Uploading an Avatar

For four year i have tried and tried to upload an avatar, it is a small image so its not above the size limit. why is it so hard to perform such a simple task, i am a reasonbly inteligint individual. i put the link to the image in the "avatar" section and clicked "submit" lo and behold nothing appears

Is it the right file type and size? Certain files can't be uploaded and over a certain limit in both kb size and dimension size. You also need to have adobe flash installed on your system, that could very well be the problem.

Check all these three and if you have any probs then post up the pic and I'll see if there's anything else that may be a problem with it.
