ABC presenter Andy Muirhead viewed porn for 'stress'

A PSYCHOLOGIST treating former ABC presenter Andy Muirhead has told a court he viewed child pornography because of work stress and not for sexual gratification.

I seriously cant see how you can even ATTEMPT to use that as a defence! surely by now he would know the difference between right and wrong and viewing that kind of material is against the law. come on guys, the legal system needs to wake up and put these criminals behind bars. He viewed 13,000 images over 16 months, now seriously, come on. Hopefully the magistrate has some sense and sees through his ridiculous "stress" defence.

Yea that's insanely disgusting, i don't understand how looking at child porn to reduce stress still does not amount to being a pedophile.While the law may say hes not a creep the dude is a pedophile, bureaucratic title or not.

Dr Haines said Muirhead had developed a dissociation condition after working up to seven days a week in the two ABC jobs.

"He was exhausted, he didn't have any balance in his life," she told the court on Friday.

"That level of pressure increases people's stress levels, it increases their arousal.

"That level of arousal starts to feel normal."

She said the arousal was not sexual but involved the "sympathetic" nervous system causing symptoms such as increased adrenaline and heart rate.

Sounds like this Dr Haines wants locking up too. How anyone can defend somebody who uses stress as a reason to watch child porn is beyond me. What an f'ed up world we live in.
