Well ATS ?
I don't know what y'all thought but it was certainly unique!
Some will say he spoke truth. Some may say he was weird.
I don't know how I feel.
When he was featured at the Super bowl I was like yeah! Clint Eastwood !
But now?... I'm just confused.

I really respect Clint Eastwood as an actor and a director. This was not his finest moment.

He should have stayed at the old actors home to be honest. He didn't look all that great, and came across as a senile old man, OMG it just occurred to me that maybe he wasn't acting in Gran Torino it is possible it was a documentary.

I used to have respect for Clint, but to prop up that senile old man and let him prattle on like that...WOW. He made Biden look like a Rhodes Scholar tonight. That was not good, definitely bad, and really ugly, but it couldn't have happened to a better party.

I thought he was awesome and funny. Completely outside of the boring political speech box. I laughed out loud.

Damn it !
I gotta run, y'all have at it.
My initial reactions are confused
and I don't know which means confused.
Vicious circle.
I like Clint and considered him
a straight shooting guy.
I'm a Dem and was glad to hear him endorse
the Auto bail out in his Superbowl ad.
I guess I was hoping for more of that kind of bipartisanism .
But it was a weird speech.,
For me,
Back as soon as I can.

The United States is quickly descending into a joke.

American politicians and American Political Parties have no integrity. They all should be ashamed of themselves.

Every American should be insulted.

Here's a link to the video.

Personally, I think Mr. Eastwood's presentation was dead on. Given his age he seemed to stumble a bit for the words, but I think he was dead on right.

I'm more complexed as to why the Republicans had him as a mystery guest.

Further complexed about why the Republicans thought he would make a good speaker on this night.

Still love Clint...

I was gonna post this while he was saying all the junk he was saying, but knew someone else would post it.

I think it was unnecessary and it seems "these people" are taking this all as a joke. There is no time for jokes and cracks when the country is on the brink of complete collapse, with no recovery. You're all people of the same country, stop the division and fix the mess the people before you made.

He appeared to be acting like an actor,
I have no idea who wrote the script,
and who the producer was.

Watching the actors act,
is still better entertainment,
then watching the puppets on a string,
without meeting the puppeteer.

Something like a puppet show,
where you get to sit with the puppets,
and watch the other puppets.

Wow some of you really need to lighten up. This is essentially a party full of like-minded people to nominate the man. I think they can tear their sack cloth and lie prostrate on the ground after the real work of fixing this nation begins....

It was the most awkward speech I have ever seen in my life, the guy was talking to a CHAIR.

Clint is an ACTOR, why is he speaking at a political convention?

I loved when he told the heckler "go ahead make my dayyy" lol. So much better than the normal goons just rushing them out...

Some people can't recognize genius when they see it...

You all should give Clint the respect he deserves, he was eloquent and trying to raise the spirits of the American people, get over yourselves and try to remove the sticks long enough to have a sense of humor.

Wikipedia didn't waste anytime with their comment:

Eastwood spoke at the 2012 Republican National Convention in support of the Romney/Ryan ticket on August 30th, giving a rambling, hilarious address that attacked President Obama. [273][274] Contrary to a conservative message, he suggested that Obama should have already pulled out of Afghanistan and that he should have done more to reduce unemployment.
