With All The Talk of Civil War

I have been reading allot online recently about the possibilities of a civil war in America.
While I highly doubt any State government would or could go that far, I am wondering if this is something we should be concerned about on a serious level. Could this actually happen in America today?
I do think that our country may very well be extremely divided at this time, but are we more divided now than we were in the 1960's?

Is it more extreme now and if so why?

The mainstream news networks will tell you otherwise. They will say whatever they are paid to say.
Or, allot of the times,they are not seeing the writing on the wall.

Here is an example of this happening, this is from just 5 months before the American Civil War began:

To-day South Carolina is expected to initiate her actual secession from the Union, and the excitement in all circles is intense. Probably the great mass of our people think the crisis has come -- that the country is now falling to pieces, and that very soon its severed sections will be actively engaged in civil war. Such, however, is not the opinion of many of our best thinkers here; and with your permission I propose to give a resume of the arguments and conclusions which have seemed to me most satisfactory, after hearing the great question of the day elaborately discussed in political circles here during, the last fortnight. First let me state the conclusions towards which the arguments tend, and then reason up to them, to see whether these conclusions are sound.

There will be no civil war. We may have some further disturbances; we probably shall have. Before the Disunion fever can abate, it must reach an apparently more alarming crisis in its symptoms than has yet been manifested. But, in the words of an eminent statesman, this Government cannot be broken up until a better is found to take its place, -- one that shall be better for all sections and all interest, -- one that shall provide security for slavery at least equal with that had under the flag of the Union. States may declare themselves out of the Union, and proclaim their independence; but that will not settle the question, dissolve the Union or establish such independence: and in good time, without coercion, and without one single aggressive act upon the part of the de facto Government of "the United States," the scheme of secession will die a natural death and have few mourners in its train.

What we have here is failure to communicate.

I wonder just how many people have actually listened to that song and understand it's true meaning. I think it is one of the greatest songs off all time. I think we are way too divided at this time for there to be a clear case of civil war. Wether it's race, political views, or wealth, we will never be able to come together as the south did during the civil war. There is just too many issues dividing the public. I imagine this was part of the plan for TPTB. It is working well for them so far.

if america was a true democracy, then all any state would have to do is just hold a referendum and if the majority of the citizens of that given state declare their intention to leave, they have every right to.

what gives the other 49 states the right to forcefully determine the course and will of another state.

there would be no need for civil war.

with how divided americans are amongst themselves ... the large number of them being armed... it will make the balkans and somalia look like playgrounds if things get to the point of civil war in america... ugly doesnt even begin to describe what such a scenario would be like...

I don't think that it will reach that point until the outlook of Americans changes dramatically. Only when a large proportion of people want to tear down a status quo do rebellions happen. A lot of people, even if they don't like the system, would like to see the system continue going because the unknown is some scary stuff.

As time goes on though I think it will become a more prescient subject

Not just in America, i've heard the words thrown around here, IN CANADA!! over Quebec and many other really irrelevant issues.. recently too.. it's a North American event if it happens..

it's happening, it's going to happen, it's inevitable, i've known it since I was a young kid. War is coming.
The sides are forming, and we are feeling the growing pains of the factions taking shape..

I see it much differently, I see one of the only things a majority of Americans agreeing on, is the fact that this entire corrupt, abusive, evil system needs to be removed and replaced. Howevver, this system believes it has a right to exist in and of itself. And that it has the rights and grants them to us citizens.

Instead of the reality, that it exists at our pleasure, and we grant it certain powers we can revoke at a time of our choosing. Or completely dismantle the system in its entirety, and replace it with a new system of our choosing.

Well that would take an official vote from a state to announce to the Union that is succeeding.
That would be great, but I really can't see that ever happening again.
I could be wrong though.
Do you think a state would actually and officially go that far?

What would we be divided over? It seems everyone get offended at everyone else. just wondering where the line will be drawn

Whether or not it will happen is up for grabs.

I will offer this however... TX State Guard

They are not the national guard, reserves or regular military and have several branches ready to take over operation of other military groups within TX if required.

Surf around these sites and startling revelations as compared to other states and their National Guards will be readily apparent.

Now let us imagine a world were TX does secede. The TXSG and other TXMF active and take over Fort Hood, one the largest military base in the world. Not to mention the numerous Air Forces bases and other components.

Would the southern states join a charge lead by TX?

(Note: I was born in Wyoming but moved around a lot as child, I'm in TX 'cause it's the land of my wife, and I kind of like it tbh.)
