I hear this said by Republicans all the time that Obama is the most divisive president ever. This is coming from the party that said their number one priority is to deny Obama a second term. This is from the party that spread hateful rumors that Obama is a secret illegal muslim president who pals around with terrorists and is an evil socialist dictator. Isnt it the over the top rhetoric that is divisive??

I'm just wondering if Republicans see the truth in this? Do most normal Republican voters see that while Obama tried to work with Republicans, that Republicans took a position of no cooperation? Do they see that its people like Rush and those at FOX News that helped promote this idea that Obama is the most divisive president ever?

It seems the most accurate truth is.. the Republican party has never spent more energy creating a division between parties as they have with Obama.

I'm curious if Republican voters see the truth in this or if they really believe Obama created the division on his own?

Perhaps a closer study of history is required.

I believe the title would fall to Abraham Lincoln, 80% of the pop voted in that election, and him winning pretty much insured the nation went to war with it self.

Part of the problem is the extremes in the media coming out with such hyperbole and vitriol when ever talking about current politics .

The OP is dead on. The title of the thread is only true for those living in opposite world. The claim is 100% Orwellian spin by the Right. The facts point to the EXACT opposite.

Near 100% filibuster rate, more than the combined total across the entire history of the U.S.A.

A publicly-stated goal that the most important "issue" was to make him a one term president.

A revealed secret meeting held the day he was inaugurated to oppose him 100%, no matter the issue, no matter if a Republican first proposed the idea for a bill, no matter the cost to our nation's reputation, credit rating and standing in the world.

All this by a party that is 91% white and driven by religious zeal vs. the President's party, which overwhelming is representative of all groups in our society, EXCEPT the religious Right.

So who's more divisive? Please.

mmm... I'm going to have to go with lincoln or eisenhower maybe.

I watched the "giant douche vs turd sandwich" episode of southpark and the message really hits home with the election this year. Each candidate is terrible, but when you can only pick from 2 then one is good and the other is the worst ever.

Most divisive President ever? Probably not.
Is the system the most screwed up its ever been? Probably.

Sorry to have to be the one to inform you of this little factoid but, much the same way that Stephen Colbert claims that he can't differentiate between black or white, republicans have lost their ability to differentiate between fact and fiction. F&S for the OP just the same. Who knows, maybe it will sink in with one or two of em.

I think they call him divisive because hes an advocate for most disadvantaged groups in this country. He also *presents himself* as if hes for the middle class. The republicans like to pretend no groups are disadvantaged except white christians so helping anyone outside of that group is divisive. They also paint the rich as the country's saviors who need more tax breaks Obama points out the disparity in their taxes vs the middle class therefore he is divisive. Its all garbage.

Isn't the two party system divisive in it's own opposite ends of the spectrum in their platforms?? Do you think that is by accident? It was set up that way to divide the people so that these corrupt politicians can rob us blind while we fight each other over their "divisive" tactics!!

Meanwhile, our Republic falls...................................

Here's a bit of Grand Oligarchy Party bi-partisanship.

I think that's a really good point. The mere historical inaccuracy of the repeated statement, "Obama is the most divisive president ever", is evidence that this is more Republican propaganda than an actual statement of truth.

The two party system is definitely a system of control, but I don't think it was designed to implode on itself by creating such hateful division. i think we're supposed to be seeing examples of two different sides working together, united as one.

Only 2 Presidents in US history have ever publicly said "Half the Country is my ENEMY".

Only 2 Presidents received authorization to kill Americans, detain Americans without a trial.

The last guy brought in Russians (Russia's Atlantic and Pacific Naval Fleets into Union Ports)....which countries are Obama getting to help him kill Americans?
