Indigo ... BOTH SENTENCES MEAN PRETTY MUCH THE SAME THING.

They both mean that the democrats LIED and MISLEAD. And the stories tell it like it is ... DNC speakers embellished Obama's record and Mislead on Romneys record. The title is exactly what happened. They dont' have to match titles perfectly. That's absurd.

To quote you right back atchya .. it just cracks me up that the left is so trained to make excuses for their crooked politicians, they even try to claim that these sentences don't mean the same thing when they clearly DO!!!

Uh oh, the Democrats are scrambling. They just voted on the floor to change parts of their platform back to the 2008 one. Specifically that Jerusalem is the capitol of Israel and that everyone has the right to live up to their GOD given abilities.

In less than 24 hours from the start, the Democrats cave to pressure.

Sorry, no link but it's happening live.

The religious right can now can be happy that who ever wins the election will still be subservient to Israel. sigh

I hoped the Democrats would have the backbone to return America to a country not lead by foreign religious zealotry.

In my opinion, this is a party failure. Jerusalem is part of Israel...Israel is not a one of our 50 states. To succumb to any platform that includes Israel is also a mission that is unpatriotic. Correct me if I am wrong, but we have 50 (and only 50) states that are more important than ANY sovereign, foreign entity. Are all 50 states named in the platform? Even then, is it not Israel's responsibility to take care of themselves? We (The United States of America) certainly take care of ourselves...why can't Israel?

Democrats change platform to add God, Jerusalem

CHARLOTTE, N.C. Democrats have changed their convention platform to add a mention of God and declare that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel.

The move came after criticism from Republicans.

Many in the audience booed after the convention chairman, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, ruled that the amendments had been approved despite the fact that a large group of delegates objected.

He called for a vote three times before ruling.

The party reinstated language from the 2008 platform that said "we need a government that stands up for the hopes, values and interests of working people and gives everyone willing to work hard the chance to make the most of their God-given potential."

The platform also now includes what advisers said was Obama's personal views on Jerusalem.

Peoples reported from Utah.

If they meant the same thing then the right wing outlets wouldn't have changed the headline from the APs original headline...That is just simple truth and logic.

They deleted the word "some" to give way for the more damning inference of "all"
They added "Mislead on Romney" when it never existed in the headline or the article..

The article said that "[some] mischaracterized programs backed by Republican challenger Mitt Romney and GOP running mate Paul Ryan."

OF COURSE there is a difference...why else would they change the headline and hope folks wouldn't notice....

Mostly, IMO, because the headline is as far as most GOPers read...and the story is very small potatoes, even more so when compared to what FOX News characterized as an Olympic performance of LIES that Paul Ryan spewed out in his speech.

With all this Jerusalem talk, thought it was worth mentioning that an article was just posted on CNN reporting that Israeli/American actress Natalie Portman would be speaking at DNC thursday.

I saw the headlines on the news today. The Democrats are now desperate enough to stop catering to extreme left wing and pander to the Jewish vote. Will the Jewish people see through this last minute detail?

Come on, I get called a troll for providing factual information, and you blatantly throw that statement out there?

This thread and its RNC counter part just appears to be chalked full of cheerleader rhetoric while the other team tries to throw holes into it.

No wonder everything is messed up.

Winning Florida would be nice, but Obama wins the presidency with or without the vote of the Israelite. Duty and loyalty to another sovereign nation is political suicide....just ask the conservatives about Obama and Kenya.

So did anyone else see the vote they did on TV?

It reminded me of the Republican Convention, clearly the Nays have it... and the speaker gave it to the Yays.

What made it funny to me, besides the fact that Republicans did the same exact thing, there was a Lady standing next to the Speaker. After the first vote the speaker was confused on what to do, she came to him and the mic picked her up saying, "Just keep going, they are gonna do what they are going to do."

Just like the Republicans, this stuff is scripted. Your "vote" does not matter, they are not listening to you!

You stated...
"Funny that, Julian Castro's mother, Rosie helped found a radical, anti-white, socialist Chicano party called La Raza Unida. "

And that is opinion...and both a questionably supported and vehemently disputed opinion...

I qualified my statement "IMO"...In My Opinion...sure it was a partisan "slap" and this is the PMad. forum...but it is also just my opinion and I made a point to qualify it as such...and I didn't claim my opinion as fact....like you just did.

AP Sources: Obama intervened on platform
By JULIE PACE and STEVE PEOPLES
Associated Press
Posted: Wednesday, Sep. 05, 2012

www.charlotteobserver.com/2012/09/05/3506408/democrats-change-platform-to-add.html

CHARLOTTE, N.C. Campaign officials say President Barack Obama personally intervened to change language in his party's platform on Jerusalem and God.

Democrats amended their convention platform Wednesday to add a mention on God and declare that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel.

The officials said Obama's reaction on the omission of God from the platform was to wonder why it was removed in the first place.

GOP challenger Mitt Romney said omitting a reference to God suggested Democrats were out of touch with mainstream America. Republicans also said omitting a reference to Jerusalem showed Obama was weak on Israel.

The officials requested anonymity because they were not authorized to speak about private discussions.

THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE. Check back soon for further information. AP's earlier story is below.

Embarrassed by Republicans, Democrats amended their convention platform Wednesday to add a mention of God and declare that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel.

Many in the audience booed after the convention chairman, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, ruled that the amendments had been approved despite the fact that a large group of delegates had objected. He called for a vote three times before ruling.

The party reinstated language from the 2008 platform that said "we need a government that stands up for the hopes, values and interests of working people and gives everyone willing to work hard the chance to make the most of their God-given potential."

It also reinstated its 2008 language that Jerusalem "is and will remain the capital of Israel. The parties have agreed that Jerusalem is a matter for final status negotiations. It should remain an undivided city accessible to people of all faiths."

Democrats had approved a platform on Tuesday that made no mention of God or Jerusalem. Instead, it expressed "unshakable commitment to Israel's security."

Republicans pounced quickly on both omissions.

GOP officials argued that not taking a position on Jerusalem's status in the party platform showed the president was weak in his support of Israel. Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney said omitting God "suggests a party that is increasingly out of touch with the mainstream of the American people."

"I think this party is veering further and further away into an extreme wing that American's don't recognize," Romney said.

The Democratic Party's decision to restore the mention of Jerusalem reflected what advisers said was the president's personal view, if not the policy of his administration. The administration has long said determining Jerusalem's status was an issue that should be decided by Israelis and Palestinians in peace talks, but has been careful not to state that Jerusalem is Israel's capital.

Romney's campaign quickly sought to capitalize on the slight, but important difference.

"Mitt Romney has consistently stated his belief that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel," said Andrea Saul, Romney's spokeswoman. "President Obama has repeatedly refused to say the same himself. Now is the time for President Obama to state in unequivocal terms whether or not he believes Jerusalem is Israel's capital."

The White House wouldn't say whether the change in the Democratic platform language reflected a change in administration policy.

Democratic National Committee chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz said the reinstated party language reflected "the policy of both Republican and Democratic administrations for decades."

Following the decision, former Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland told reporters, "It was an effort to bring clarification."

But the decision to amend the platform did not rest well with some delegates.

Noor Ul-Hasan, a Muslim delegate from Salt Lake City, Utah, said she felt it went against the principle of the separation of church and state.

"There are people who don't believe in God and you have to respect that as well," Ul-Hasan said. She also questioned whether the convention had enough of a quorum to even amend the platform. "There was no discussion. We didn't even see it coming. We were blindsided by it."

Angela Urrea, a delegate from Roy, Utah, said she felt it was sprung on the convention without any discussion.

"The majority spoke last night," Urrae said, noting the platform was approved Tuesday. "We shouldn't be declaring Jerusalem as the capital of Israel."

Republicans declared Jerusalem the capital of Israel in the platform the party approved last week at its convention in Tampa, Fla.

Peoples reported from Utah. Associated Press writer Ken Thomas in Charlotte, N.C., contributed to this report.

What reality are you living in? I just watched the same event. There is no Question; Barack Obama is the DNC nominee. Nice try! Go to the back of the line and attempt derailment again in 48-months from today.

You mean greater than someone means you beat them in an election? Perhaps there is a miscommunication here as to what greatness means. I was really talking about character. Ted is not the man JFK was and him winning election after election did not make him "greater" than Romney, nor does Obama being elected make him greater than anyone else. His record is terrible and any reelection of him just means people are too brainwashed by the media to make informed decisions.
