Mast Cam, Sol 40, Full Res

And now here is the cropped version by me (cropped to fit on this post):

What say you ATS members? Rock?

Or Alien Skull?

(I knew this would be coming, so might as well post it and see what people think).

I think it looks more like a rock than an alien skull.

Plus, it's hard to tell the scale from the picture. Is the object 2 feet wide or 2 inches? If it's 2 inches, that's one crazy tiny alien.

It's got to be a Sasquatch, proving that Andrew Basiago really was on Mars along with Obama and a bunch of dinosaurs.

I see strange little shapes and figures in the rocks I find on Earth. How in the hell am I supposed to identify real fossils from photographs when I can't even do it in person on Earth?

would be wild if the images were in fact shrinked skeletal parts thanks LP
as off the wall as it sounds I think many have to go on intuition / sense / what you feel is going on up there. It is possible when space craft go into space they experience time issues even with live broadcast on times of equipment from this time period of EA*RTH just to add...

I dont know about any of the mars images.. I think I could closely replicate most of them in my driveway..
Scale is certainly a issue,, who knows?

It looks like a rock to me.................but saying that, if it was an alien skull how would we know if it was or it wasn't?

Do any of us know what an alien looks like?

Therefore, how do we know what an alien skull looks like?

Maybe secrets are in some individuals dna and they can see some images and get feedback subconsciously on them
good question though

What????
No one mentioned the possibility that it is part of a tiny civilization?

It could be one of their condominiums.

Alien skulls on Mars are a dime a dozen. I'm more interested in the huge tiny megalith to the right.

Will be "interesting" what "The Seer" has to say.

Eric,
It is quite obviously Edmund Blackadder's Codpiece. He must have lost it when he fell off his 'orse!
BTW, when mentioning Blackadder, it comes to mind that the series is thought to have been named after a BBC doctor, whose name is ERIC Blackadder, dah, dah! Anyway, I have a theory about that rock sorry, Codpiece, I'll bet my pair of sweaty underpants that if Curiosity drives over it, it will crumble to nothing, and all that will be left is a few spots of dust, and maybe a little moisture on the wheels.

ROFL to many of the responses! They've given me a good chuckle.

In truth I was trying to see if there was a higher resolution picture of one area in paticular, when this one caught my eye. I chuckled (because yah, it does look like some sort of skull out of some "B" horror or sciFi movie), and I called my wife over to look. Her response?

"Huh? NO WAY! So who faked it?"

I had to tell her: "NASA apparently, look, it's from their web site."

But seriously, I expected a thread on it already here and was kind of shocked not to find one. I guess our attention is more on the middle east right now.

I'm gonna go with rock also. But to make both sides happy it could be a skull from a rock Martian. Or it could be one of these, sorry I could watch that damn thing dance all day
