Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon has decided not to restrict access to the Al Aqsa mosque during Ramadan. The decision was made after engineers had
made repairs to the ceiling over Solomon"s Stable, an area of the mosque compound that was feared may collapse. The Al Aqsa mosque was built on the

"fears of a collapse." Earlier, Israeli police chiefs said they saw no reason to limit the number of Muslim worshippers to prayers on Friday, which
will mark the first day of the holy month of Ramadan.
On Wednesday, an Israeli paper reported Sharon had ordered to reduce the number of Muslim worshippers in the Aqsa Mosque from the usual 250,000 to
only 50,000.
Ma’ariv said that Sharon issued his orders after Israeli “experts” said that the Marwani Mosque, which is underneath the holy Aqsa Mosque, could
collapse due to the big numbers of worshippers.

Engineers have long been inspecting the Temple mount for signs of weakening in the structure. Some are of the belief that the Mosque may collapse on
itself, destroying both the mosque and the remnants of the Temple.
One has to wonder if Mr. Sharon is hoping that the Al Aqsa will collapse, and give him the opportunity to rebuild the Temple on that site. Certainly
if there is a collapse at the site, Jews and Muslims alike will be outraged.
