CNN just posted quick bulleton about it.

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.9 has struck off the coast of the Philippines, the U.S. Geological Survey said Friday.

The quake was about 20 miles deep, the agency said.

The quake prompted a tsunami warning for parts of Indonesia, the Philippines, Taiwan, Japan, Guam and other areas, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said.

The coast lines no longer seem like the best options for populated cities and infrastructure. I hope all in the area are safe and healthy!

Wonder how long this will take to hit the news. Watching ABC24, nothing so far.

7.9 is up there. Though depends how deep and i'm assuming it wss offshore as if it was on land i'd expect the new to grab hold of this pretty fast.

RSOE EDIS is reporting the quake as an 8.1 but seeing as how most are eventually downgraded 7.9 is probably closer to being factual.

Australia has not been placed in alarm yet.

According to RSOE EDIS there were 2 quakes of the coast. First a 8.1 and shortly after a 7.9.
