Awesome. I would look at ATS more on my Tablet and phone but the fonts and layouts sometimes get too small to make the experience enjoyable. If you can make a thread readily readable on a smart phone screen, it would immensely add to the overall experience of the site. All I have to see is the thread easily, I don't need every bell and whistle on mobile.

I've noticed I have tended to start to distance myself from sites that don't provide a good mobile experience, even on a PC I notice I visit such sites less often nowadays.

Just food for thought.

Looks good. Went to the link with my Droid X2 phone and Nexus 7 pad [both Android] .
Everything looks great. Compact, straight forward, easy to read, less clutter. Good job.

Great job keeping ATS looking fresh and making the site even more user-friendly.

The one suggestion I have that would make ATS even more awesome and accessible/interactive with members would be to allow for ATS forums to be available to folks using: iPhone, iPad, Android and Blackberry via the Tapatalk forum application (which is the most used forum app on both iPhone/iPad and Android).

I'm not sure what forum system ATS uses but should note that Tapatalk supports the following forum systems: vBulletin
MyBB
IPBoard
Kunena
SMF
phpBB
XenForo
bbPress

Any chance that ATS might consider Tapatalk or another forum app to allow mobile users to have an even better user experience?

Those few little changes made quite a difference.

Cool.

Much more responsive on my smartphone. I recently upgraded to Ice Cream Sandwich, (new ROM, rooted), and the double tap and pinch zoom in is faster.

The home laptop functions as should.

I see your attempt at being cross-platform amazing. Kudos.

If I encounter "glitches", I'll be sure to report, otherwise......

Uhuh. You got it. I'll have to dig a bit more before I can complain.

We're running on a custom-coded solution unique to us. And, since I'm a firm believer in web technologies and open standards, we're deploying an HTML5/CSS3 responsive solution that will be optimized for the full ATS experience on (hopefully) all devices with modern browsers... even Kindle!

Forgot to add, Linux Mint 8 on the cumbersome laptop, an old 750 mhz Thinkpad, with half a gig of ram. It works, smooth. Opera as the browser, then Firefox.

The smartphone is an AOSP ROM, Strike, ICS 4.0.4, 1 ghz EVO 4g, with half a gig of ram. Opera Mini, Dolphin, then stock browser.

Checked the 2.2 ghz dual core, 4gb ram. IE, and Firefox look good.

That's seven browsers total, on different platforms.

Tested all, no rendering problems. Amazing!

Probably using the Acid Test, good on them. (I once wrote a browser and getting it to conform to that was a major pain in the can, though, when it was done, I was glad that any remaining issue was due to poor web programming, not due to my fault.)

What people aren't seeing is that you are stretching out to meet the new demand, beforehand. You're cross-checking results as you release, and before you publish.

ATS is making sure they are compatible and visible on as many different types of products as they can. How many other websites do that yet?

Coupled with the new Helium Engine, the people of ATS are in for an upcoming surprise. Mark my words, the unpartial.com launch was only convenient because of the election cycle. SO was testing code the whole while.

Good stuff coming up.

I never use the front page so whatever you do there is perfectly a ok by me. But I rather like when I go to the forums button it has the list of forums and all that, if that goes I probably will I like it that what it is organized and well ordered. Also please for the love of God let me turn off the most flagged threads in last 5 days when sorted by last reply, I really hate that and it bothers me to no end.

I would say go with what you have...so far.

Sure, gltches may show up, but with the ever changing OS's out there there are bound to be some after all.

Even if you ran a 100% fool proof site that operated on all OS's upon release, within a couple of months there would be a glitch because a new OS would be released.

It's a bitch trying to keep up, ain't it?

Edit to Add - IGNORE Please - my reply was in response to newness I see when reading threads NOW; not on the future design which displays like random rubbish on my screen. Excuse my lact of tact there.

All I know is ATS code is replying to my desktop PC - 19" widescreen as if it was a Tablet PC because I run 1024X768.

I like that it's easier to read! The writing is so small on the Internet overall that I have to squint to read it.

BUT - all your ads are dropped to BELOW the page's posts and are easily not seen at all.

So, good for us; but, maybe bad for your ads.

It is definitely easier on the eyes and has a better flow, but I think there needs to be something to differentiate the threads on the home page. It almost all flows together like I'm looking at a newspaper page and theres tons of articles everywhere but it needs something to separate it. Maybe some type of color coding.

I think its too dreary it looks like a drab. Theres to little life not enough color. ATS is full of life and color and such a diverse community I think just should have a tad more color to the page, even if its light dry colors just some colors.

Overall I think that new design looks great it has a more modern look and it definitely flows a lot easier. I just think a little life should be added to the page. Because right now all the ads on the sample new homepage stand out more than anything.

OMG I just realized that "DENY IGNORANCE" Is nowhere to be found on the homepage. We definitely need that there.

I have had a difficult time as I am using telescope for sky searching and I am finding things that are just way out there. Like 26 visible images of sollid mass heading towards us, all the same I have no thread to post it in because I canot start one under 60 days as I understand.

However I have not passed the 2 month wach time frame that you newcomer's are under.

My suggestion is to have a NEW MEMBER’S posting site which would
1: would give people who are new a chance to post without over running someone else’s post (you could even limit it to 3 a month so you are assured that tey are moving throgh the rest of the site and learning what the trend and decorum is.)
2; It would give the people who are new the access to see who is on the ball or not when it comes to the websites rules and terms of agreement.

So please make a list of NEW MEMBER’S post with subcategories equal to what you have for the rest of the site or, what seems to be popular, at first then add more intelligent scoring.

Paul

Thank you for you considerations

I like it very much. I had a suggestion though about the over all look of the front page.

Though it seems cluttered, ATS is not an "ordinary" site, I think that front page new feed (most liked threads), should look like the front page of a newspaper, not the way newspaper sites have it, just like an ordinary newspaper in print that you can buy in the morning.

The name of the paper could be the forum, and maybe a bit of color as well.... just a suggestion though

Peace, NRE.
