Hmm, Why not go back to the olden days and sue the romans as well?

Clutching at straws maybe?

www.news.com.au...

GREECE has set up a "working group" to scour historical archives and tally how much Germany might owe in outstanding reparations for Nazi war crimes during World War II, the finance ministry has announced.
Greece has said in recent years that it reserves the right to claim reparations worth an estimated $US7.5 million ($7.2 million), saying it was forced to accept unfavourable terms during negotiations in the 1950s.

Sorry Greece, but for 50' something years you accepted the terms.

Its too late!

Germany is the biggest single donor to Greece's bailout packages.

Extortion? That's what it looks like on the surface.

Interesting find.

Let's hope it's a joke, however bad.
I can't believe any modern nation would stoop so ridiculously low.

By the way, two and a half years ago they said they would NOT seek "reparations".

Did Greece pawn all their history books too?

Last time countries demanded reparations from Germany it was paid in panzers and concentration camps.

I really don't understand what you mean by that.

The weight of the reparations for WW I broke Germany's economic backbone - because they were paying them (until Hitler's ascent to power) - and led directly to WW II.

The reparations for WW II were paid in money, labour and countless (very valuable) patents, copyrights etc. that were confiscated (mostly by the USA) in lieu of monetary payment.

No, I did not. I was not sure that is what you meant - firstly, because I thought it was too ridiculous to be meant in earnest (I am not calling you ridiculous; the comment was), and secondly, because I always give people the benefit of doubt.
(The doubt being precisely that the person may have intended to say something else. It happens, especially on this website.)

As for the things I've learned...

I would have thought this was common knowledge; but perhaps it isn't.
And if so, there exists the DUTY to tell things as they are.
