Large low flying plane circling over south Nottingham UK (03/09/12) Any ideas?

There were five airshows listed for the 8th-9th of September in the UK, Ireland region, since this was posted on the 5th, I picked the closest show dates, because they usually only practice the few days prior.

Sept 8-9: Southport Seafront, Lancashire
Foxlands Farm, Cosby, Leicestershire (although this appears to be mostly historic aircraft)
IWM Duxford, Cambridgeshire
Portrush, Coleriaine, Northern Ireland

Sept 9: Seething Airfield, Norfolk

I'm not sure how far you are from any of those areas, but he was probably practicing for a flight demonstration at one of those, or another airshow.

Looking at the wing and engine configuration I would say that what you photographed there was B52 Flying fortress. But as you say there a lot of big aircraft around this area.

That one is a B-52, but that's not the one mentioned in the original post. There are no pics of the one in the original post.
