There is reports out of Beijing that a local media station posted links online that advocate for a nuclear strike on Japan:

"While Chinese media brought the rhetoric to fever-pitch levels, with the Beijing Evening News posting "a link to an article comparing weaponry for a potential with Japan, claiming that China should use the atomic bomb" and protesters holding placards calling on the government to “Declare war on Japan [to] settle new scores and old scores together,” apprehensions of war remain premature."

All this about some small islands in the East China Sea. Taiwan, China and Japan all claim them. Everyone wants them because they have oil and gas deposits. How sad a world...can't we all just get along? Now we all have to worry about this too?

Yes your quite right, how on earth could any nuclear bomb worry Japan, they got Nuked in WW2, they got nuked in power station explosions, the people there are immune to radiation now, they would just laugh at a bomb from China on them, and would let China buy lots more of the nice radiated fish they use now.

Exactly this. Don't mistake individuals for any kind of representation of government intent.

Like a dip-sh*t yelling "nuke 'em" in regard to Iran. Same thing.

Again? While they're still dealing with China's Fukushima incident?

Is this to deflect radiation measurements away from Fukushima and on to Japan? That's the only reason I could think this would be a good idea.

Zero. Sense.

If I was China the nuclear option on Japan would be totally off the table. Whom in China would want the wrath of Godzilla and Mothra unleashed on the Chinese mainland? At least they'd have some new buildings to knock down, Tokyo has been destroyed by Godzilla so many times it should be a crater.

Seriously though, why nuke one of your main trading partners? Diplomatic or a limited naval/ground skirmish may get your business back in a few years but nuking kind of kills the local customer base and alienates others around the world from buying Chinese goods.

Nukes aren't needed for this minor problem when you have other nearby naval and land resources to handle this situation.
