So, going by your belief that the two are connected (smell of Sulfur and EQ) why have the people of Calif been smelling this for weeks now, and still no big one?

I'm not refuting your suggestion, because I do believe that one day we will develop a complex system through which we can more accurately predict when and where an EQ will occur, and possibly the magnitude too. But if this is experienced days before a massive EQ in previous instances, where is the EQ from the massively overpowering smell of Sulfur experienced weeks ago?

Or maybe it's the Salton Sea and fish die-offs that they stated in the article?

It's not bad to be prepared for an earthquake, but why do you think it's an earthquake over the Salton Sea?

Primarily because the supporting evidence suggests that this is a weak excuse. The Salton Sea has been experiencing a die off for decades, this is not new. There have also been swarms of EQ events in the region, and the mud pots have been increasing in the area too.

All of these suggest that there is a geological event taking place. To ignore all the other aspects of what is going on and simply accept the line that it's a smell from the Salton Sea dying off would be more than foolish. It would be like watching a cow fly past, a tornado ripping up the next town, and someone telling you the wind you just felt was them farting.
