Well this is not good at all, I keep scanning the news and hoping that this is all going to blow over.
Last week I read that Japan had bought the Islands and had a bad feeling about it, now they have stirred up
China to send Patrol boats to the disputed Islands.

China has accused Japan of "Playing with Fire".

These two nations have a long history of acrimony especially after WWII.

If this kicks off it will bring in loads of different treaties and the # will hit the fan.

The US will come in with Japan and there will be the ever present danger of Taiwan being a target
for Chinese Invasion.

TOKYO, Sept 11 (Reuters) - Japan brushed off stern warnings by China and bought a group of islands on Tuesday that both claim, in a growing dispute that threatens to deepen strains between Asia's two biggest economies. Chinese official media said Beijing had sent two patrol ships to waters surrounding the islands to reassert its claim and accused Japan of "playing with fire" over the long-simmering row. The army warned that further, unspecified steps could follow.

That's a good question.. I was thinking that myself.
I don't know the answer to that unfortunately.

They bought the islands from the Japanese family that's owned the islands since the 1890s.

The world has moved on since WW2, except China who keeps the subject of WW2 alive for political reasons because they like to remind the Chinese of the various atrocities the Japanese perpetrated, although the Chinese Authorities are keen to wipe from their history the many atrocities committed by the ruling Communist Party and that nutjob Chairman Mao, but that’s another thread.

China has many territorial disputes. In fact, China seems to think it owns significant chunks of land and sea in every direction. We just need to look at Tibet to understand the lengths the Chinese will go to further their territorial aims. It is no wonder many nations in the East welcome the US change of focus and why China is miffed because of it.

Regards
