You are absolutely correct. It is all but a certainty. It will probably happen in October and will be a "wag the dog" moment in President Obama's election campaign.

It is a terrible, terrible thing, in my opinion. I feel bad for the Iranians, although, I disagree with them on numerous issues as well.

I remember a time when Canada would only get invovled as peacekeepers.
I remember a time when US businessmen traveling abroad would take courses on how to act "Canadian" so to avoid trouble, everyone loved Canadians.

I remember when Chritchen told GW to jump in the lake, over the Iraq Lies.

Then the Lapdog Harper came along.......

Now Canada is just another Butt-Hole Bully Country.

Dam I can't remember the story 100 % but wasn't the Iranian government holding an Iranian born Canadian Citizen?
Not sure if that was ever resolved?

Edit to add...
There you go, I read the posted report and found the answer to my question

Iran hasn't had a full ambassador in Canada since 2007, following a breakdown in relations after Iranian-Canadian photographer Zahra Kazemi was tortured and killed in Iran in 2003.

I think everyone here is missing one peculiar thing about this and that is the abrupt timing of this move. Usually, there is some sort of political saber-rattling by both Countries before something like this happens. It was sudden, and the language used by John Baird was concerning as well. He reffered to the Iranian diplomats as "Persona non-grata" which in political speak means "GET [snip OUT OF MY COUNTRY NOW!!"... I found that odd to hear him say that. Does this mean something is on the horizon?? Perhaps a strike by Israel?? I think not. Not during a U.S. election campaign. But hey, Anything is possible. I am thinking that maybe Canada got some intel back implying or even proving that the Iranian embassy here in Canada is up to no good by supporting terrorist activities here in this Country. Even trying to incite unrest in this Country. I am thinking it is something along those lines that has happened-Or maybe the Candian embassy in Iran just got sick and tired of all the prank phone calls they were getting from Iranian version of the JerkyBoyz....

What a shame that we follow our big brother to the south of us without reason now.

Makes me think back to Mr Sharper putting in an order for a fleet of F35's which are proven to be shi.... and we cannot afford right now.

Shut down health care here left and right and buy stealth fighters for what?
You stupid #......'s
Just last week we had to drive over 250 miles to see a specialist for the wife, got looked at and sent home only for another appointment to be made in the future.

Sorry for the rant but I suddenly feel much better here.........

It sounds like an attack on Iran is very close. Think about previous wars and what is the last thing countries do before the war starts; remove their diplomats.

I think more or so any prime minister would do the something. I do think it is a good decision to get them out now. I'm sure other allies will do the same and it does show something is going to happen real soon. I guess it's what Iran gets for talking so much sh*t.. I don't blame them for defending them selves, but when your Bark doesn't have bite, it's best to shut up. All the aggression Iran is doing, is making it look bad on them selves, and Obv. Having stronger ties with North Korea and assisting Syria, really doesn't make you look good..It's either they are stupid and want a war, or just stupid in general.. But it's good to see my country Canada do something for once..War is bad, but War does create jobs, and if war does break lose, it means more work for me and be busy at work..

The election campaign is just another reason to do it. Obama will be wagging the electoral dog. It sure worked for George W. Bush in the case of the Iraq War which was the only thing that kept him in for a second term. It will probably happen in October, or even sooner. Watch what happens with other NATO embassies..

I suppose they can't use the" Yellow Cake" excuse again, I suppose they can't use the "Weapons of Mass Destruction again", I suppose they can't use "911" again, I suppose they can't use the "babies taken out of incubators and thrown to the floor" either......

All of the above have been proven totally false but yet they were effective in the long run.

Keep your Peepers open folks because there will be a new "Fairy Tale" in town probably this week.

I think it is interesting that Canada is the first of the NATO countries to make this announcement.

It is very typical of Canada to do something like this. Canada is to the US as Franco's Spain was to Hitler's Germany, i.e., one of its staunchest suppliers of lip service backed up by half-hearted or no action. The Canadian Department of External Affairs , if it must put the vehicle of Canadian military efforts into action can be expected to forget to lift off the emergency brake.

Nobody among America's allies plays a hand of "Gin Runny" from American foreign policy like Canada. That's why I don't come down too hard on Harper in the situation. He does what he has to do, but in the Canadian way.

Not that we can't fight. WW2 proved that we can. But that was when the stakes were much higher and the cause much more reasonable than pushing Iran around.

I don't think everyone at the UN agrees and although the concept of the UN is ideal, I have less and less faith in them as time goes on. The western nations have more pull than any other represented country. If the UN is supposed to be a true representation of the member states, then all member states should be represented equally.

I couldn't agree more. I too believe that's where the U.N. is failing. There are very few countries in this world on common political ground and the sooner we deal with that reality the better off we'll all be. There are differences that will never be reconciled because of politics and religion and we need to accept that fact. How do we know which ones they are? Look at history. If 2 opposing ideologies have a long history of never getting along, they never will. That, and use common sense.

I can't blame Canada for doing what they did. Now, they need to take it a step further and stop pretending that Iran will play ball with the rest of the world, which they don't have a history of doing, and just leave them alone. Keep an eagle eye on them, by all means, but stay out of their business if they don't physically get in anyone else's. From what I can tell, they're not warmongers. They just talk a lot. If anyone here can show me proof that they have a long history of killing people in other countries, like America for example has done, by all means, set me straight. And I'm talking about the modern world here, not things that happened 400 years ago that have no relevance to the modern era. And if they kill their own people because of ideological differences within their own ranks? So what? What business is it of anyone else's what they do to each other when every time they open their mouths to talk to someone else, it's full of hate?

Iranians, if you don't like your government, rise up and overthrow it in much the same fashion that the Egyptians did not too long ago. Correct me if I'm wrong, but there's more common people then people in charge AND their military combined. The rest of the world? Sit back and watch. Don't get involved. Pretend you're watching an action movie. You're good at that.

It's THEIR problem. Not anyone else's. Besides, if you really think that an uprising will result in the deaths of, say, 80% of the population, you're delusional. They may be in the middle east, but they're not Afghanistan. They are a civilized country and if the western world has a problem with that because their politics and/or religion doesn't coincide with their beliefs. Too bad. They need to get over themselves.

No country on this planet is perfect and if someone else's imperfections bother you, QUIT DEALING WITH THEM. It involves not doing anything. It can't be THAT hard can it?

Why hasn't Israel disclosed anything about their nuclear weapons?

Why hasn't Israel allowed UN Inspectors into their own nuclear facilities?

Why hasn't Israel signed the Non-Proliferation treaty?

Why is Israel the LOUDEST voice against Iran, and yet they aren't even part of the treaty and refuse to cooperate themselves? Why so hypocritical?

And finally, do ANY of you realize that in order to deploy nuclear weapons, you need an entire infrustructure dedicated to creating a delivery method, which Iran simply does not have.

It's quite literally a 'conspiracy theory' by Israel to keep claiming Iran wants to make nuclear weapons, because there's absolutely NO EVIDENCE for it.

And all the claims that Iran wants to 'destroy' Israel? They're all strawmen arguments and claims. Iran hasn't attacked another nation in hundreds of years, ok? And basically, Israel's claim amounts to "b-but but you really believe they don't want to destroy us?".

YES we believe Iran, ok? They haven't attacked anyone. They don't have the infrustructure needed to weaponize a nuclear payload. And if you think 'religious ramblings' coming from Iran's religious portion of leadership are relevent to foriegn policy at all, maybe you should witness some of Israel's religious ramblings before you have a laugh and remember that NEITHER side's religious crazy fundamentalist nutjobs are dictating foriegn policy.

For context, here, have a look at some of Israel's fanatical racist and schizophrenic religious dialogue.

rense.com...

After reading that, ask yourself, who is really the crazy rogue nation here? We actually only know of ONE nation, in the entire world that is as uncooperative, nuclear armed, and fanatically racist as Israel claims, and that nation is Israel itself.

Investigate for yourself, reader. Israel isn't a 'saint nation'. Why are we virtually paying all their military bills and why is AIPAC like a giant octopus in our government? Look at what's really going on here.

And as for Canada? Pfft. Who isn't surprised. It's a spineless action, from a so-called 'peaceful nation'. Canada is as bought-out as it gets.

Nah, chances are the US notified Canada secretly that war is coming soon, so Canada took the wise move and pulled out its people to avoid the coming chaos.

It costs money to close and reopen embassies, so its a big step to take, and must mean something is happening behind the scenes that we're not privy to yet.

I guess we'll hear about it soon. The US likes to invade when its "cool temps" so the soldiers don't have to sweat a lot. That means invasion is certain this winter.

Well, if that is the case, I guess we can expect a lot more dead, the raping of resources of course and a lot of imperialistic colonization in the ME. The tail (Israel) wagging the dog (the US) again, this could be the big one so get your sticks and stones ready for the next war after this one. I guess I will have to go over my checklist again. Hopefully they won't bomb Canada since most of the terrorist's families live here LOL.

Cheers - Dave

I don't think Canada is falling in-line with American foreign policy. I think Canada is trying to protect its representatives from possible attack by foreign invasion. It would cause friction should Israel attempt to go for a bomb run, or the US.

There's only one logical reason I can think why Canada would terminate diplomatic ties abruptly without provocation. A precursor to war.

Don't know if it's connected but the Philippines also closed Embassies......oddly in places that would likely see a retaliatory attack after Iran gets hit.

Maybe the world players are getting ready for it all to start?
