Why do I have a really bad feeling that the recruiting has either moved deeper underground? And besides, are we going to do this indefinitely?
Getting rid of the leaders at the top right now doesn't kill the animosity towards a nation. It just puts the activity on hold.

But drone attacks is fine by him the anti war crowd put Obama in office and the dude has the highest record of drone attacks in the past 4 years and 8 years of the last guy.

Only a fool believes a word he says it is election time and the recent events just for poltical show because it polls good for him.

The record:

THe ironic thing is that Obama has reversed himself on all of those points: we still do "enhanced interrogation," GITMO is still open, he re-auhtorized and expanded the patriot act, rendition still happens, and we still are in Iraq and Afghanistan. Everything Obama condemned Bush about, Obama still does now that he is president.

WHY do we need 20k, In the skies of America?

Seriously, WHY? What purpose?

Something is a miss.

I love the thread. Very timely here as I have at least one friend who has seen DHS drones overflying his home repeatedly now and they do apparently swing back around and look at who is looking at them when it strikes their fancy on the domestic ones. (Where he lives has a lot to do with it...but that shouldn't negate a man's privacy in standing in his own back yard, eh?)

Now Obama's license to kill and the way he apparently delegates authority I don't even trust HIM having...or ANY one Man, any man....is scary. The delegation is unacceptable entirely.

I'm not sure, honestly, how much is nefarious about all this though. The reason I say that is simple. When Obama had first announced Janet for DHS, I was still running back and forth across the nation and spending a lot of time in Arizona on the trip out and back. I read a lot that way from local perspectives....and one thing that came out about Aunt Janet was her LOVE of Gizmos... I guess there isn't a problem in life she can't find a contractor to pay for a new gizmo to solve. Making her Cabinet level just made it a nightmare as I gather.

Obama is the Gizmo-lover in Chief. Note how one of his first acts over over-riding the Secret Service and ordering that there WOULD be a Presidential-level secure Blackberry just for him. No debates.

I think we are, in part, seeing the product of a leadership in absolute love with toys and high tech garbage, at the expense of the tried and true. Ultimately, and where this may eventually lead......Why have 20 cops patrolling a town's streets on a shift when you can have 10 cops and 2 drones at 5,000 feet for a fraction of the cost? No pension....no medical...no bitching about needing a day off. I think that KIND of idiot thinking is what is driving 20,000 drones into our skies. Wishful thinking based on PAPER driven outcomes.

My Murphy is sitting out there somewhere, quietly tinkering with his ACME universal remote control and laughing hysterically.

Starred and flagged, my friend. You speak the truth, unlike the Commander in Chief. I would just change one word in your title, namely to remove the word "Almost". This President truly despises the American way of life, and has been doing everything he can to change it into a third world socialist state, with no middle class, and no businesses not controlled nor run by the government. Looking at the actions such as the drones over our sacred land, the NDAA act, the attacks on virtually every one of the Bill of Rights, and his attacks on religious freedom, and abandonment of our allies, I don't see how ANYONE can vote for this clown. Then again, given the way that the MSM is in the tank for him, many people only get one side of the story. If 10 years ago, someone would tell me that thousands of drones would be flying over American soil, spying on Americans, I would have called them crazy. We live in sad times, my friend.

Yes it is. But I think I might be a reading comprehension issue more than anything...

You're referring to the article you linked to, ,from the Telegraph, right?
Where do you get 20k as the number of drones in the skies of America?
The only 20,000 in that article is the number of students at the University of Georgia.

And the very first paragraph says:

Documents obtained under Freedom of Information laws show that show that more than 50 non-military organisations have asked to fly drone aircraft, many of which can carry cameras and surveillance equipment for spying within the US.

These are OTHER non-military agencies asking if they can have drones for their work in the US...to spy and fight the so-called war on drugs, etc.
Approved by the FAA in regard to the legality of flying unmanned aircraft.

This does not even imply that the US Government is issuing them or that it approves of the purposes intended with these requests.

In fact, it also says:

A spokesman for the North Little Rock Police Department told the Wall Street Journal that it was only using its unmanned helicopter for training over unpopulated areas but hoped to eventually fly it above crime-ridden neighbourhoods and use it to gather intelligence for major drug cases.

In one of the few examples of an application being rejected, the FAA refused to sign off on a request by campus police at the Georgia Institute of Technology, a force tasked with protecting and keeping order among the university's 20,000 students.

In response to the revelation both Democrats and Republicans in Congress last week wrote to the FAA demanding that it take into account privacy concerns before approving deployments.

It's like Sheriff Buford T. Justice asking for a drone to spy on those dang hillbillies in that fast car with that moonshine still...exaggerated, of course...but because Uncle Sam uses one over there to fight the terrorists...that Buford T. Justice hates more than those dang hillbillies...Buford is thinking well..golly...he needs one, too!

So instead of asking the department of Justice or someone like that...they ask the FAA...if they can fly a super-sized remote control plane with a camera on it to fight crime.

And so when Congress finds out...they say...HEY remember that you must respect the constitutional rights of the people who you want to catch in the act of committing crimes.

Link to the article again

That's what I get out of the article...what did you get?
Assuming you read it for comprehension, that is.

Thank you for the further information. I was confused...but really, I still am.

Not because of what you are saying but the way that these articles link together and I wind up at the FAA site on the page about NextGen which is, if I understand correctly, a system that will change the vantage point of air traffic control from the tower to the sky with GPS?
Which I can see the advantages of, for sure.

But what I'm getting at...is...perhaps it isn't a direct indication that Big Brother is about to take to the skies...but more about just in case scenarios...to think that homeland security might be thinking about the homeland isn't as offensive as it might seem...

If Obama wanted to take us all out with his drones...because he is *insert your favorite Obama evil here*....then he's wasted 3 1/2 years and his window of opportunity is potentially about to be closed forever...

And for that matter...didn't all this start back in 2001?
It was George W Bush that we first suspected of this hostile takeover through the provisions of the Patriot Act, right?

Why didn't it happen?
He had 8 years, for pete's sake...the best time to herd us into those FEMA camps would have been sometime in 2002, I would think...it could have all been sewed up 10 years ago if he'd been on the ball.

If that was their plan...then epic fail not once but probably twice.

And so IF that is still their plan...first GWB's...now BHO's...and so most likely it will be Mitt's plan, too...I don't think we have much to worry about.

They are inept bumbling fools if they can't take advantage of their own set-up.
If not fools, then just chronic pathological procrastinators.

The POTUS does not have any more power than he's ever had...whomever was POTUS was no more or less limited or powerful than Obama.
Situations change, is all.

Sounds almost exactly like Bush when he set the precedence for torture, the suspension of habeas corpus, indefinite imprisonment and citizen assassinations.

Fact of the matter is this. Its TOO much power. I also wonder when someone will be brought down, in America, with a drone?

Think of this.... what if it has already begun? In Yemen,

U.S. drone strike has hit a house owned by a senior member of al-Qaida, killing five suspected militants.

A US drone fired two missiles at a house suspected of being a militant hideout in the village of Tapi 15 kilometres east of in Miranshah in North Waziristan Agency of FATA, killing 10 suspected militants.

At least five militants were killed when US drone fired two missiles on a house and a vehicle at Mohammad Khel and Degan village in Dattakhel area of North Waziristan Agency in FATA.

At least 10 persons were killed while one was injured when US drone attacked a house in Darr-e-Nishtar area of North Waziristan Agency in FATA.

These drones appear to be pretty good at zeroing in on a particular house and blowing it up.
What if houses in America just randomly started blowing up? Not a bunch in one day but, here and there...perhaps in the name of national security, the media can say no more than "cause unknown"....
Chief:Cause of house explosion unknown
Cause of home explosion unknown; 1 critically hurt
Cause of Massive House Explosion Unknown

Just something weird I noticed... There are more, I just gave a few links.

The agency projects that 30,000 drones could be in the nation’s skies by 2020.

Of course they are not going to do anything drastic, at least until they are ready.

Patriot Act, NDAA....they slowly grind away your rights, slowly reduce your ability to fight back.

Obama is just continuing the same agenda as Bush did, as will whoever wins the next election.

I feel because they know that things are coming to a breaking point, with the additional QE to infinity, the economic system is running out of gas.......people are going to start losing it (perhaps all this recent violence is just a beginning). You also have to connect the dot that the government is portraying patriots as domestic terrorists, hell, if you support financially responsible government you are being labeled a terrorist.

Good to see you. I took the summer off from ATS, while the juvenile trolls flooded the threads. The first thing I did when I came back, was look up threads from my good friends, which you certainly are, knowing that I would get on a serious and intelligent thread.
Oh, yes, and I know you can't change the heading, just wanted to make a point....I think you know that also. Good to be back with serious posters.

The Middle East is Growing Up. It is happening because of the U.S. Military Developed INTERNET. People can use their Smart Phones and get around their Governments Internet Filters and talk to each other and others around the world. There is an Enormous Number of IRANIAN AMERICANS. Iran's population that has 70% of it's total under the age of 30 years old...are talking to Iranian Americans and finding out what the U.S. is really about.

One at a time...Middle Eastern Countries are turning Democratic and eventually the Kingdoms will fall. Some people have said...Saudi Arabia which is a U.S. Ally will no longer have a KING forcing a U.S./Saudi Alliance but countries that become Democratic Republics tend do work with other Democratic Nations. 94% of all Iranians want Good Relations with the United States. WHY? Because they have relatives in the U.S. Relatives who are telling them that they do not have to have Religious Limits in the Private Lives and they can still practice their Religion without conflict with their Government or their Rights. So what rights have we lost since the initial panic over the terrorists and the Homeland Security act?

But that's just details...the thing is...if what you say is true and this plot has been in the works for almost 12 years already...and will still be going on during the next four years...if and when it happens, who can we blame but ourselves? I mean, it won't be like they snuck up on us, at this rate...and really, how smart could they be if they are taking so long to do something that could be done in probably no longer than the space of one year?

The longer they wait...the wiser we get to their plans...the longer we have to make plans of our own.

Does it really make sense?
I mean, I am not dismissing the idea out of hand...I've thought on it long and hard for years...I've been posting at ATS for over 7 years so this stuff is not new to me at all...and try as I might...I can see no true evidence that such a scheme is in the works. I know we are lied to and sometimes they might have a good reason but not always...and I don't agree with everything or even half of what the government decides and does 'on our behalf.'

But I just don't see this...and I see it less and less. Not because I don't want to...I've seen other things I wish I still was ignorant of...just not this.

Plus in any crime...there must be a motive. What's the motive?

This is another important thread that should have many more posts. I guess it isn't crazy enough for some. I wonder what a thread titled "Elvis sighted, meeting with reptilian politicians, who are having affairs with the Royal family, while plotting how to take over the universe before December 21st, 2012, when it won't matter anyway" would do? ATS would probably run out of band width.
