While I like Clint Eastwood in most all of his acting roles I've ever seen and fully respect his abilities as a movie director, I think he came off as being quite delusional with his speech at the republican convention. But then, that would make him a perfect fit for the audience he was addressing.

What is wrong with what he said? I think you just do not see the big picture. This should be used as an inspirational tool, to show that we can come back from anything. Detroit was really struggling but they are on the up rise again. I do not understand all the negativity you guys are talking about. He obviously just shares a different opinion than you. Not right, not wrong, but different. He is not crazy, and we need to start looking at the positive message instead of focusing on the negative all the time. What is the point in focusing on the negative? Positive thinking will help us become better people.

Whether you agree with what I say or not is irrelevant. It is simply my opinion and not anymore right or wrong than anyone else's. In my mind, I am more right, but I also recognize that everyone has a different way of thinking so in their mind they are more right. That is fine, but don't just keep spewing all the negative around like you are all knowing or your opinion is greater than someone that you don't agree with.

He has his opinion just like you do, and he is entitled to it. Maybe you need an ego-check? Really think about it.

Michael Savage's take:

Michael Savage encouraged by Eastwood GOP Convention Speech

He said in essence: He graciously did them a favor and came out from behind the socialist curtain that is Hollywood, at the risk of his own well-being. At his age, he doesn't need to tap dance and kiss shoes anymore.

Personally, overall, I thought the content was pretty good. Sure his delivery had a few muddled moments, but he was not using a teleprompter and he's 82 years old. He traveled all the way from the west coast and was probably taking a nap in the back when they called him out. He made some very good points in the speech and it was also comedy. It is easy to criticize him for talking to an empty chair and being an old man, but it is about what I would expect from a media that constantly seeks to jealously preserve the contrived 'magical' and ethereal status of their liberal socialist president.

Love Clint's old movies.

His speech shows his age..he's just well past his prime. Most of the time he just looked "confused".

I said he has used a Fascist model, and bought companies, like Mussolini so eloquently stated, as to what Fascism is, his actual definition. You want facts, disprove what I posted first.

Ronald Reagan bought railroads. Was he a fascist, operating a fascist model?

Please elaborate.

What made it great was it was completely unscripted. Clint had the general idea of speaking to Obama in an empty chair, other than that he didn't work off of a teleprompter. For that reason alone I found it very refreshing. Sure at times he stumbled. At times there were pauses that during a normal speech would be way too long, but again this was Clint - from the heart, to the mind, to our ears.

I was thinking as he went through it - the Bill Mahers of the world are going to paint Clint as really old, really out of touch, and slightly crazy. But that's ok, because that's the left wing agenda. They have ZERO to run on so this campaign is about one thing - attacking Mitt.

I heard the governor of my state getting interviewed this morning. This guy makes Barry look conservative. They cannot spend and tax in my state fast enough. Anyway Schiffer asked him "are families in your state better off today than they were 4 years ago". His response "No they aren't but that's not what this campaign is about". That's all I heard but I'm certain the rest of his nonsense was attacking Romney and Ryan.

Argue all you want that it doesn't matter, both parties of the same, etc. But it does. We are now 16 trillion in debt and will soon hit 20. Our deficit will soon be 150% of our GDP. The US is technically bankrupt and the solution continues to be print more money. If we keep going this route (and let's face it this IS the DEM PLAN) we are in for inflation followed by hyperinflation, and a second recession worse than the one we just got out of (if we really even did - unemployment is REALLY more like 15 %).

Ignore the socialism noise on abortion, etc. That was settled in the 70's. Before Barry, we had all but one president not from the GOP in about 20 years time (Clinton) and nothing every happened to Roe under Reagan, Bush, and Bushy Jr. . And it won't.

Like to see you give an unscripted speech at 82 years old. Clint is not a politician. You are so used to slick Willy and the current POTUS who's secret identity is Barry Obama. When he gives a speech he becomes "Teleprompter Man".

I'd have respect for the left's platform - if they had one. Their campaign strategy consists solely of attacking Romney and Ryan and expressing absolute astonishment that they ACTUALLY have a plan.

wait a minute - you mean the DNC isn't going to be about socializing the country aka turning us into the C.C.C.P?
And giving an unscripted speech is never a good idea.
Got to add - if this was "unscripted", where did the chair come from?

.

Clint is not what I would call inexperienced when it comes to politics.

As a politician, Eastwood has made successful forays into both local and state government. In April 1986 he was elected mayor for one term in his home town of Carmel-by-the-Sea, California – a small, wealthy town and artist community on the Monterey Peninsula
[

In 2001 Eastwood was appointed to the California State Park and Recreation Commission by Governor Davis

He has also acted as a spokesman for Take Pride in America, an agency of the United States Department of the Interior which advocates taking responsibility for natural, cultural, and historic resources.[311]

So to be clear he is a politician.

Surprised I haven't seen anybody mention, that Clint was giving a somewhat, subtle message. He never really gave Romney a full endorsement, and he surely didn't Obama. But what he did say was that, "the people own the politicians, not the other way around." and, "you don't have to vote for someone you really don't want." Candidates make grand promises but it always ends in disappointment. The real issues like the war, the economy, and the country's debt are never really substantially changed each election. Clint is trying to tell us to vote for something different for once. And yes, you know I'm talking about Ron Paul. Clint's speech was genius, and fitting.

Here is what everyone needs to take from the speech / presentation that Clint Eastwood gave. Obama is a bungling fool. He failed on his promises to deliver things. He has tried to turn the country into a SOCIALIST-COMMUNIST REGIME. Obama has squandered his legacy as POTUS. I doubt that history will treat Obama with any kindness when it remembers his time in office. Clint's presentation was great. Very stand up for a old guy that's used to weilding a 44 AutoMag and pair of six guns.

I doubt very much that is what Clint was getting at because I am willing to bet he actually knows what those words mean.

I agree with everything you said except for "He has tried to turn the country into a SOCIALIST-COMMUNIST REGIME". No he hasn't.

And the last part. I disagree the presentation of Clint's speech was great.
