Hitler had already been defeated, it was the Japs who were to be finished off and to be honest, using two nukes was a bit excessive. I think one would have been enough if any at all. What a horrible weapon to drop on civilians, disgusting.

Actually the japanese weren't going to surrender until the bombs were dropped, they were prepared to Kamikazee all the way to the end. When Littleboy and Fatman dropped that was it. Yeah you're right Hitler was dead before the bombs dropped but he already knew they were coming so that had to be a downer. He screwed up when he pissed Stalin off, who was already paranoid to begin with and Stalin saw Hitler as a threat to his own empirical vision.
