Do you agree with this statement of redgy's:
australia will become an open house for boat people, illegal immigrants and visa overstayers who abuse the system by taking these jobs from locals and thier higher wage neccesity.

I am not going to play your game...and I feel sad that in this thread you represent India...your thought process is completely illogical....again you outright ignore my questions about what the cost of living is in India? Call me crazy, but when my credit card raises my interest from 6% to 21.9% I want to talk to someone in my friggin country, yeah...the banks I made the deal with to begin with...are there no rules in this world?

Captitalism is the problem because in the pursuit of profit everything else is ignored and/or abused.

Natural mineral exploration and exploitation should be public and the employees making a salary.

I could be wrong on this, but it is something I have experienced before....

Communications professionals that engage in "damage control" on user generated content online, often find themselves arguing from a point of view devoid of logic. Due to the inherit nature of the average Australian Xenophobe, some communications professionals will enter an online discussion in the guise of a person of an ethnic group, in the attempt to draw out racist and derogatory statements, eventually derailing the discussion.

And yes I have seen it happen here on ATS too, so to conclude; I think that user is just trolling.

Very wise obesrvations...and I suspect you are right on...
The sad part is I really do think that communication between people of different countries is important...we have to have some understanding of each other that is not influenced by our corrupt media and governments...and it seems that window of opportunity is "under attact"....I don't believe this person is really from India...but I sure would enjoy talking to someone who actually is.....

LOL....I had to look up the word Xenophobe.....and actually that is one part of your post I disagree with....

en.wikipedia.org...

This is not about "fearing" something different...it's a logical, practical, friggin mess....the elite can't expect unreasonable amounts of money to live in western countries, and then ship the jobs to other countries in the name of "buisness"......lol...well actually I guess they can and they have.

many mines supply thier workers with accomadation, food, transport and staples, fly in/out workers to and from such sites which allows a 24/7 hourly production rate. this is one area, where outsourcing to these lower/slave labour income workers may be seen as viable for cost cutting practices. the worker only needs to be onsite for the duration of thier term basicaly cost free of charge, and then return back to where ever country they come from to spend their dollars.

the magnates still become richer, the jobs for australians still become scarce, the spending still goes overseas.

Hmm. I have a few points I'd like to make about all of that. But if you want the short version, it is simply don't fall for the divisive and obfuscating trap laid by Gina. She is playing the jingoistic nationalist BS much loved by politicians. She is playing it for all it is worth. It is a ploy and unfortunately for all of us it is a very successful ploy.

Here's why.

"Boat people, illegal immigrants, and visa overstayers" are phrases meant to inspire fear, they are used by politicians and the elites to divide workers. We are meant to stay dumb, to react blindly, without thinking. These words are meant to encourage base nationalism at its worst. A political con meant to divide and hide reality from the workers.

We live in a globalised market and that means a globalised work force. And it is this work force we are part of and Gina, like the other fat cat ruling class are targeting that entire work force. Gina and her counterparts are intent on driving down wages right across the world.

Witness Detroit today. Motown is now the poorest city in the US. Yet it was once a mega successful dynamic powerhouse of industrial achievement. Today in the US the remaining car factories have in place a two tier wage system. All new workers are hired on the basis they accept the same wage as their Chinese counterparts!

Do you know what unites or rather should unite Aussie miners with their African miners? It is the intentions of their employees! Gina and her counterparts in Africa and elsewhere wish to drive down costs by slashing wages to the bare minimum. And what is the minimum, somewhere in the vicinity of single digit numbers as Gina has already made clear. Even $15 an hour is poverty level in Australia. You can't live on that. You can't pay the rent and you certainly cannot raise a family on that kind of wage.

So yes, Gina is saying we must accept slave wages. And she is whipping up nationalism to see to it we remain divided. African workers, Chinese workers, US workers, Aussie workers, are all the same to these fat cat capitalists who see the global recession to be the perfect opportunity to attack the conditions of workers world wide. Austerity has come to Australia, and the Aussies are only beginning to understand what that is going to mean. In a word Aussies are not unique. They are not special. They are in fact the targets of the ruling elite who are becoming increasingly aware without their wealth they may lose their privileged life, and worse they face a united working class aware and angry.

You can say what you like about Gina, yes she is fat, she is mean, she is viscous, and above all she is fantastically wealthy.

Remember it is the workers who make everything - all that technology, engineering, and science allows us to have.

But Gina and her ilk make what? Money - for themselves.

They are little more than parasites. They hold humankind back from bettering themselves. They attempt to blind us to our real divided condition that she and her kind wish to make sure will continue. Ultimately the consequence of the jingoism Gina and her kind whip up with their nationalist talk is war between nations. World war. And guess who is going to be fighting on the frontlines? Not Gina and her kind.

Probably because Bill Gates donates nearly all of his personal profit to charity and doesn't insinuate that his employees should be paid less despite him making hundreds of millions in annual revenue?

Oh right, I forgot paying your employees a wage they can live comfortable on is welfare.. Oh wait, no it isn't.

Also, 5 minutes of research revealed that the approx. annual wage in Nigeria (West Africa, in case you didn't know) is 1,543$. 2 dollars a week comes out to about 105$ annually.

HMM. GUESS SOMEONE IS EITHER GROSSLY UNDERPAYING THEIR EMPLOYEES OR THIS FATSO IS BLATANTLY LYING.

so GINA with federal government approval to not only allow, but to take away from austalian counterparts any work that's not profitable for the company, but also pay minimum wages to those 1000+ migration workers being allowed access to these jobs.

if one company is legally allowed then others also, instead of say the business going to africa, africa will become the business here.

she already commented on australians being overpaid and lazy plus having a shortage of workers to fill her roles, who do you think will fill the roles when the mines and all the infrastructure associated with it expands across half of australia ?? not the locals, that's for sure.

She makes those comments for the same reasons the politicians do. To pull your strings. To get you to react - as in not to think.

The cause of the job loss is not foreign workers for pities sake. Its the government and corporations taking the opportunity presented by the massive prolonged global downturn to erase all of the concessions given to workers since your granddaddies days. They are getting you to look away (at easy targets like refugees, illegal immigrants, gypsies, ufos whatever) away from the real cause of your troubles.

The vast majority of the manufacturing industry was shipped off overseas because the corporations demanded less cost, i.e. lower wages. They went to those emerging economies, like China. Now those same Chinese workers are demanding higher wages so they can afford rental housing with rents rocketing and food prices and electricity also getting steep by the month. Sound familiar? The conditions here are happening all over the world.

How about the service industry, there is another prime example.Remember how once you would call the electricity company and get someone in India? They shipped the call services out of Australia and then to India, then when they demanded higher wages they shipped the call service to the Philippines. Do you know where a lot of the call services people now? America. Think about next time you ring your local government department , electricity company, from Perth or where ever in Aussie you are if that is where you are, and hear that American accent.

BTW did you know that in the US 50% of the population is now on or below the poverty line?

Well that is what they have planned for Australia if this global recession continues on into 2013 and beyond - and it will.

Just as soon as the demand for Chinese products from America, Europe, and Japan takes a more serious dive, the demand for raw material from the top of Australia will suddenly dry up. Any day now. Or are you not paying attention to what is going on with the mines? The Australian today headlines read the Pilbara based mining operators are facing the prospect of consolidating just to survive the plunge in iron ore prices.
Or read the latest from Aussie yourself:
Mining confidence sapped by price slump

BHP shuts Queensland coal mine as prices slide - video

It doesn't matter if they come over here or you go over there, the wages are going to be about the same, you are going to be living in poverty in your old age. That is where we are all heading as workers.

It is time to realise the kind of game being played here. And how you, I, we all are being played.

It doesn't matter if you are from Wollongong, Chicago, Suva, Shanghai, or Calcutta your wages are being corrected to rock bottom. We are going to be told 'they' are coming to get our jobs, 'they' are going to take our country. It is all about ruling by dividing.

Do you like it that Gina, the government, the media corporations are pulling your strings?

I think she should experience some real struggles. She could come to our place for a week and live as we do, then see how many more ignorant comments she could blast through her stupid mouth. I sure would love to tell her face to face a thing or to, I've seen her ravings before.

I get tired of these elites always pushing us around.
