Looks like the US Ambassador to Libya got exactly what he deserves.

Sometimes I just sit in absolute awe and bewilderment at all the "shock and outrage" of my fellow American citizens.

The story below is trending on Yahoo right now with the tagline "Slain ambassador a 'hero' during revolution:
Chris Stevens once slipped into Libya on a cargo ship to help rebels overthrow Gadhafi."
.

So...basically our "diplomat" was more or less a CIA operative who illegally infiltrated a sovereign government specifically with the intent of assisting a militant overthrow of Libyan government...and we are now somehow all bent out of shape that somebody stamped his ticket for him?

Christ almighty...what did we really expect was going to happen? What we do in this country if the Chinese Ambassador started a civil war in order to make us their puppet state?

Seriously? Did you really just say that?

Opinions are opinions and I understand that. But with that opinion I'm thinking maybe we should send an angry mob to your house to burn it down and fire rockets at you and your family. Is that okay with you?

Did he help overthrow a foreign government though?

His opinion isn't the same as him actually acting out on it on the behalf of our governments.

huh...?

America is one of the worlds youngest countries, with the most extensive military history EVER, killing innocent people in their sleep from thousands of miles away using unmanned lethal means - yet americans should only die of natural causes because karma isn't a bitch but a nice woman down the block.... right?

I don't advocate murder (of ANYBODY, not just americans), I just don't understand why you haven't burned down D.C if you wanna burn something down..... If it weren't for D.C, this guy wouldn't even be dead...

I have absolutely no respect for anyone that condones the actions of yesterday on innocent people. If he had previously been a part of a military operation he was following his countries orders which may or may not have been for the best. We aren't debating that. We're talking about how anybody could have the balls to say something like that when on the anniversary of one of the biggest disasters our country has ever faced, an angry mob burned part of our embassy, tore our flag and raised their own, and killed four people senselessly.

How can anyone in this country defend this angry mob? People like that should seriously leave the country, and I know that might sound childish. But I appreciate what freedom we have left here and even when I strongly disagree with what our country is doing sometimes, I still get tears in my eyes at times when I hear the national anthem and I still respect what my loved ones and friends and friends in the military have done and given for this country no matter what party was ruling at the time.

You mean like the angry mob that destroyed Afghanistan "looking for Osama"? That angry mob...?

or the one who damn near turned Iraq back into desert........?

ORR, the one who decided that Ghadaffi was incapable of playing by their rules, so they had him killed...?

Four people died senselessly.. This is true... But how many have we killed with the drones..?
And how many were killed when we bombarded Libya? Or did we have a tactic of only shooting at empty buildings..?

Nooo I recall the US being a part of killing some babies in Libya....

I feel sorry for the deceased ambassador and the three others who died, but there is, unfortunately, some truth to what the OP says.

I do, however, have some questions about him being blown up. I have a photo of the deceased Ambassador, which I choose not to post here because it is upsetting, and he doesn't look blown up. He has one little spot on his head that appears to me to be a bullet hole. The rest of him doesn't have damage that would occur to one that had a bomb dropped on him. Of course, I've never been in a war zone, but I've seen enough pictures to know the difference between being blown up and executed.

Are we being told the truth about this? Was it really a rocket, or did the people actually storm the place and drag these guys out and execute them?

Dude. Where the F are your facts behind the baby killing? Where are your solid numbers? And do you have any friends in the military?

Because I have lost a few that COULD NOT return fire when they were being assaulted for hours. Do you know that if we actually ever became an "angry mob" we have enough military might to destroy Libya completely. You're blaming the US for killing people when the Libyan people were killing each other? How dare we step in! How dare we try to help put an end to that! What a cruel country we are.

Seriously grow the # up.

You dont know how he died.

Look at the picks. Looks like he was lynched to me. And the story does not add up.

And just because the people of Libya do not support murder and terrorism does not mean they consider the CIA to be their friend.

Most people are against the so called 'war on terror'. Most people are sick of the CIA and their obvious bs. Dont act like its odd to be against the wars. Its popular opinion.

Most people also think that the US should leave us all alone and fix your own country. It is terrible to occupy a nation based on bs. It is terrible to fool young people into risking their lives for US Bankers.

Libya was an awesome country. Now look at it. Look at Iraq. Syria will be the same. And you are still defending the CIA/USA?

I have war lust? What a joke.

Your Government is CIA genius. You think they overthrow the governments of other nations but just let their own do what it wants? yeah right. And for the guy to have a top position in Libya of all places, yes, he worked with the CIA.

wow alot of emotion going on here. I think once again that people need to read more history, the perspective from the past shows that many people get killed by other people and have been getting killed by one governement or another for damn near as long as groups of people formed any kind of alliance. Holding any government to some kind of standard is pretty useless. Ranting about it and saying someone deserved what he got is extremely poor manners and there is instant karma. Wishing or being glad someone died can have the same effect on the person who is making these kind of staements. Like attracts like. Words are powerful things, use them carefully lest they come true for you also.t Just sayin.....

I find the title of this thread and the meaning within it....very disturbing; and I don't agree at all. I live in the NW and his sister is a Doctor here; she is in mourning; and she knows her brother did not deserve to die.

I am really appalled by the attitude of the OP. I would really like to know...where the caring and compassion are.

Agreed, the poor fool did not realize that he was in a country that is now hostile towards the US, and everyone acts surprised that someone was killed.
The same would happen in the US if we had rockets raining down on our cities or the people woke up.

No....that's not OK at all.

That's precisely why I don't infiltrate any of Earth's other governments with the intent to overthrow their leaders and start a civil war.

However...if I was in that line of work....I suppose I would have to be a bit of idiot not to expect future retaliation...right?
