Far from being a Christian fundy.

and may be a registered republican but is more of a libertarian and leaning left.

and is a member in good standing of the same UNION I am a member of....SAG/AFTRA

His movie persona doesn't really reflect the actual man.

Clint Eastwood is representative of the way a real republican thinks; not a rightwing neo con, corporate worshiping cleptocrat.

They didn't even understand the speech he actually gave at their convention. they just got all fawn eyed over the outlaw standing on their stage and will defend his senile moment, and ignore his liberal complaints...

The whole thing is confusing to me, but meh, whatever...I think they should bring him out at every event.

So what? I am a registered Republican. I don't believe in God. Clint probably does. I believe at the very least Pot should be legal.Maybe Clint doesn't. I don't believe in same-sex marriage but I am all for civil marriage and the ability to get on your "partner's" health plan. I could go on but the point is even though the far right and the far left would love you to believe in every last plank of their platform, the majority of people fall somewhere in the middle.

I despise tax and spend agendas and believe big government is bad government. Where have we NOT proved that the private sector can do anything the government can 10 times better at less expense. I was lucky enough that my parents sent me to private schools for K-12 education. The left wants you on the dole so that you will continue to support them. Even the Post Office, which was once self-sufficient, is now a drain on our tax dollars. Handing out 70-80K salaries to people who have the same ability as a paper boy, allowing them to retire in 20 years, and having a cushy pension on top of that, is a really dumb idea and as we are now learning completely unsustainable. (No offense to carriers but let's face it, it's the opposite of Rocket Science).

It is a shame that the born-agains have hijacked the GOP, but that doesn't stop me from having a logical view of what government should be and what your responsibilities should be to take care of yourself rather than having me do it for you.

I'm certain Clint falls in the same boat. I don't think the government should be deciding what a woman can do with her body and whether or not Clint fesls the same way, I'm sure we have enough in common to be voting for the same type of politician.

Oh and your and Clint's union is far different from Joe the Plumber's union. I had to take a job in a grocery store during the recession. I was FORCED to join a union and pay what I think is a ridiculous amount in "dues". All that union did was ensure that people that were fired for being late 3 times in a year got a second chance. (Oh and guarantee the salary of union "reps"). Otherwise, in that environment, there was NO incentive for me to work harder than the guy next to me, because advancement was based on how long you worked there, not how hard you worked. If I had an idea to improve on a process I would get zero reward for it. All that union did in that environment was make me work just as hard as the guy next to me (or hard enough not to get fired) - and no harder - because there was nothing in it for me to do so. Unions - definitely the epitome of socialism. "Let's all do the same job and work the same number of hours for the same wage". Thanks but no thanks.

Point is, Clint doesn't need to believe in EVERYTHING I do to be considered a conservative.

Interesting. "The left wants you on the dole..." Really? First of all, that isn't true. Second of all, you speak of "The left" when your entire post is based on the idea that you are GOP even though you don't agree with many of their core policies. Yet you then say "The left" wants you on the dole. Erm. Sure. All democrats want to pay for everyone to be on the dole - sounds like a reasonable statement (sic).

How did George Bush Sr. and Jr. change the post office structure? Or is it that the post office is simply a "left" institution?

Would you agree that labor unions are not all bad?

Really. They DO want you on the dole. And beyond that, they bend over backwards for illegals (or new Americans as O'Malley calls them) because at the end of the day that's another vote.

Again, my POINT was that you can be GOP or a DEM and not agree with everything. Why do people fall into this trap that you simply MUST agree with everything someone tells you that you need to agree with? For me, the governance under conservatism, sans Bushy Jr. is better for this country.

Unions? Maybe "once upon a time". Let me tell you about my experience with unions. Because of the recession, I was forced to take an overnight job stocking shelves in a grocery store. I was FORCED to join their union, or no job. I paid what I consider way too much in dues (which went up TWICE in 12 months). The only thing I saw that union do was allow the re-hiring of incompetent people who continually showed up late for work. If I worked my but off, I was still NEVER going to make a dime more than the guy working next to me, because he worked there longer. If I had the greatest idea to boost sales, my only reward would have been a pat on the back. Unions make sure you work only hard enough not to get fired, and the union shop I worked in was full of people jockeying to be the laziest person that worked there.

My Father had was bleeding in his brain and even though I went to management and explained this and this is why I had to leave early (only time I ever did so) I was written up for leaving to be with my Dad. I ask the Union for help in overturning this, and it takes 4 months to get a sit-down.

Unions are a socialistic dream - "let's all do the same job, same wage, no matter how dumb or lazy you are".

Now that I am back in my chosen field of work (IT) with no union nonsense, I work from home when I want. I've received spot awards for ideas I came up with or things I delivered to the company before they were due. I can walk in when I want and leave when I want. Unions treat people like they have a learning disability. And in the shop I worked in, it was ABSOLUTELY union vs. management. The hate was palpable. Manager tries to make sure there is product on the shelves for customers? OH NO - him putting up paper towels on an empty shelf is taking away from someone elses 10 bucks an hour, so he gets reported. IS THIS LOGICAL?

I could go on. Unions are a horrible thing in my opinion and my actual experience.

Well, if you truly believe "the left" wants "everyone" on the dole, I can't further the conversation. Hyperbole and simply absurd.

The illegal immagration issue is a cluster for both dems and repubs. It is not a one sided deal. Both parties are complicit in ignoring American public pleas for better enforcement of the law.

How again does the post office fit into a democrat only view?

Your experience with a union gave you the impression that all unions are the same? That all unions want is lazy workers? I should assume child labor laws are something you find to be archaic and socialist? Working conditions that are dangerous? - Hours/overtime/ company script? In your view there should be no protection of workers, that they have no rights? I wonder what electronic products you own, working in IT. Do you feel comfortable knowing many were made by children/young adults in slavery like conditions? Would you be comfortable knowing there was a sweatshop in your nieghborhood?

I get that you want to paint me to the extreme. I really don't care to further debate you because you make assumptions that are ridiculous. Have an awesome day though, fellow citizen.

Neither. It was "meh", kinda like room temperature water. Seen worse, seen better, almost no one cares.

You paint yourself as extreme. I didn't say that - you did.

By not acknowledging any of the accomplishments of unions for the rights of labor and simply saying they are all bad, you again make your stance extreme. Why can't you acknowledge my questions and debate?
