OH! I think I get it. "'Intellectuals' love censorship." Are you referring to the threads that have been yanked in the last ten minutes? And if you are, does that mean that the Mods are "Intellectuals?" I don't think I've ever heard a Mod claim that.

You shouldn't pick on them like that, they can't help it if they lack common sense. Not all intellectuals are like that, memorizing a lot of things robs the mind's processing ability. There are some people with great knowledge and the ability to adapt it to situations outside of their field. Most people choose one field of expertise, this allows them to excel in it. Our society is structured that way if you haven't noticed.

You sound like-

On the other hand, instead of having to devote my energy to the learning of a multitude of things, I concentrated it upon a few particular things, such as, for instance, the analysis of Poe's place in American literature - an essay of mine, by the way, in the current Atlantic. Coming aboard, as I passed through the cabin, I had noticed with greedy eyes a stout gentleman reading the Atlantic, which was open at my very essay. And there it was again, the division of labour, the special knowledge of the pilot and captain which permitted the stout gentleman to read my special knowledge on Poe while they carried him safely from Sausalito to San Francisco.

I guess certain topics can offend. Im not blaming ATS. I think society is that way. Its kind of dumb because certain things cant be examined.

I think at this point, it is common knowledge, that the gigher up the "intellectual" ladder people climb, they get so used to being told they are right all the time they lose the ability to assume they might not be somtimes.

Much the way the super rich and hollywood elite, get wackier and wackier with time, as everyone around them blows smoke up their asses, while always kissing it to try to garner favor. Tom cruise wasn't always a nut job, it was only after every person he knows telling him how great he is for so long that he went bat# crazy.

I can name many more examples, but I believe you hard hitting ATSers already know wherfe I am comming from.

A lot of intellectuals are more concerned with LOOKING smart than actually BEING smart. They collect degrees and titles like cub-scout badges. And the deeper they get entrenched into the system, the bigger their stake in maintaing the status quo, which makes them more open to manipulation.

Few realize how much the uppermost heights of the Ivory Tower are more about indoctrination than the pursuit of free knowledge. And if they do realize it, most repress the knowledge.

I think the 'fever' that got to TOM CRUISE about his influence in the public eye,its getting also on the websites like ATS,sadly nothing said about anything rigth now will change the history of the WWII, theres other web sites with less anarchy,the point is to learn the other side of the story.DENY IGNORANCE......I will keep looking into this,feel like theres a big can of worms thats just been opened....

What it really comes down to, I think, is this: Intellect is cool. It's pretty nifty and useful, but it pales in comparison to the highest form of "intellect." Spiritual intellect if you will: Wisdom.

I know a lot of folk in the small mountain community where I'm currently living that don't have much traditional education, but they are some of the smartest folk I've EVER been around when it comes to living a life of character, strength, and goodwill.

They are surrounded by others who love them throughout their life, and when they die they are surrounded by folk who loved them.

How smart is that?

Most intellectuals are just loquacious and enjoy using words more than they do their thoughts.
