Topic started on 14-10-2004 @ 12:04 PM by sanctum

Debris of one fighter jet has been found on a side of Mount Pilio, while authorities are unsure of the location of the second jet and its crew. The two planes took off from Larissa Military Airport on a training exercise. Military helicopters are searching areas for the crews of both jets as it is unclear whether they ejected safely after dropping off radar.

Authorities have received no sign of life from the two planes" crews, and it was still unclear whether they ejected to safety.

Three military helicopters were combing the area for survivors.

The two-seater planes departed for a training flight from the Larissa military airport in central Greece and disappeared from radar screens over Pilio this afternoon.

Sad as this is, i hope terrorism is not involved. It appears that the Greek Air-Force has a
somewhat dubious safety record.

I can't imagine that terrorists could have taken down not one but two F-16s. Maybe they collided mid-air during maneuvers. Either way, it's still awful.
