Libya worse after Gaddafi?

It seems like america and nato are purposely helping al queda move into these countries by helping them to overethrow the ruling governments in these countries.
Whats in it for america and nato? maybe a never ending "war on terror" which would be very profitable for certain people.
unlike other wars, there is no way for the common people to know when the war is over, we have to take TPTB word for it when they tell us that there are still terrorist roaming around out there. They could keep this war on terror going on indefinately. Without access to top secret information we have no way of knowing if they are lieing to us when they say that there are still powerful terrorist groups out there capable of attacking us.
it`s been 11 years since 9/11,bin laden and a lot of other terrorist are dead so how many more years will it be before they decide that the war on terror is over?
how many more years will they continue to strip away our rights in the name of homeland security?
