Let's face it - she didn't make her money through her people skills did she?

edit on 5-9-2012 by ollncasino because: (no reason given)

People skills aren't required for the business she is in, so why would it matter?

I also don't think she 'rode the wave' as much as most think either. Do you honestly think she just happened to inherit the only mineral rich areas of Australia? Hardly. She, or her team, has been making very good, very shrewd business decisions since she gained control. They have diversified and diversified well.

You don't have to like her, but I think it would be a mistake to underestimate her.

Are people skills not required in all human activities?

Australian mineral mine owners have done very well from the boom in China.

In what way has she diversified out of mining?

I certainly wouldn't under estimate her ability to offend the Australian Prime Minster and 99% of the Australian population.

Way to go girl!

The entire point is that, she INHERITED $75 million; more money than the average hard-worker would make in many lifetimes. Then proceeds to say people not wealthy like her are lazy; and fit to work for 2 dollars per day. The hypocrisy, ignorance & narcissism is on a level that would dumbfound even the most simple minds. She's a disgraceful excuse for a human being -- period.

It matters a lot more than you can imagine, no people skills usually mean your company is going to go bust unless you assign the people skills to your underlings.

I am sure this is the case here.

To the OP S&F from all the workers around the world whom are getting pretty sick and tired of being kicked when we are already down on the ground level so to speak.

You should go marry her Peck.

Your head is so far up her butt there's an echo.

Quite a catch.....though I think you'll need a BIG net...and an even BIGGER boat.

Does she sell her products and services to Africans?

Can they afford them on $2 per day?

Based on my experiences in Alberta's oil industry, no. When it comes to resources people don't care mostly because people don't actually meet in today's environment. I can say without hesitation that I have only spoken, yes spoken, to a third of my clients. Actually seen and met in person, a handful.

Australian mineral mine owners have done very well from the boom in China.

Yes they have, but not so well as Gina. In fact, not even in the same realm as Gina, and that says something. As I stated in both my posts, I don't know if it is her that calls the shots or a team, but whomever it is, is making very good business decisions.

In what way has she diversified out of mining?

Aside from investing a couple hundred million into media companies? Who knows...well her accountant knows.

And she multiplied that by 388 times so far.

Far better than most people do with their own money.

But, why worry about stuff like that?

Why is it that some of the most mineral rich areas on this Planet also lay claim to the highest levels of poverty?
This is certainly true of Africa, and looks like this woman hopes to see Australia follow suit.

I respectfully disagree.

I employ many people that dislike me. Funny thing is, they really like what I pay them. I know it is not the best way to operate, but the business I am in does not care for niceties. Hell, if my employees aren't willing to stab me in the back for profit, I really don't want them around. It is a cut throat industry, so I need to employ the best cut throats I can.

Unfortunate, but necessary in my base industry

I suspect that $2 wouldn't keep her in snacks for a day.

Why do rich people always assume that their success is due to their own abilities rather than being down to having a rich father or being lucky?

She wouldn't need any snacks. he is carrying enough extra flab to get her though a couple of years. And to top it all off, this crap comes out of the mouth of someone who didn't make her fortune. She inherited it off daddy. She's not an Aussie, she's a joke. Come on financial crash! can't wait for some of these high rollers to fall flat on their flabby faces

Gina Rinehart

Because she made her fortune selling developed mining lands and contracts to the relatively rich people of Australia.

If she had been trying to sell her services to Africans who earn $2 per day, she would have gone out of business, for a lack of business.

In the world of economics, you REAP what you SOW.

Businesspeople like her are the absolute worst parasites on the collective human species.

Because the Billions that she has made don't seem to be enough for her...

So much so that she now wants others to have less so she can have more.

Not enough profit ... I want mooore profit ..... profits.

By the way Peck we all know money attracts more money .... once you get past a certain amount it becomes virtually impossible not to accrue even more.

Try multiplying 2 Dollars a day.

Send her down the mines, see if she's willing to do it for $2 a day, after a days work.

You forgot the most important part of my post as follows
To the OP S&F from all the workers around the world whom are getting pretty sick and tired of being kicked when we are already down on the ground level so to speak.
You can pay pennies or you can pay thousands but in the long run your workers are your profit, piss enough off at one time and you get a very well deserved break in your profits.

Your attitude stinks just like your precious oil sands, I hope my position is clear from a long time now unemployed worker and a hard worker at that.

Not this pig again! This woman must want to abandon her country like olde Rupert did.... Please don't send this person to the USA because we have enough idiots and rich morons!

I always loved the thought of going down under but this makes me rethink why I would travel to another country where the elite have a class warfare ongoing!

New Zealand has some great trout fishing ... Does Australia have great trout fishing too?
