So cats will go through tremendous efforts to keep a dying infant alive but will eat their owners if they die in their homes?

strange creatures, still love my kitty

I think you're throwing the cat-fed dirty-faced baby out with the bathwater on this.

Our species has become sad? Do you think this is the first time a child has been left to die and that it's some indication of our current state?

I think your comment is full of "ra-ra" without any real support.

What does it mean?

BTW - I think this story is made up.

The boy was discovered by police in Misiones, in Argentina, surrounded by eight wild cats who it is believed snuggled up to him during the cold nights to keep him alive and fed him scraps of food.

Policewoman Alicia Lorena Lindgvist discovered the child by a canal in the Christ King district of the city.

She said: "I was walking and noticed a gang of cats sitting very close together. It is unusual to see so many like that so I went for a closer look and that's where I saw him. The boy was lying at the bottom of a gutter. There were all these cats on top of him licking him because he was really dirty.

The officer, who noticed scraps of food near the boy, added: "The cats knew he was fragile and needed protecting."

"When I walked over they became really protective and spat at me. They were keeping the boy warm while he slept."

Doctors believe the animals snuggled up with him during freezing nights which would otherwise have killed him.

The Telegraph

Police state they have found the boy's father who is homeless and who said he had lost the boy several days ago. He told officers cats had always been protective of his son.

And humans belive only angels come in humanoid form. God has many servants and most do not even know that they are servants.

This does not surprise me at all. This is what happens when people are forced to live homeless. It's a sad reality In this so called modern society. Funny how humans calling other humans inhuman though. "chuckles" Is this really how far we have come as the most advanced intelligent species on earth? The whole thing sickens me and I honestly feel we were meant to be so much more.

This story warms my heart. To hear that another species can care for another is awe inspiring.

I as well have been owned by my cats and at the time was living in my car. I had two at the time and both would curl up next to me to keep warm and to keep me warm at night.

You never know what a person or an animal is capable of until they are put into that position. We need to keep our minds open to the possibility that we can do so much more.

I hope this child and their father can receive the help that they need and have a better life now.

The claim that he lost his baby kinda blows my mind as to how one loses a one year old baby ..... sounds more like the loser just left him there...... These cats have shown more human than human .... As is many cases all threw time and history all kinds of animals have shown great empathy to human beings in great need...

Maybe we need to be more animal to each other because being human often fails

You may be onto something, reminds me of a quote from the movie Aliens "You don't see them screwing each other over for a profit margin."

I think sometimes cats get not enough credit for being of loyalty to people. Cats always like me. Whenever we go to visit the dacha of my parents-in-laws they have 2 cats there, and these cats always will follow me about the place, follow me along the street a way and wait to my return. They do this with nobody else, not even their owners. I never feed them myself or give anything more than a scratching behind the ears every now and then. Everybody else I know who has a cat, their cat will always be very affectionate to me.

Cats are weird. Seems they take likings to random people sometimes. Also were these lady-cats? If so they might have been having the maternal instinct, like when you can switch a bird or dog or something into the kitten litter and the mama-cat will nurse it.

Either way I hope this kid is not abandoned again and finds a safe life.

What's really strange is this story is from 2008. I remembered it and went back to look. I wonder what ever happened to the boy and why this is coming back to life

Honestly, how about a little compassion? This is supposedly a single father (miracle in itself!!) homeless and trying to care for his one year old, right? The man has to sleep sometime. He obviously doesn't have a crib or a playpen or any of the items we take for granted. He must have been looking for this child if the authorities found him.

Walk a mile in his bare feet before you judge, and I thank God that the cats saw and filled a need that most humans looked over.
