I like scientific studies like that Maybe I'll try a shorter one though, more like three hours. 27 hrs....I'll never make it anymore, when I was twenty maybe.

Wow that is one ugly woman in every form of the word. With her money you'd think she'd at least get her teeth bonded or something. Ever heard of a hair stylist you hag? what about a dermatologist cause she has some ugly skin too. It looks pussy and in places green. Maybe she's one of those shape shifting reptiliods and the green scales are showing through her phony skin.

Damn is she ugly.

At first I was taken a back by the number of comments regarding her physical appearance. It seemed off the point to me. However, after some thought:

1. She made specific comments about laziness. I guess she opened the door for that one herself. Still, I was and am more concerned about her separation from reality issues.

2. If she were a fat dude, many would still comment on his size. Look how many make fun of Trump's hair or Soros' wrinkly face. So I guess there is an even distribution of s*** talk based on gender.

For those who responded with their own states of medical/financial/emotional problems, I wish nothing but the best for you.

And there you have raised what is, for me, the key question. If this woman were more attractive, would folks react as harshly to her obviously silver spoon fed mentality? There are a number of fairly attractive trust fund hotties who do the Sunday morning talk show circuit, spewing similar rhetoric... but they don't get their own threads on ATS very often!

If nothing else, this woman might be using her ugliness and unkempt appearance as a manipulation tool. And, if so, what's the agenda?

Good point, I can think of a few right off the bat. Honestly, if she were better looking or kept herself healthier but still said that, not much would change. It would still be crass and dishonest. But how would people react? Maybe it would take less than 27 hours.

Yeh Gina, try working in health care / adult disability 50hrs a week with pathetic wages. Does that make my friends lazy any does it.? It makes them broke, but that is their choice.

wow, i was legitimately shocked when i saw the picture of her. if she hadn't inherited 70 mil, it would be safe to say she would have ate herself to death.

Look at the type of life she is leaving the world - bloated abundance (in body as well), neo-liberal fascism wrapped up in capitalism and three children out of four who absolutely hate her guts to death and are suing her for control of the family trust fund... some legacy... think I'll pass...

I agree with the looks statement. Forget the fact she is ugly and obese. She is rich. She can say whatever she wants and it is ok. Lots of women choose $ over looks. Check out all the chicks chasing rich ugly men (too many to list). It has nothing to do with looks. Just$$. Wasn't that bimbo anna nicole smith dating a 97 year old before he died?

This is just another pathetic attempt for attention by another one of the 1%. They can't be happy just being rich they have to surround themselves with media exposure because their billions can't buy them anyone who gives a crap about what they have to say.

When I read the title I laughed out loud. Not because it was funny but because it is an outright ludicrous thing to say.

Then I thought about all the "homeless" and broke people I meet in Los Angeles on my way to work. I swear, half of them are holding a bottle of "something" in brown bags, or smoking a cig. If they had the money to buy smokes, they could afford food, and if they had the time to be beggars they could use that time to straighten up.

Still, I would like to see those same words come out of Rinehart's mouth if she was born here in the slums of Los Angeles, rather than a rich family and inheritance.

I have to agree with you....at first it seems like a stupidly harsh statement, and it is, but frankly, that's what some people need. I don't know how many times even in our affluent area of the world, I've seen people obviously jobless, possibly homeless, clearly smoking *something* or drinking, and as much as I totally empathise with bad circumstances, in most cases we still have a choice about outcomes and potential solutions. In most cases, I have to emphasise...sometimes it does seem impossible.

Before I get flamed into the next dimension...I'm not wealthy. Damn, I was till I met my ex, but I won't be making those mistakes again! I have a very low income, but still save, living within my means, and working hard at a job and building a little business in my spare time. It's not about wealth, it's about attitude...I suspect even if Gina Rinehard had been born in a slum somewhere, she still would have built something. She might have taken $500 and turned it into half a million. It still takes drive and intelligence and guts to do what she did with what she inherited. Most people I'm sure would have stashed the money and spent their lives snoozing on a yacht somewhere.

I think the most shocking thing about the responses here are how shallow it shows us to be. Who the hell cares what she looks like? There has only been this massive reaction about her physical appearance because she's saying something we maybe don't want to hear, and our backlash is a cheap shot of the most obvious kind. Are we all supermodels? Nope. Neither do we have her wealth, which is why we're bitching about her. It's jealousy, plain and simple. If you google her image, you will see that actually, these are the worst pics of her, which is hardly surprising...the media will use what gets the biggest reaction, and you fell for it.

no, it more like I spend many sleepless nights being kept up with feet are cramping up, having spasms, and just plain hurting like heck, to get up after maybe three or four hours sleep and heading into a job where I am on those feet for close to 8 hours, pushing the thickest ink there is it seems through these tiny holes in a silk mesh screen, some of which are heavier than the weight limit the doctor told me my feed could handle, hauling heavy boxes of flock through the place, while being told all to often that we have to move faster, and faster, get the crap out!! then come home to a house that needs to be cleaned, laundry that needs to be done, dishes that need to be washed, food that needs to be cooked....then back to bed, to spend another night being woke up every hour or two because my feet are going nuts!!!

I am getting sick and tired of people who are probably at the most are just sitting at a desk all day pushing folders across it telling me how I ain't working hard enough, need more excercise, eat too much, need to have my chocolate milk taxed, and on and on and on!!!
come live my life for a day, then I will listen to your suggestions, advice, and gripes!!!

I don't believe this lady would last the day, so well, she can keep her opinions to herself!

One thing I think that many fail to understand is that pleasure is as necessary as food. The lack of enjoyment in life can lead one to commit suicide or in some cases violent acts. Can you die from a lack of enjoyment in life just as you can die from a lack of food? I believe so yes, the lack of enjoyment leads to depression and possibly suicide.

Whenever a person experiences enjoyment or pleasure of any kind the brain releases a chemical called dopamine, this is a chemical the brain uses to actualize enjoyment. When you eat some food that you like your brain has released dopamine, when you have sex your brain releases dopamine, when you go skiing or play basketball your brain releases dopamine, if you like those things that is. If you eat broccoli and do not like broccoli then your brain has released no dopamine or not enough. Drug use is often called doping, when you use drugs your brain releases large amounts of dopamine.

Drug abuse is a sign that a person is not enjoying life and therefore needs to turn to drugs in order to obtain some form of enjoyment or pleasure, dopamine. People will kill in order to obtain dopamine, pleasure, it is a requirement for life. Homeless people have very little ability to obtain any enjoyment out of life, but they still need it as much as you or I. Mrs. Rinehart does not understand this, she has probably never once in her life been gone without and has no idea what she's talking about. I don't talk about what it's like to give birth to a child because I have not experienced it, why is she talking about something she's never experienced as if she had any idea at all.

As I was falling asleep last night, lost in thought, it occurred to me. The reason I find this woman so repulsive is that she looks like this guy in drag....



And that's an image/thought I could have gone several lifetimes without....

Yes because living off the interest from family heirloom money, having higher education paid for so you could easily "C your way through" if you wanted, and getting hooked up with a sit-on-your-butt manangement job at a family business is such exasperating work.

To be honest, rich people have much much less in the way of personal excuses. A poor person may drive drunk because they can't afford to get a cab all the time. Ditto with a poor person that shouldn't be driving in the first place, because they're lousy at it and inattentive. But there is plenty of evidence of rich people doing it way too much, and the $30,000 or so it would take to have an on-call professional driver for a year would be a pittance to them. (I drive kids to school in beat up barely working vans for much less than that, if somebody well heeled offered me a more livable wage and wasn't a complete a-hole I'd be more than happy to keep myself neat and take them around town in a nice new luxury car and wait on them.) Actors and athletes could easily go clubbing and get wasted or buzzed all they want and stay out of trouble by simply having a chauffer, thus they don't really have any valid excuse when we hear about them. Obviously having money does not equate to having any sense.

Rich people... Honestly... Unless you've been there, ST#U.

Your not lazy, your just a bad slave. Your not drunk, your self medicated because you just can't stand dealing with people who tell you that all you have to do is work harder and you too can be a billionaire. You've finally wised up and realized that the American Dream is a scam designed to keep us all in slavery to serve the very few that run this world. The game is rigged and the house always wins and as long as we all keep playing, the cocktail waitress will keep us well lubricated. Time to stop drinking, cash in and leave the casino for good...all of us. Screw them!

Well. She should use that stash of cash for some liposuction, facelift, personal dietician/nutritionist/trainer, beautician, hairdresser, and a fashion sdvisor....Just saying.
