Yes, when he's well over 80, we'll all be waiting anxiously four years from now...

I cannot believe he didn't mention Johnson. How utterly infuriating.

As other people have surmised, I'm beginning to think RP's ego and wallet was more important than his message.

Great read!

I just started Libra by Don Delillo - gettin' comfy in bed with a book myself.

Rest easy, my fellow dreamers...

I respect that fact that Paul will not endorse anyone. No one shares Paul's unique vision of the future, because Paul is ahead of his time, politically speaking, therefore I do not see why he should endorse anyone, as there isn't anyone. Simply "approaching" Paul's views is not the same as sharing them, and if Paul didn't think Johnson would do what he himself would do if he gained office, I don't see why he would endorse him. That's how I see it anyway. Paul has always been a straight arrow, and all about the issues. He isn't going to give an endorsement just because everyone wants him to.

If he thinks there is someone worthy enough, he would probably have given it. And that doesn't mean he is stuck up. As I said, he is an innovator, and I think that if he wants it, he can become President in 2016. With as much support as he has now, if he campaigned hard to expose what has happened to him the majority of his career, I think he will do nothing but gain support and funding for a new campaign. But, he is getting up there in age, and I have a feeling he wouldn't want to be elected in 4 more years.

Also, the state of the USA could drastically change in 4 years. That isn't to say Paul wouldn't have adequate views if that were to happen, but many of his supporters endorse him because of his stance on current issues, and not because he has been one of the only honest politicians. And all of the candidates in 4 years could be spouting the same thing, without much difference between them and even their parties perhaps.

Rand Paul, in my opinion, is going in the wrong direction. I don't think he is going to be anything like his father, but we will see. I think he will make political decisions based on "political smarts," as opposed to what he thinks, feels, and believes, like his father would have done. I personally think that is a bad thing, and this is why career politicians are part of the problem, their lack of commitment to their own personal beliefs. Because when you think about it, that is why people vote for them. People should be voting based on the candidates' positions, not the candidate themselves, at least for the most part. Personality is only important to a certain extent, in my opinion, because too much personality can cause some to overlook other gaping character flaws. This is part of what happened with Obama, imo.

On Leno tonight:

"If you ever come to the conclusion, heaven forbid, that the two parties aren't all that different, then what is left?"

That's as close as Libertarians and Johnson are going to get to an endorsement from Ron Paul, given Rand Paul's position.

Can you imagine a Ron Paul - Ross Perot run at the White House? Talk about not taking any S from anyone! I'd vote for them.

I find it hilarious what he said about having to choose between a Czar or in charge of the Fed reserve. Mr. Paul, such a joker ha

Announcement was "get ready for 2016."
? At least that's what I gathered from it. Jay was serving up questions for him, but he didn't jump at the opportunity. I know Leno's ratings aren't that good, but if he ruffled some feathers, all the tmz's and 'the soup's would talk about it, generating more buzz. I gotta say it's kinda a letdown, just like the fizzled bid for prez.

Could it be to accept the VP position under Gary Johnson? (GJ did say he'd choose Ron Paul...remember this?)

While I might agree with some of the Gary Johnson message, spliting the vote on Nov 2nd 2012 will only elect OBAMA back into office. People, please, don't THROW AWAY your vote on a misguided notion that a 3rd Party
is going to RESCUE us from OBAMA and his Socialist Regime changes.

As if Romney would be any better. At all. Come on man, we're screwed either way. It's time to send a message that we're sick of being fed 2 a##holes every 4 years

Exactly this. It's because of people that give up and throw away their vote that we get nowhere. You either fight for freedom or you bend over and let Obama/Romney take charge of your colonoscopy.

Hes not going to be anyones VP. It's kinda foolish to not accept that RPs campaign is pretty much over at this point.

I would be this "big announcement" will simply be who he is going to endorse, that's it nothing more.

Seriously. The main reason that we're doomed is becuase people are actually buying the argument that one candidate is somehow going to 'fix' things. They're not. They won't. And they can't. The only way to take this country back is to thropw out BOTH parties en masse. But there are just too many people that just parrot the corporate-fed BS. No, Romney isn't going to 'fix' anything. The Republicans get in and it will be BAU. People have such short memories.

I hope he says he's going to become a demoncrate and try to ruin their chances of winning every 4 years. Please, please go to the other side, ya nut.

It gets kind of frustrating on ATS when people post things with way overblown (and misleading) titles. This post and another post (both on the ATS front page) made it seem like RP was going to make a big annoucement. And from watching the entire interview...RP barely even spoke and he pretty much stuck to his usual talking points. In fact, if you watched the whole episode comedian Kevin Hart had a much longer interview with Leno.

I wish people on ATS weren't such sensationalists. It somewhat ruins the actual sensational posts that some of the more refined and mature ATS members bring to the table. Please stop trying to make headlines. Do some research, find something genuine and then give us the big boastful headline. Let's respect the integrity of the website and it's members.

Unfortunately, as it stands in the US, the only way Paul would even get close to the the oval office, is if he ran on an independent ticket. It's sad that he won't give it a shot. This just leads me to think of the possibility that he is just a puppet and what he was doing was nothing but a show and distraction.

Yes the idea of controlled oposition comes to mind, when ever I think of some of his actions. I would love RP to get into power in the states. Other wise you end up with lesser of two evils. Either with us or against us. He should jump at the chance in my opinion. To try this third party route after all if the people are fed up of the 2 party system. Then this would be the perfect time to go for it.

Just watched a G.H.W. Bush bio/documentary on public TV - In it he clearly states that he never forgave Ross Perot for costing him the election - hates him still to this day. So it goes without saying that RP didn't want to be in a similar relation to Mitt Romney.............because if RP ran on a 3 party ticket Romney would surely have lost the election - this way its a ROMNEY WIN by a slippery slimy mudslide.

Leno, "The big question, any chance you will run as a third party?"

Paul, "Uh, no, not much..."

I find it a little strange that 2 months out he wasn't prepared to give an unequivocal, "No." That tells me that there is still some scrambling going on behind the scenes, and a glimmer of a chance, however small.

I suspect that Paul's people would still like to find a way to make a third party run work, but cannot seem to get all the way there.

Maybe he's finally worked out an excuse as to why he's been linked with and photographed shaking hands with so many racists.
