Either call the police and risk being shot by them (like the recent case in Tampa), or defend yourself and get arrested by the police for doing so.

If someone is breaking in, I would rather defend myself and take my chances with the law (not justice, liberal agenda has moved society away from justice)

heh, i have a friend who is in law, they told me of a case where a man was trying to break into a home from the roof, he stepped on the kitchen skylight,fell through and landed on the kitchen knives in the wood block, got cut and sued the people who own the house, he won because court said you dont have any right to booby trap your house.......he fell on the butchers block, with knives in it, trying to break into the house !!!!!!! it just tells you how f ing stupid the judges/court systems are in this world lol (or at least in the usa)

When will the UK, crap nation it has become learn people! If you find someone breaking into your family home in the dead of night then you have the god given right to protect yourself and you property with any force necessary! Stuff there daft laws, demand a jury trial, none of your 12 peers will return a guilty verdict if the have the sense that god gave them. I would have carved my name on one of there foreheads if it was my flat!

The couple have been bailed, although I honestly still stand by that they won't be charged. Two of the four burglars have been charged, I believe the two that haven't are the two that were shot and injured in the shooting.

If the couple aren't charged, this will be a landmark decision in the UK. It will basically mean that if you lawfully own a firearm and person(s) break in to your property under criminal intent, you will be able to defend yourself with said firearm. I don't think people fully realise the importance and far reaching consequences that rest on this couple being not charged. So far since Labour were slung out of government, nobody has been charged for defending their property from intruders, but nobody has used a firearm. This will take self defence within the home to that next level where by a firearm can be used to defend your home.

I think it is important however to understand that these intruders were wounded which is definately reasonable and justifiable self defence. I think the CPS would be going hell for leather had the couple killed them with a firearm. Which may work more favourably for the British Public, if a court rules that it was self defence then that ruling would be definitive in the meassures that a person can take in order to defend themselves within their home.

As I have previously said, Britain is becoming more violent. A person should through all and every means defend themselves in their own property should a person with criminal intent gain entry. Don't be fooled in to thinking that if we all love one another, nothing bad can ever happen, that is far from the truth and any single one of us can be in the same situation that this couple found themselves in, or worse. Defend yourselves and your family at all cost.

Come on CPS, make the right decision.

Yes once again our justice system does us proud. Four men break into an occupied house, cry to the police when they get shot and then the homeowners get arrested too!

Sorry but this kind of thing does my nut in. I'll wait for more info before really going on a rant, i just hope that this couple gets off with self defence. I don't care if the guys were armed or not....don't break into peoples houses you thieving scum!

Maybe it's a reminder to the British public that if anyone breaks into your house, make sure you do a good job on them so it's worth getting arrested.

I'm in Colorado. Assuming this was on my property, they would have been confronted by my AR-15 & holstered 357 as well as my wife's tactical 12 gauge and her 9mm. Screw the consequences; you mess with my stuff, you can absolutely expect a massive response. I didn't even mention the dogs or the other weapons.

P.S. I lived in New Market for about 3 years back in the early 80's, so I know what you're saying. (Bury St. Edmonds before that).

I agree entirely with the vast majority of what you posted, however, I've got to say the tone suggests an anti-Labour agenda.

Parliament drafts laws.

The CPS is empowered to prosecute those who allegedly break those laws and to do so to the letter of the law.
The judiciary determine interpretation of those laws and hand out sentencing in accordance with those laws.
Both are supposed to act free from political whim or bias.

Of course I'm not naive enough to think for one minute that our politicians don't try to unduly influence overall policy or effect the direction etc of specific cases.
But I very much doubt that the Conservatives are any more or less prone to this than Labour are.

If the CPS choose not to prosecute in this case then it should be done so in accordance with the law and not due to undue pressure from the government.

The judiciary, police and CPS must remain completely independant of government and if we allow the government to dictate policy then it's just another step backwards and autocratic government.

IMHO its the silly laws that should be disappeared! Police should be concentrating on Murders, Rape, and there like! Those 4 muppets should have been added to the compost heap and the 2 that stopped them given a hat and a balloon!
