Maybe in a few months, Google will get it right.

Obama has failed. Our economy is stagnate. I think those are the real facts, I and many others see. Will Mitt save us? I dont think so, But Ask ANY unemployed person out there, if Obamas policies has helped them out, in any way.

Let me guess. NBC has been teaching you how to think.

You do not seem to understand how percentages work.
Why does Mitt Romney pay so much less than I do in taxes?
How can he be paying more and paying less at the same time?
Because you think you made a point you did not.
Yes, the rich are getting a free ride off the rest of us.

Most Americans pay - zero - federal taxes.

President Mitt Romney pays about 14% in Federal Taxes.

The last time i checked, zero is smaller than 14.

-------------
It is clearly misleading to say President Mitt Romney is getting a " free ride".

Put down the Obama Cool-Aid.

The fair share thingy isn't working.

Rush Limbaugh says the MSM will now turn on Obama to protect liberalism.

Liberalism is fine. It's Obama that has failed.

I think the very next Job Report October 2012 will remove any doubt.

It's over.

Welcome to the White House President Mitt Romney !

Obama left you a big mess to clean up.

I looked to Michelle, the smile was gone and anger hid beneath the faded smile. Joe Biden's wife also looked the same. The crowd looked disappointing, and as if to haunt and taunt him, an old faded Obama poster that read "hope" dropped from the upper deck as if to mock him openly.

Then I said, " I smell Romney in the air ." I smell a change in the wind, a fresh and new wind. I can feel it coming, a real and substantial change is in the air. It's real, and I love it.

Romney is real and substantial change?

Oh my...we're never gonna get out of this mess if the masses keep buying things like that.

Instead of cheering for either of these men, just wake up and face the reality. Nothing will change and all that OWS or the tea party movements have done is strengthen the iron fist of the security state. Who still dares to protest nowadays? You will instantly end up on some lists if you show up on any of the camera footage.

There\\\'s no liberalism or corporatism. There\\\'s only the one way forward and that\\\'s the way the rich/shadow govt want it to be. Offshoring and globalism will continue, our good jobs will all move to the cheapest slave labor countries and our future is sealed.

You can either be sheep and live an oblivious brain washed life, then be gutted... or you can be self-appointed heroes and die instantly. Either way we\\\'re all dead and gone no matter what illusions of freedom some of us may have.

For it doesn\\\'t matter who casts the vote, only who counts them!

...........and I guess Romney will come in and everyone will have a job again. Face it, this is a global thing. We're all screwed no matter who is POTUS. I hope Romney does get elected. Within two years when things are worse, I'll laugh when all the haters long for the days of Obama.

I'm very scared for this great country!! I'm really starting to think Obama will get re elected, have you seen the Obama zombies? If you speak out against the POTUS they either blame Bush or other republicans plus your either a racist or a rich prick. I never knew mass brainwashing was so effective forget re education camps we don't need one haha. I watched MSNBC for entertainment yesterday and i've never seen any news source bring up race so many times, I thought Bill O'Reilly was an idiot Chris Matthews has nothing on him. You know your country is in trouble when Vladimir Putin endorses your President and now since Bill Clinton spoke up for Obama people think he's even more amazing since Bill Clinton's never lied to the Public haha. I would love to start a small business but it's not even worth it since there's so much red tape involed. I will always love my country but it's scary but it's a very scary time.

President Mitt Romney and Vice President Paul Ryan will remove the wet blanket that

Obama has wrapped around Free Market Capitalism. There are $$$ trillions sitting in

Fortune 500 corporation bank accounts. They are waiting for - uncertainty - to be removed

from the U.S. economy. Our future is very bright.

I just graduated from College and if I didn't have successful fraternity alumni who are willing to hire and great previous internships I would being getting shafted like most of my friends. It's scary when most of my friends are grossly underemployed or can't even get a job with huge student loans. I have a few friends who are already depressed and getting discouraged, I couldn't image how most others who have been out of work for months or years on end feel.

We see the problem and we see the solution.

Fortune 500 corporations are sitting on $$$ trillions and are ready to grow.

They just need President Mitt Romney to remove uncertainty from the U.S. economy.

We have everything we need to succeed and we will.

Tell them to watch this video for encouragement.

How is watching Clint Eastwood encouragement? So the ramblings of a senile old man to an empty chair supposed to make me optimistic about the future state of our economy?

No ramblings. Just good old fashioned - common sense -

- We own this country ( that one really has the socialists scratching their heads)

- When someone does not do the job, you got to let them go.

With all due respect, IMHO Bill Clinton gave a better speech and is probably more knowledgeable and coherent than Clint within the context of convention speeches.

Everyone knows that a lot of the people getting all of these benefits are fully able to work and would rather just collect money from those who do. I know such a person. He had a job, but he told his boss to F off one day and got fired. Obama gave him 99 weeks of unemployment benefits after the state gave him 26. Then when it ran out he went to the SSA and got a disability excuse and now lives rent free. All of his utilities are paid for by government assistance programs, and his food is also given by the government through food stamps. Although he does secretly work under the table for 3 or 4 hundred a week for spending money when he wants to. He spends his time watching Tv, fishing, watching more Tv, more fishing, smoking lots of cigarettes, and watching more Tv., It really upsets me quite a bit. It's just a way to ensure votes for Obama. I don't like the way this country is going down the way it is.

I read the entire thread to be certain no one had already posted this information. It appears the situation is much worse than that which is reported - including that which is reported in the U-6.

According to the Department of Labor, Record 88,921,000 Americans ‘Not in Labor Force’—119,000 Fewer Employed in August Than July (Dept of Labor Excel doc link in the article).

The article states

There were also 119,000 fewer Americans employed in August than there were in July. In July, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there were 142,220,000 Americans working. But, in August, there were only 142,101,000 Americans working.

It further states

The Bureau of Labor Statistic also reported that in August the labor force participation rate (the percentage of the people in the civilian non-institutionalized population who either had a job or were actively looking for one) dropped to a 30-year low of 63.5 percent, down from 63.7 percent in July.

Adding together the number who ARE working (142,101,000) and the number who are capable of working but are NOT working (88,921,000), that would be a total workforce of 231,141,000. Any way I do the math (and I will readily admit to not excelling at math, so feel free to correct), those numbers indicate the gut-wrenching reality of unemployment stands at 38.4704%. Interestingly, if we subtract the 63.5% cited in the article from 100%, we get a difference of 36.5%, which comes very, very close to my math. =(

Yet they're trying to convince us that we're in the "recovery" portion of a recession?

According to the Wall Street Journal,

The number of jobs added to the economy and the unemployment rate come from separate reports. The number of jobs added — the 96,000 figure — comes from a survey of business, while the unemployment rate comes from a survey of U.S. households.
.

Surveys. The numbers being given to us as "actual" unemployment are coming from surveys. A "survey" would indicate that whomever is conducting the survey, can call any area(s) for purposes of conducting their surveys. Which state has the lowest unemployment? Maybe THAT is that state they're calling each month? Maybe they are calling a just a few in each state and averaging them? Whatever it is they are doing, it is NOT an accurate reporting to the public of the severity of the true unemployment.

How was unemployment calculated during the Great Depression? I can't seem to find that information. However, according to this article:

This gives peak U3 unemployment during the Great Depression as 25.2% and peak U6 unemployment (using the 1.8x multiplier) as 37.6% (versus peak U3 of 10% and peak U6 of 17.2% during the current crisis).
... it indicates the U-6 was a 37.6% during the Great Depression ... which number lands almost right in between the other two numbers I come up with.

Where is the truth in all of it? It's certainly not in that which is being reported to the public.

What's your point? Your "friend" is a bad apple of the bunch. He took advantage of the system. Are you saying you want everyone who has been laid off to be punished?

Outstanding.
