If he has a question? How can he have any questions if he doesn't read the briefings? Geez some people just don't get that he doesn't care about what other people know, he just wants the agenda spoon fed him by his commie handlers. I swear even a video of him on the campaign trails shows him turning around and asking some guy behind him what to say.

Ok lets try and explain this again for people who have never been in the buisness. The top people in the gov get a morning read book. Obama would get this first thing in the morning, well he would get several for several things including national security. He would then read it. Also every morning other meerings for all kinds of things occure to go over the same sorts of things that are covered in the book and other day to day buisness. These would be attended mostly by staff from those areas. The President will sit in several of them several times a week but, not all them everyday. Now when something is happening he will have a seperate meeting or be briefed by the the senior staff of whatever department is having an event. And yes while he is a very smart guy he does ask questions and asks them often according to former associates who brief him on occasion. Of course when I know I am just wasting my time as anybody who would use the term "commie handlers" clearly has no interest in reality.

I see what you are saying. This information looks bad the way it is written. Yes, there is a "but". First off, allow me to state that I am not a supporter of Obama. I am neither a detractor. Essentially, I am indifferent to the man. Regarding his presidency....there are actions he has taken that I don't agree with. In general, I would consider him a president that is mediocre. Even so, I am going to play devils advocate.

My first point would be this: Does it really matter if he physically attends the meetings? I don't think it does. With our current technology Mr. Obama could be in Timbuktu and digitally attend the daily meetings through video conference or VOIP software. I am fairly certain that the president of the USA digital communications are secure. Furthermore, I consider the attendance aspect to be trivial. What is important is this: That the president understands the information being relayed to him. In this respect I think Mr. Obama has a reasonably fair grasp of the state of the world. I only have two faults with him in regards to action taken beyond our borders. I don't approve of how he allows the Mexican border to be essentially undefended and open. Also, I did not think it was the USA responsibility to intervene in Libya.

To conclude, I think the article is taking liberties with its claims.

Considering Obama himself has said out loud to people that he runs ALL decisions through VALERIE JARRETT, your comment is bs.

now....thanks for the lesson on how things are done normally at the WH. I admit I posted before I read the article. However, I have not been impressed with Obama's ability to care about the true welfare of this country. That being said...

lets let's
buisness business
meerings meetings
occure occur
seperate separate

Did you forget to take off those dark glasses while typing your post? I hate to be fussy about spelling, but since you are unaware that Valerie Jarrett and David Axelrod both have communist families, I find your tone with me to be unnecessarily snarky.

Although I am likely wasting my time trying to defend my statement to you as you seem highly likely to dismiss it summarily, this will go on record for any bystanders who are more open to the truth about this POTUS and those around him.

A new book by Richard Miniter contends that it was Valerie Jarrett, Obama's top adviser, who repeatedly urged President Obama not to take out Osama bin Laden, prompting Obama to cancel the mission three times.

One of the first examples I found of Frank Marshall Davis getting noticed by Congress was a 1944 Congressional report listing his involvement in the American Peace Mobilization. That same report also cited the involvement of a fellow Chicagoan named Robert Taylor. Taylor was the grandfather of Valerie Jarrett.
Both Taylor and Davis would have frequently encountered another politically active Chicagoan, Vernon Jarrett. Vernon Jarrett and Frank Marshall Davis worked together on the small publicity team of the communist-controlled Packinghouse Workers Union, which Frank Marshall Davis publicly called for nationalizing. Vernon Jarrett would one day become Valerie Jarrett's father-in-law.
So, here we have Obama's mentor, Frank Marshall Davis, working with the literal relatives of Valerie Jarrett -- all serving together in Chicago's Communist Party circles in the 1940s.

spectator.org...

As we know, Frank Marshall Davis was a card-carrying communist with even a number, as the author of this article Kengor has it printed on his book.
This is before we even go into Axelrod.

It is too bad that apathy has reigned in this matter of communists infiltrating the actual WH and setting us up for complete overhaul of our government and our way of life. Apathy from people who keep insisting that when we call a commie a commie, they keep saying oh don't be a silly goose.

Perhaps we should find out if Valerie Jarrett is attending these meetings in his stead, as he runs all decisions through her by his own admission and she is his senior advisor. I have just explained her communist connections with Barack and so that should really be a wake up call to everybody.

maybe he doesn't want to spend 45 mins every morning with a bunch of guys explaining something to him that he can read by himself.

maybe he can think for himself.

unlike bush, who probably didn't even read one paragraph of any briefing and just accepted anything dick cheney's lap dogs told him.

it's possible obama takes the briefing with him and looks over it during breakfast, unless it is vital and important that it is gone over thoroughly and requires immediate attention.

I highly doubt that.

Obama gave a speech in April 2011 on the federal budget and debt, and used the occasion to criticize Ryan for his proposed budget.
“And so I did feel, in retrospect, had I known — we literally didn’t know he was going to be there until — or I didn’t know, until I arrived,” Obama told Woodward. “I might have modified some of it so that we would leave more negotiations open, because I do think that they felt like we were trying to embarrass him.

There’s just one thing… Obama personally invited Paul Ryan to the speech

Obama Says He Didn’t Know Ryan Was Going to Be at His Nasty 2011 Budget Speech… Even Though He RSVP’d & White House Sat Him in Front Row

Obama Didn't Know How Deep the Economic Crisis Was

Yeah, uninformed more like it.

This 'executive' is the President of the United States and the Commander In Chief of the Armed Forces. He sure in all hell had better understand EVERYTHING that is happening with National Security. It's his JOB. He took an oath to defend this country against all enemies both foreign and domestic. That takes KNOWLEDGE which comes from attending security meetings and briefings. Without knowledge .. he can't coordinate or execute .. or even know what the hell he's talking about or doing.

How and Earth do you know his reading habits or his work ethic?

Do you think it is easy to get in to Harvard, miss?

Truth is, you have no bloody clue what Obama does or what he knows...

You are too blinded by Obama Derangement syndrome, which is why everything

The republicans must have just woken up to the fact that their candidate is a giant douche and will not win on his own merits, so they need to make Obama look way worse that Romney. That is their only hope. Prepare for tons and tons of similar articles to hit the news in the next days.

You also have to realize that now Israel is against Obama so there goes the media.

Before you get in a huff, let me point out that in my opinion, both the republicans and democrats have made terrible leaders for the US people.

btw being a leader means being able to delegate. Just because he is not at every meeting does not mean our country is flailing in the wind. If you think this, you've got issues, that won't be worked out here on ATS. Just for balance how many of these meetings was Bush at during his first 8 months in office and look what happened. So does being at these meetings really make a difference?

oh and one more thing, when some one uses a word like "atleast" that means they don't know how many. So until they get the facts maybe they should hold off on reporting.

Of course national security isn't important to the presidents, Obama even stated that he wouldn't secure the borders because he didn't like what individual states were doing. Talk about a dereliction of duty. But we have to consider as well how all the US aggressive military actions have endangered our national security - that we might be a target is a direct result of the imperialist activities abroad.

That is pretty up if you ask me

Attending 1/3 of the National Security meetings is not 'attending a lot of meetings'.
It's called MISSING a lot of meetings. That's not 'up' at all.

The FACT is that he attending 1/3 of the National Security meetings.
That's not a 'hit piece'. That's just stating a fact.
And the other facts are that he goes golfing a hell of a lot and even
has days when there is absolutely NOTHING on his schedule. NOTHING.

Facts can't be a 'hit piece'. They are just facts.

Executives are not there to master policy, they are there to
Coordinate an execute the policy.

If a CEO of a company is not at all sales meetings, does
That mean he is inept or not concerned about sales???

Therein is the answer

The ceo or "chief executive" formulates policy. His policy is well formed all ready; reduce the imperialist nations to the level of their former 3rd world colonies. By transferring their wealth.Sinking their economies and slashing their military superiority to parity or better yet:"nil".

IMHO this is evidence of: " I know full well whats happening in the world; who our friends and enemies are. Just fine thank you. Infact the Muslim Brotherhood briefed me the last time thery were here for "talks"; the caliphate is "on schedule"..

Soooooo ... I'm wondering if any of those security briefings, that Obama couldn't be bothered with, would have included intel on potential terrorist attacks against our people in Egypt and Libya?

Attending 500+ meetings in 3 years is an abysmal record. And quite frankly, it doesn't matter what the other people's records are...I'm not being asked to keep THEM in office. He wants another four years...because he needs more time....more time for golf? For Michelle to visit MORE countries on expensive vacations??

Look he WANTED this job...the job is Commander-in-Chief...part of the job is defending this country. If he doesn't want to attend these vital, critical meetings, I know another guy who WOULD.

That guy is getting MY vote. Mr. & Mrs. Obama can retire to Martha's Vineyard, play golf, splash in the water and wear expensive coats. Just not on MY taxpayer's dime...

To all of the morons trying to defend this worthless excuse for a president and national leader.....

Maybe if he had attended more PDB meetings he could have prevented the senseless killing of four US Embassy workers including a US ambassador yesterday. Turn on the news, they are already saying the YouTube video was just a cover up for an attack that was planned to happen on September 11th. Then again you'd think the first reaction from the embassy/white house after all of this would be seeking justice, not an apology for hurting anyone's feelings. What about the feelings of the families that lost loved ones? US CITIZENS????

Yes of course at 10 AM today after he had been ripped a new asshole he released a statement saying he will "seek justice". Yes Mr. Obama I'm sure you will. And in quick fashion I'm sure as well. I've been someone who has given him the benefit of the doubt multiple times, but the more I learn the more I am positive that this JOKE is not my president.

And maybe you should read some hard facts about what he has and hasn't done and who he has aligned himself with worldwide before you go spouting your stupid and pointless opinion. Don't point the finger at someone else when you are defending someone who can't be defended.

and this is just getting starting according to some.

This is having a ripple effect in all the Middle East Embassies.

I find it real hard to believe that Obama doesn't get the intel he needs. So I read the article and found some interesting stuff.

He says that the president reads his PDB every day, and he disagreed with the suggestion that there is any difference whatsoever between simply reading the briefing book and having an interactive discussion of its contents with top national security and intelligence officials where the president can probe assumptions and ask questions. “I actually don’t agree at all,” Vietor told me in an e-mail, “The president gets the information he needs from the intelligence community each day.”

I think it's safe to say that the Washington Post probably doesn't have any real information on how Obama runs his ship and it is apparent from the assumptions they had to make in this article.

This is a hit piece.
edit on 11-9-2012 by sheepslayer247 because: (no reason given)

That's like saying there's no difference between attending a class with instructors that can answer all your questions and reading the book. I'm sorry but an interactive setting will always be better, every time. Saying there is no difference is a stupid way of trying to lessen how bad this looks.
