I'm still trying to figure out how to word this, I know the format I wish to ask if it's possible to do, an opinion debate, where it's not necessarily only about the facts, but about the opinions and how to express them..

Unless i'm just making no sense at all....

That might be hard to judge. Maybe how the opinion is articulated?

Persuasion Match?

Format here.

Wow, that's an extremely tough format. Vkey would have to come up with a topic suitable to that style

Somehow, I don't think you'll have a problem. I'll bet you have a very small learning curve.

This will be interesting to read.

The only "trick" about a Persuasion Match is that you can't really argue from a negative, because you don't know what your opponent's position will be, so if you don't have a strong argument for your position, right out of the gate, you're kinda boned. Of the few that I've done, my biggest mistakes have revolved around claiming something, but not backing it up, assuming that the judges would see it the same way I did... and they did not, lol.

Lesson to be learned from that: be concise, be positive, and make sure that your assertions are backed up in some manner. Cramming all that into 5,000 characters is left as an exercise for the reader

Good to see an Oscar Avatar back in play.

Interested in a quick debate? I only have 1 open, with nixie, so I'm basically free.

I think you already know the topic. It's one we both know you need.

Um, sure... though I don't know the topic. The only one that I've had in mind of late is corralling one of the Protestants in the Religion forums to argue whether Luther and Zwingli created a new Christianity or fixed the old one, and I'm pretty sure that's not what you mean

Believer vs Non-Believer, Is there life after death?

This would make a nice debate series, but I'd want the con throughout.

Sorry, but I think that this topic would be personally too depressing for me -- in my mind, at least, I'd be arguing that my beloved wife still exists, in some manner, and you'd be arguing that she does not.

I'll have to pass on that topic, sorry.

Druid, I'll take that topic with you. Even though I'm an ardent agnostic, I could still argue pro for this.
