Is it just me or does congress work less than substitute teachers? (No offense meant to substitute teachers.)

Majority Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va., announced on Friday that, after next week, the House won’t be returning to session until after the Nov. 6 elections.

A planned one-week session in Washington at the start of October has been scrapped. That means when the House adjourns next Friday, the chamber will not be scheduled to cast any votes again until Nov. 13.

Minority Whip Steny Hoyer, D-Md., responded on the floor with some incredulity, saying that although there remains much legislation left to be completed, Cantor’s announcement means that lawmakers now have about two days of session work remaining. The two then argued about which party is to blame for stalled or no action on such issues as the farm bill, postal-service reform, the Violence Against Women Act, and renewing the George W. Bush-era tax cuts.

“Unfortunately, the Do Nothing Congress wants to go home,” Pelosi said.

I rarely agree with what Pelosi says but this time I have to agree this is a do nothing congress. We rarely hear much about congress and this is probably why. They have a job they hardly ever do and are hardly ever there for. Some of these people have the gall to talk about people living off the government when as far as I am concerned that is exactly what they are doing. I know there are a few good Congressmen but that is it most of them are more concerned about looking busy than being busy. I wish we could throw them all out and start new. We should fire congress.

If the people working in congress has given up, perhaps it tells you something important about who rules society.

I have an idea, when they aren't working they don't get PAID like pretty much everyone else. Put them on an hourly wage instead of salary.

They haven't given up. It's just that their goals are vastly different from what they are supposed to be. Congress (most of them) work as little as possible, get as little as possible accomplished and make tons of money while they're at it.

Who rules society are the ones with the money who bribe Congress to serve them. Take Sheldon Adelson, for example. He stands to make $2 Billion on Tax Savings if Romney is elected.

MONEY rules this country.

Earning the name "Do Nothing Congress" certainly is an honor isn't it? I would think that with their current arrproval rating at an all time low, the fact that we have an ever increasing international situation unfolding and the fact that there are serious domestic issues to resolve if they really gave to hoots they would for go their 'vacation' stay put and hammer out some resolutions. *sigh*

Here is a telling website with various poll numbers showing just what the American people feel about their congress, and if the numbers are 'real' it really puzzles me why these jokers get elected time and again.

Every election they talk about how they try to be bipartisan and work across the lines and after the election it is business as usual to where it doesn’t matter if it is a good piece of legislation or not if it isn’t from their party they will not vote for it.

It can be their own idea but if it isn’t introduced from their side it isn’t any good. I can’t be the only one sick of the crap they do.

Republican or democrat they all stink.

Ah yes, Mr. Adelson, bff of Netanyahu, both of whom are staunch Romney supporters. The very same Adelson who has stated several times that he is willing to personally dump up to $100m into the Republican elections this year and who's contributions to the Romney campaign thus far has made him the single highest individual donor. Makes me ill. But thank you for providing that link, because I did not know he could stand to receive such a return on his 'political campaign investment'.... just boggles the mind.

The highest rating was from Fox news and that was 40% way higher than anyone else probably because it is republican controlled but it is still a failing grade.

U.S. Term Limits

They should all have experation dates. IE term limits. It will never happen though.

Cut top tax rates, saving Adelson approximately $1.5 million on his annual compensation as chief executive of his casino company.
• Maintain the special low rates on dividends, potentially saving Adelson nearly $120 million on a single year’s worth of dividends, more than enough to recoup his politi- cal donations.
.

That is just sickening! Of course he will make a campaign contribution of a 100 mil.

No wonder I feel like if Romney gets elected anyone that makes less than 7 figure income is going to get hosed. I read something today where Romney said he thinks the middle American income is between 200k to 250k a year.U.S. middle income Romney says
