Occupy has been a total failure. If that's the best Sorros can do, then I wouldn't lose any sleep. Limp wristed protests in the park will get you nowhere. Maybe that's where Sorros has been successful. The Koch's have managed to make the Tea Party a far more powerful influence on American politics than Occupy could have ever hoped for.

We shouldn't support either of these billionaire oligarchs. They have no care for us. just because one is backing a different side doesn't make them any less dangerous an influence. The problem is we have allowed a society where a tiny group of men can have so much influence over what are meant to be representative governments.

Our Government officials should be defending us from the likes of Sorros and the Koch brothers, not protecting them and colluding with them.

the economy, unemployment, GDP, consumer confidence, the war in Afghanistan, Obama's kill-list, raising taxes, cost of food increases, cost of gas increases, Hurricane Issac, drones in AMerican skies, UN tax decrees, ACA, ad nauseum.

Yes, and i don't expect to see a $16 Trillion Debt Clock on the wall.

That's the 8,000 pound pink elephant in the room that the liberals don't want you to see.

Their poster girl is pathetic. - Sandra Fluke - ?

The DNC Convention will be a disaster. Hillary is on the other side of the planet.

Yup. All of Romneys picks are Bushs' warmongers Neo-con Zionist team.

Your right. He really wants to restart the cold war and return the U.S. to the glory days of the arms race. Which means funneling vast sums of money into the military industry. More nation building bankrupting the United States.

His RNC speech reeked of cold war politics. It's like the Berlin wall never came down in Romney's mind.

I used to think the same thing until the republican party nominated a moderate liberal leaning Republican who is now pretending to be something different to please the radical right. Republicans are suffering from Schizophrenia.

There was only one true conservative running for the republican nomination and they strong armed him and his supporters out of the way.

The DNC convention is up and coming and I want to see those critics hold their own party to the same standards they set for the Republicans This week.

Come on be as viscious, and as condenscending as those threads show who is morally and intellectually "superior".

Come on ATS show how "fair and balanced" we are. From a no name senator turned Potus whose abismal performance of the last 4 years that they have to drag out Clinton who was a tad bit better than the golden boy of the left.

Go on let's hear the criticism of Fluke speaking and the left's never ending push for corporate products, Birth control, education.alternative energy.

Or the same old tune of "infrastructure" is the key to solving the current financial crisis of Government spending

Let's here the plan to end the massive spending in this country that doesn't end up with an OWS slogan of tax the rich.

Let's hear some substance for once instead of "cess pool debate talking points" that have been spoken on this site for years.

It is one's perogative to hate the Republican's but still the past week I heard nothing new from the Republican critics.

Who am I kidding that will never happen 4 more years of the same failed ideology, 4 more years of the same recycled rhetoric.

4 more years of the same crap different day but hey Voted for Obama because Republicans are evil incarnate Just one thing:

Still underwater on a mortgage, still out of work as of this moment what the hell is going to change in the next 4 years that all that "success" of the past 4 years solve?.

What's totally weird to me is how you vilify education, alternative energy, birth control, infrastructure spending, and taxing the bejeebies out of the obscenely rich...the vast majority of whom did not earn their wealth nor deserve it.

You mention these things as though their controversial nature is self-evident....I just don't get it.

Any sane person who possesses more than 6th grade education ought to be able to see these policies more or less all make good sense.

Attention Right Wing Bashers

Boy my fellow Republicans have been real whiny this week. The convention just ended and you are supposed to stand and be proud of who you are and what you have accomplished as you choose the candidate.

I understand why you may not be so excited considering that the convention gave disenfranchised Rep's like myself and honest party members more reasons to run far away from the party as we can.

It seems to me that with the latest rash of Republican cry-baby threads we are seeing the last ditch efforts by people in a party so isolated from the rest of the world that it will only be a matter of time before it implodes.

Don't like Right Wing bashers? Maybe you shouldn't be bashing the Left so much....otherwise it's fair game and to complain about it is hypocritical.

1. Anyone right wing unless fascist would not be rooting for the Republican party. It's a disgrace you lumped all right wing people together claiming they are all republicans.

2. Pretty sure 99% of left wing people on ATS are not democrats, as the democratic party is right wing itself.

Hmmm.... #2 is interesting... That leaves socialists, marxists and anarchists for you to peg 99% of ATS left wing.... That's probably pretty accurate. Good Job!!

The democratic party is right wing?? Ok buddy!!
where do you get this stuff??

Wow, you really dont read anything posted do you?

The first original TP get together was FEB. 2009......

I am done with you....every time I talk to you, I regret it, you will never listen to anything but what your brainwashers say.

And, someone mentioned that Ron Paul had his TP event in 2007. So, who co-opted what from whom? I do know that Ron Paul was not welcomed/ignored by the Tea Party at their later events- or so the media portrayed it- as they were obvious in their disdain of Ron Paul as well.

Of course, I don't know why Ron Paul wanted to play in the GOP sandbox in the first place. He needs to come home to the Libertarians. But, some of aren't as right wing as many make us out to be. I, personally, swing more to the left.

Well why would we? You do realize there are two different sets of ideology here? We are not on the same side. As Republican speechwriter Paul Luntz puts it we even respond to different words. If you want to get a Democrats attention you speak about Fairness or use the word FAIR and if you want to get a Republicans attention you use the word FREEDOM. Very different thought processes at work.

I think there are going to be enough Republicans who criticize the DNC that Democrats do not have to unduly criticize it as well.
But then if the criticism is warranted, (say a gross intolerance or a human rights abuse taking place) I think no matter what side you're on you are obligated to call it out as shameful...I mean when it is.

I understand the GOP is at war with itself and the biggest critics of Romney are his own party members and pundits.
The Democrats do what they can to smear him (that's because we are political opponents! See how that works?) He is taking a tougher beating from his own allies. Michael Steele is critical over the shabby, dismissive treatment of Ron Paul in this years RNC. Evangelicals do not consider Mormonism a true Christian religion. Romney's own party views him as a flip flipper and think he is NOT Conservative enough. He introduced public health care to Massachusetts, he was once pro choice, pro woman. All Democrats (or anyone) has to do is stand back and let this party tear itself apart.

I think you should be taking some of those people to task.
They are paid to be Pro-RNC.
We, your political opponents, are not.

Give the gop four years and let's see how well the country is doing. Do you seriously believe things will change and we won't have a massive debt? Do you really think all of what you said will change? When it doesn't, and it won't, will you stop backing one party over the other?

The Marxist conception of socialism is that of a specific historical phase that will displace capitalism and precede communism. The major characteristics of socialism (particularly as conceived by Marx and Engels after the Paris Commune of 1871) are that the proletariat (workers) will control the means of production through a workers' state erected by the workers in their interests. Economic activity would still be organised through the use of incentive systems and social classes would still exist, but to a lesser and diminishing extent than under capitalism

en.wikipedia.org...

As you can see it has nothing to do with the government owning anything. Can you explain to me about why the workers owning the means of production is a bad thing? There are a few worker owned companies in the USA.

edit on 1-9-2012 by RealSpoke because: (no reason given)

The crux here, is that the Soviets believed that they had a 'workers' state erected by the workers in their interests'. Marxism does sound nice when one reads about it. However, it is my belief that it is an ideal that is absolutely unattainable in reality. All communist countries have tried and failed, as the attempted execution of Marxist ideals turned out to be more of a hellish nightmare than a pleasant utopia.
